Hehehe... Keep in mind that I don't pencil in the <Blind Luck> factor, so it makes the c-bucks addition a tad easier when that occurs! ;) - Mal

Sep-17-08  danielpi: Hey CB, it was a draw... so, uh, yeah... where's my money? Hm?

That's a very good question. :-)

That's a very good question. :-)>

I've just updated <Current Chess Events> in my Profile with this note:

<"So far the 'Russian Chess Federation' website is only reporting the results and games after they are played. There is no official website with games presented 'live' that I'm aware of... :(">

Also, answered your query re: this question in - Russia vs China Match (2008) - :^) - Mal

Sep-20-08  Kreifi: Some winnings in Spice R1. The odds were so strange. I dont know who there was betting but I got awesome odds.

Bad to some, good to me. ;)

Mayby I'm now still in battle of top10/12.

Sep-22-08  malthrope: <ChessBookie> - When you get a chance you need to correct this SPICE Cup bet...

Sep-22-08  4tmac: Good catch Mal! Me too ChessgamesBookie! (20 chessbucks on Kritz, round 3)
Sep-22-08  danielpi: Hi Bookie -- round 4 results are on the Spice Cup site:

Kritz-Miton (draw)
Onischuk-Perelshteyn (white)
Pentala-Akobian (draw)
Stefansson-Becerra (draw)
Kaidanov-Mikhalevsky (black)

You should check it, but I think that's correct.

Sep-22-08  malthrope: <4tmac: Good catch Mal! Me too ChessgamesBookie! (20 chessbucks on Kritz, round 3)>

Yep! We must try to collect what we can, when we can, anyway that we can... ;) Besides, since my 'betting knight' is moving <backwords> in the Spice Cup betting it appears that I'll need all the help I can get! ~lol~ :^) - Mal

PS: Checked out your C-forum and I'll have to stop by later. :) Since I still recall several of the positions of a few of your Endgame studies that I solved long ago as a teenager. <sheepish grin> Nice stuff! :))

Sep-23-08  danielpi: 8009 chessbucks. I'm back in the hunt!

Chessgames Bookie: We just redid the payoffs for the SPICE Cup: Rd 3: Stefansson vs Kritz wager. We had payed off Stefansson when in fact Kritz was the winner.

A side note: In the process of fixing Stefansson vs Kritz, we accidentally redid the payoffs for the SPICE Cup: Rd 4: Kritz vs Miton bet. That won't effect anybody's standings, except that a few people will see tickets they already cashed-in or threw away reappear in their account.

To help us solve messes like this one, today we programmed a new utility called "undo_payoffs". This new utility will make these retroactive payoff corrections much easier for the Chessbookie Administrators. It gives everybody back their old ticket, whether or not they threw it away or cashed it in. It also has to take money away from people who cashed in a ticket that didn't actually win. When the utility does this, it attempts to take the money out of the cash on hand--but sometimes the player has already spent their ill-gotten gains, in which case we have no choice but to tack the money owed onto their loan balance.

In the case of Stefansson vs Kritz the following users had account adjustments because they cashed in a Steffansson ticket: jack1501, sire, test 10, plimko, fm avari viraf, and gauer. Therefore they will notice a little less money (or a little more loan) on their account than it was before we corrected the payoffs. Sorry about that, but fair is fair, and we have to get the chessbucks to pay off the real winners.

We apologize for these mistakes. Please understand we're not mad at anybody who cashed in a ticket that wasn't really a winner. We understand as well as anybody how hard it is to keep track of all this stuff. The good news is that our new utility "undo_payoffs" will make correcting mistakes much easier and accurate in the future on the rare occasions when we pay off the wrong tickets.

SwitchingQuylthulg: <ChessGames Bookie> Any chance the China vs. Russia match could be paid off? That would bring my betting cap up to 5K again ;-)

Chessgames Bookie: <Any chance the China vs. Russia match could be paid off?> You got it. Since we're drawing so close to the finish line, we also recomputed the leaderboard after that payoff.

SwitchingQuylthulg: Thanks for enabling me to lose more money :)
Sep-26-08  NakoSonorense: It's getting awfully close... Hope I can survive!
Sep-26-08  danielpi: <Nako> I'm gunning for your spot -- again! Two rounds to go. No more disasters, please! So close!
Sep-26-08  NakoSonorense: The real disaster would be that, after having been on the top 12 for most of this leg, I end up finishing out of it!

At first, I thought I was safe at $6,000. When it started getting close, I decided to add a couple more grands. But then, it started getting close again, so I make another grand.

Now we're so close to the end, that it's just too risky to try to make another thousand.

It would be a disaster of catastrophic proportions if I don't finish in the top 12.

People, please, STOP winning!

Sep-26-08  danielpi: <Nako> Went crazy. I'm up another 1000. Should be better than 10,000 if my math is right. I figure a lot of people to start betting insanely in the last couple rounds.

Your ass is grass, my friend.

In all seriousness though, that would suck if you worked so long at keeping in the top 10, only to get knocked out by some idiot putting money on Kritz to win it all.

Now, speaking for myself -- go Kritz!

Sep-27-08  danielpi: I beat 10,000!
Sep-27-08  malthrope: <Chessgames Bookie: <malthrope> <4tmac> Thanks for pointing out the payoff error. We'll correct that shortly.>

Thanks <ChessBookie> :) We are all square! <grin> Hope the new 'Utility' added makes things a bit easier for you. ;)

Looks like a tight race right down to the wire... So, 'Good Luck' to all the eventual qualifiers in this Summer betting leg! :^) - Mal
