WannaBe: <technical draw> I did not put down $1,000. But I did put down a considerable sum of 'change'...

<... With my 15 bucks...> Ptttttttthhhhhhh!! You wish! =)

Apr-20-08  technical draw: Look at this. He lucks into 5th place now he thinks he's King of the hill. Better make sure your parachute is working when you come crashing down!
Apr-20-08  positionalgenius: OK... toplaov won dos hemanes and beat vallejo. Hello chessbucks...
Apr-21-08  Kreifi: I bet on everyone but Topalov. :D I am so good at this.
Apr-21-08  technical draw: <positionalgenius> How come you have exactly 1,000 chessbucks? It's like your starting all over again.
Apr-21-08  technical draw: There are only two players in this cycle, <wannabe> and me, all the rest are also rans. (except sneaky who always seem to be in the running...TD
Apr-21-08  malthrope: <ChessBookie> - thought to help give you an assist as to the players in the - European Individual Championship: Winner - and - European Individual Women's Championship: Winner - that were either <Not paired> or <No shows> in the 1st round of these two chess events. Albeit, I do have a vested interest in this as I bet heavily on GM Francisco Vallejo-Pons in the Men's section. :)

_________________________________________

Men's Section // 43 players + 1 Other = 44 listings total.

• Players 'Not paired' in the 1st round (removed from the pairing list) and listed on the main betting list:

GM Francisco Vallejo-Pons (ESP 2684)
GM Arkadij Naiditsch (GER 2624)

• Players 'No show' listed only in 'Others' are:

Rakhmanov (against Timofeev), Nechepurenko (against Riazantsev) and Krivoshey (against Beliavsky). _________________________________________

Women's Section // 20 players + 1 Other = 21 listings total.

• Players 'No show' in the 1st round and listed on the main betting list:

WGM/IM Ketevan Arakhamia-Grant (SCO 2452)

• Players 'No show' listed only in 'Others' are:

Valentina (against Ushenina).

_________________________________________

Hope that helps a bit and we'll (those that bet on the above players listed as 'Not paired' or 'No shows') be looking forward to the appropriate refunds when issued. :) Regards, - Mal

PS: It would be fun (if time and energy allows) if you can also add a few games from these two individual Men's and Women's events! <grin>

PPS: <Kreifi: I bet on everyone but Topalov. :D I am so good at this.> Keep trying! ;) I foresee 'Lady Luck' appearing very shortly in your betting future! :^)

PPPS: <TD> and <WannaBe> - OMG - Behave yourselves!!! ~lol~ You are disturbing our most serious concentration in the Spring Leg of this fabulous <ChessBookie> betting season! ~ROFL~ <Devilish grin ensues>

WannaBe: Ha!! Kamsky!! What'd Ay Say?! What'd Ay Say?!?!

Okay, enough with the 'gloating'... Enemies at the gates, have to focus, <FOCUS>!! Have to fight off them Barbarians at the Gate!! =)

Apr-22-08  Kreifi: <malthrope> I know, I will rise again and show these posers.
Apr-22-08  malthrope: <Kreifi: <malthrope> I know, I will rise again and show these posers.>

That's the spirit! <Kreifi> :) Always move ahead and let the bets fall where they may... Do or die we'll always find a way to continue our betting plays! ;)

Apr-22-08  technical draw: <Wannabe> That's right stay focused. I'm rooting for you. Think carefully your bets. Don't go hog wild and start betting on long shots. (of course those are just words of encouragement, but I really think you're going to blow it and find yourself in the middle of the pack......TD

Chessgames Bookie: <malthrope> Thanks for the research on the European Championships. Refunds have been been issued on Naiditsch and Arakhamia-Grant tickets, but Vallejo Pons showed up for the second round and his ticket is still live.

You're welcome <ChessBookie> :) I thought it best to alert you but I knew the complete results from Round #2 should bring us definitive information. So, I'm very pleased that the #2 seed GM Francisco Vallejo-Pons survived and now shows up in the Round #2 stats with 1.5 points. I'll take all the active <Running Horses> I can on this bet! ;) Regards, - Mal

Apr-22-08  technical draw: Hey <malthrope> What are you doing in the ghetto? You're a contender and you should be among the leaders. Somethings wrong here cause Annie K and other good players are in the bottom of the list. Also what is Wannabe doing in 5th place?Maybe it's the beginning of "Plan 9 from Outer Space"
Apr-22-08  malthrope: <technical draw: Hey <malthrope> What are you doing in the ghetto? [...] Maybe it's the beginning of "Plan 9 from Outer Space">

Well <TD> with tensions running high in so many places and oil prices about to set a new all time high of $120 per barrel... It has been difficult sometimes to focus on our little <ChessBookie> betting game here. We can't all be like <WannaBe> who's "Focus" remains superb. ;) Nor are we lucky enough to have the backup muscle of the likes of "Abdullah the Butcher" as prime adviser and "Killer Kowolski" on standby.

Of course "No excuses!" is our universal team motto. In closing, I can only say this that there have been some wild reports of late that it's the <Green Slime> running loose and emerging. Naturally, I'd discounted all such reports until recently when I came across this...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...

No need to worry about until it's actually reported on the Evening News. Until then we shall just have to keep trying! Through the rain and snow, the Summers sultry heat and the Winters blistering cold... ;) All the Best, - Mal

Apr-23-08  Kreifi: Something is definetly going on because potential winner.. what was his name... Kreifi, is somewhere like 190. I don't get it. :P

Baku round 2 hopefully corrects this disturbing situtation.

WannaBe: Flames or Glory.... Here we go!
Apr-23-08  technical draw: <malthorpe> I beg to differ but No excuses! is not our universal team motto, Personally I have dozens of excuses at hand in case I start going downhill. One example will suffice:

1. I thought Polgar was a man!

WannaBe: <Chessgames Bookie> Can you settle the tickets? Need to 're-invest' them in the next round of Baku! =)
Apr-23-08  technical draw: I can't believe what I'm seeing, Wannabe moves up to 4th place! If he goes to first place that's the sign for the anti-christ to make his appearance. We are in the last days and what I'm saying is true. It's in the Bible, somewhere around the middle. Lets just hope no one ends with 666.

WannaBe: <technical draw> Not to worry, took a very minor loss in round 3...

But I shall do my best to full-fill you wish of the anti-christ in round 4!

Apr-23-08  dakgootje: For some reason or another I actually made it to the leaderbord aswell (that is, I'm 12th, which for me shows up as on the leadersbord, even though it would normally make more sense to have the leaderbord as top-10... does it get extended if you are #11 or #12?)

Either way, bet most of my chessbucks on the final winners (in lieu of what I wanted to do...), so only 197 bucks of the total of 1615 left... Just bet it all today, if I win I have something to bet the regular games again, if I lose I don't have to bother betting for some time :P

Hahaha! I'm glad one part of my <Green Slime> story caught your attention... BTW: Which Polgar sister was it that you thought might be a man - Judit, Sofia or Zsuzsa? <grin> ;) - Mal

Apr-24-08  Kreifi: Baku R3 was... how would I say it... disaster and now I quite bad in debt. :/ Anyone want loan few c-buck? I will pay back as soon as I win. Will not buy beer or any tobacco, promise.
Apr-24-08  malthrope: <Kreifi: Baku R3 was... how would I say it... disaster and now I quite bad in debt. :/ Anyone want loan few c-buck? [...]>

Hehehe... Well, don't feel too bad <Kreifi> as we have all been there - done that! ;)

You need a new friend and he goes by the name of <Loanshark>! He can seem pretty mean at times but in reality he has a heart of gold. He's usually very busy right until the time he collects his <'juice'> (daily at 12 midnight EST), but right after that you may find him in a genial mood and he would be quite willing to lend you some c-bucks! He's your best shot, atm. :))

<Will not buy beer or any tobacco, promise.>

~lol~ ...Good Luck! :^) - Mal

PS: The 'Pick 3's generally have some cool long shots that sometimes because of the way others are betting (too heavy on the obvious choices) that one or two may squeak through and Win! <grin> That's what I do in the attempt to collect a good win then right after that regroup to build again. ;)
