Jun-03-09  bharatiy: <Chessgames Bookie> can I ask little favor? Can you settle the wages more frequently, especially with so many events going on, if we win something we can use that money for next one. I am sure you are busy with your daily job, but if its possible please do it. I must say that it will be an favor, whatever fun we are having now is great! and thanks for it!!
Jun-03-09  Robin01: <hey what happened in Rd 8 game of Hou in Chinese championship?>I believe Hou was forfeited for being late. So officially there was no game played.
Jun-03-09  jameskobe: <chessbookie> its less than 2 hours before the start of round 9 of chinese championship and the bets are not updated yet. I have no funds and i have to bet ..... pagingggggggggggggggggggg!! thanks
Jun-04-09  bharatiy: <chessbookie> I think you should settle bet on Hou's game as if she lost it because technically its a loss, she lost a point. Of course I will win some money so this argument.
Jun-04-09  kspiteri: I posted a table with the pairings for the Poikovsky Tournament at 10th Karpov Tournament (2009). If the pairings for round 3 are as listed below, the table would be confirmed and we should be able to bet on the other rounds.

Round 3:
Inarkiev - Efimenko
Naiditsch - Sutovsky
Motylev -Shirov
Gashimov - Onischuk
Bologan - Rublevsky

Jun-04-09  wordfunph: Ahhhh, flooded betting activities...i like that!

More power to Chess Bookie!

Jun-04-09  technical draw: Man, I'm a loser. My situation is sooo bad I have been listening to this song all day:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9BA...

Jun-04-09  rexb: Anand vs. Leko:
The actual games are
Game 3: Anand vs. Leko
Game 4: Leko vs. Anand.
Jun-05-09  kspiteri: <bookie> Now that the table seems to be correct, how about bets on the remaining rounds at Poikovsky? (And maybe Pick 3 as well.)

Round 4:
Efimenko - Rublevsky
Onischuk - Bologan
Shirov - Gashimov
Sutovsky - Motylev
Inarkiev - Naiditsch

Round 5:
Naiditsch - Efimenko
Motylev - Inarkiev
Gashimov - Sutovsky
Bologan - Shirov
Rublevsky - Onischuk

Chessgames Bookie: <kspiteri> Thanks for the fine research; there will be wagering on the remaining rounds of the tournament.

<rexb> After knowing the pairings for the first two games, we assumed that the players would alternate colors, but that wasn't the case. We will be issuing refunds on tickets to those games shortly.

Jun-05-09  kspiteri: Thanks <bookie>. However, the betting is set to close one hour after the round begins.

Chessgames Bookie: About those two Anand-Leko games, we did the refund process. When we refund bets for events that already took place and were paid for, the process is a little complicated. It works in three steps:

(1) We take away the money from any cashed-in tickets for the refunded games. If you don't have the cash on hand, our boys will come over and shake you down for every last chessbuck in your wallet. We take everything we can, and if it's still not enough, we tack the remainder on to your loan! And yes, the vig in running!

(2) We pick out all "discarded losing tickets" from the trash and give them back to the people who discarded them.

(3) Then we set all tickets on "refund", which makes them sort of like cash-vouchers for the face value of the bet.

In short, everybody should be back exactly where they started, as if the bet never happened. Sorry about the mix-up.

That causes me to wonder what the coloration of these two games are: Rapid Match: Gm 7: Leko vs Anand and Rapid Match: Gm 8: Anand vs Leko. If I have it wrong, please speak up now.

Understand: I'm mostly a horses bookie, this chess stuff is just a sideline for me... and it's a little over my head. These chess events are nuts! And you guy are crazy too! Haha, just ribbin' ya. Take care and good luck.

Jun-05-09  RonB52734: What happened that caused the Leko-Anand refund (just curious)?
Jun-06-09  kspiteri: <RonB52734> Round 3 was indicated as Leko-Anand (it was Anand-Leko) and Round 4 was indicated as Anand-Leko (it was Leko-Anand).

<Bookie> On http://lekoanand.hu/eng/4.html I get the impression that Round 7 is Anand-Leko and Round 8 is Leko-Anand.

SwitchingQuylthulg: It appears that betting on the Karpov tournament consistently closes an hour after the games start. Is this intended?
Jun-06-09  RonB52734: <kspiteri> Got it, thanks. Few answers are so black-and-white :)

Chessgames Bookie: <SwitchingQuylthulg> The betting on the fourth round Karpov tournament games closed at 6:AM USA Eastern time. Were the games already underway by then?

SwitchingQuylthulg: <Chessgames Bookie> Yes. I think they started at 5:00am EDT, certainly no later. This also fits the official site's reported starting time for all rounds other than the last of 15:00 (10 hours ahead as normal time zones are UTC-5 and UTC+5 respectively and both areas currently have daylight saving time in effect).

SwitchingQuylthulg: By the way, this should not be forgotten: <kspiteri: <Bookie> On http://lekoanand.hu/eng/4.html I get the impression that Round 7 is Anand-Leko and Round 8 is Leko-Anand.>

  Chessgames Bookie: To all:

We concur with SwitchingQuylthulg and retroactively refunded all bets that came in during 5:00am to 6:00am USA/Eastern time for the 4th round of the Poikovsky Karpov tournament. That means a few people will have refund-vouchers waiting for them. We will make the payoffs shortly on these bets.

Also, the insane coloration scheme for the Leko-Anand match led us putting up two wrong bets for rounds 7 and 8. At first we were considering just switching the round numbers around, but some bettors might have taken "last round psychology" into account, so we decided to play it safe and refund everything. All bets on these two rounds have been refunded due to the coloration mix-up. New bets are now in their place.

Jun-06-09  technical draw: I won! I won! I won $20! Wait a minute. What's a refund?
Jun-08-09  kspiteri: Today is a rest day at Poykovsky.

Hehehe... Nothin' says it better than the schedule posted on the official website! o_O Confirmed. :) I've known about this since first putting up the info in <Current Chess Events> on my Profile. Unfortunately, I ran out of room (20 kilobytes now allotted for 'Profile' use) long ago and no longer add every minuscule detail to my tourney info.

In any event, one can always place a bet on: Umansky vs The World: 24? (although Umansky may not officially move until the day after tomorrow), until the Karpov Poikovsky tourney resumes in a fight to the death! :P - Mal

PS: <Chessgames Bookie: To all: [...] At first we were considering just switching the round numbers around, but some bettors might have taken "last round psychology" into account, so we decided to play it safe and refund everything. The last round 'psychology' considerations are always important to weigh carefully and duly ponder! :)) Who knew about the 'coloration' problems? ;)

PPS: <technical draw: I won! I won! I won $20! Wait a minute. What's a refund?>

<TD> - never sweat the small stuff... Whatever it <"is?"> - just be darn sure that you <"BET"> it all! ~lol~ ;)

Jun-10-09  wordfunph: <jameskobe> you're doin good my friend! good luck..
