Sep-12-08 | | Whitehat1963: So, what do you say, <Chessbookie>? How about a bet on Nickel's sixth move? |
Sep-12-08
 | | Chessgames Bookie: We have added the proposition: Arno Nickel vs The World: 6...? |
Sep-12-08 | | technical draw: <malthrope> Now I know why you're so far ahead of the group. You sent for that handicapping computer. Darn I thought it was another rip off.! Well, I might as well put on my X-ray glasses and go for a walk....TD |
Sep-12-08 | | danielpi: Who is the guy in the "chessbookie" photo? Was he paid to pose for that? For that matter, who is that lunatic dressed up like a king in the "Be Treated Like a King" photo? My eye darts across the screen, and I've got to say that Arno, at a different angle... nah. |
Sep-13-08 | | Kreifi: Any idea when the leg ends? |
Sep-13-08
 | | WannaBe: The leg usually ends at the ankle, or around the hip. 'Pending on which way you look at it. |
Sep-13-08 | | Where is my mind: <Any idea when the leg ends?>
End of September. |
Sep-13-08 | | malthrope: <technical draw: <malthrope> Now I know why you're so far ahead of the group. You sent for that handicapping computer. Darn I thought it was another rip off.! Well, I might as well put on my X-ray glasses and go for a walk....TD> <TD> I'll gladly trade you my handicapping computer for a pair of those X-ray glasses. Of course, you'll have to wait until after the Winter Leg Championship Finals concludes! ~lol~ I always wanted to be just like <Superman> with cool X-ray vision. Just think of the possibilities! <grin> :^) My Best, Your pal, - Mal |

<< Bilbao Grand Slam: Rd 10: Topalov vs Ivanchuk : Topalov [cash in ticket] 1000 YOU WIN! COLLECT 2970 >> Woo hoo!! I'm back in the running !! |

 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: Some of us aren't that lucky... Either a draw or an Aronian win in that last game would have landed me at 2nd place. Now I'm in the negatives, but that's life for you :) |
Sep-14-08 | | malthrope: <SwitchingQuylthulg: Some of us aren't that lucky... [...]> Just a follow-up to what <SwitchingQuylthulg> just mentioned... In the last round at Bilbao if - Chucky had beaten Topalov, Magnus had either won, drawn or lost against Vishy, and Aronian had beaten Radjabov, I would have won over 20K to add to my total (from Rd #10 bets, plus the 'Perfecta' and 'Winner' betting tickets). Sometimes we tend to forget that our total scores on the Leaderboard tell only half the story! ;) Besides, it's all water under the bridge and the 'coudda, woudda, shoudda' is now put quietly into the past as we regroup and bet anew. No one ever said that <ChessBookie> was going to make it easy for us. ~lol~ A near or close miss is just that... Close only counts in Horseshoes! 'nuff said... :^) Regards, - Mal |
Sep-14-08 | | NakoSonorense: Why Aronian, why?! Why did you have to lose your last game and let Carlsen tie you?! You just robbed me of +2,000 chessbux... :( |
Sep-15-08 | | 4tmac: It was my understanding the Bilbao tie-breaking would be used for the purpose of deciding the perfecta payout. I believe it was Topolov-Carlsen. |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: The Summer Leg ends on September 25th with the conclusion of the Russia vs. China match. GOOD LUCK! |
Sep-15-08 | | chessmoron: <Chessgames Bookie> Bets on Rapid? Blitz? Overall? |
Sep-15-08 | | malthrope: One other thing <ChessBookie> in the bet - China vs Russia: WINNER - is this the combined team efforts of both the Men's and Women's boards? (10 boards) Or, just the Men's? (5 boards)? TIA :^) - Mal |
Sep-15-08
 | | Chessgames Bookie: <4tmac> Our intention was, that in case of a tie for first after regulation play, we would recognize the scheduled playoff when paying off the perfecta tickets. Sorry for not being very clear on this. |
Sep-15-08 | | 4tmac: Thanks, I couldn't remember exactly with all the scoring system complications. |
Sep-15-08
 | | Chessgames Bookie: <malthrope> We will combine the men's and women's scores to determine the winner. <chessmoron> We might add rapid and blitz bets as more information becomes available. |
Sep-15-08 | | malthrope: <Chessgames Bookie: <malthrope> We will combine the men's and women's scores to determine the winner.> Thanks <ChessBookie> that helps! :) I just wanted to be sure it was one or the other or both! The latter being what I suspected but wanted to verify that's what the bet is... ;) The only info we have, atm, is what <chessmoron> has posted in - chessgames.com chessforum - which is what 'TWIC' has kindly provided thus far (since there is no official "Russia vs. China" website active as of yet). Hopefully it will be soon... :^) - Mal |

Sep-16-08 | | kspiteri: Hou Yifan - Kosteniuk game 3 started, but the betting is still open. |
Sep-16-08 | | malthrope: <ChessBookie> - looks like the - Women's World Championship: Game 3: Hou Yifan vs Kosteniuk - bet has already started today... Sorry I didn't catch this one (just assumed there was a mini-break without thinking about it...). As of 8:11 AM EDT the total pool was given as $12,993 (11 minutes after the start of play). So, you might want to take a close look at this one (I'd finished betting prior to the official close of bets early this morning). ;) - Mal Re: Women's World Championship

 | | Chessgames Bookie: <kspiteri> <malthrope> Thanks, any bets made after the starting time of the game will be cancelled. |
Sep-16-08 | | malthrope: Hehehe... Thanks <ChessBookie> somehow I was trying to add 2 + 2 and got 5! Didn't notice this bet was ending today but at a much later time (on the 16th and *not* on the 17th where the mini-break must have entered my mind between games #2 and #3). I'll continue to work on my addition... :)) - Mal |

Sep-16-08 | | kspiteri: <malthrope: I'll continue to work on my addition... :)> You don't seem to have any problem adding chessbucks though :) |
