For those who haven't noticed, the Summer Leg has begun. We have betting on Umansky's next move Umansky vs The World: 28. ? as well as Dortmund: WINNER.

Dortmund is very well organized this year and the pairings are already up for the entire event. Therefore we will be putting up round-by-round betting soon for this exciting contest.

Good luck!

Jun-30-09  SloVice: Congratulations <SwitchingQuylthulg>!! Astounding performance. You're a 3-time winner now!

<cg> <Therefore it's not uncommon to see players like yourself, already qualified, play with an "all or nothing" attitude during the Summer and Fall legs.> Since my immediate goal of finishing in the top 10 has been accomplished, this indeed is the plan this leg. I hope to figure out how <SwitchingQuylthulg> racks up so many chessbucks by the time winter leg rolls around.

Jun-30-09  acirce: Hey. I know Michael Jackson's death is traumatic, but it's not "Jackovenko"...
Jun-30-09  technical draw: I'm tied for first place. Take a good look. It will be the last time.
Jul-02-09  Whitehat1963: <Chessbookie>, How about a "most moves for the tournament" bet for Dortmund?
Jul-02-09  SloVice: Whoa... it's not looking so good for the first round of Dortmund. Looks like my stint at the top of the list will be short-lived. Help me <Switchy-Wan-Kenobi>, you're my only hope. ;)

Chessgames Bookie: <Whitehat1963> Your suggestion is a good one, but we could not put up the bet in time. Look for that proposition in future tournaments.
Jul-03-09  refutor: <chessbookie> how about number of decisive games in a round? would be better for a tournament with more players but could work for a small tournament like dortmund as well...
Jul-04-09  malthrope: <Chessgames Bookie: ♖ SUMMERTIME GAMBLING ♖

The Dortmunder organizers usually have the pairings done and posted a full month before the event starts. :) The German arbiters take their organizational duties very seriously! ~lol~ Anyway, thanks for getting the tourney up quickly (links and bets). The next big Chess event will be the Donostia Chess Festival in San Sebastian (July 6th-16th). I'll post the info shortly on the <CG.com> forum and you can view details now in my Profile.

Thanks again <ChessBookie> :^)

PS: Re: <Whitehat1963: <Chessbookie>, How about a "most moves for the tournament" bet for Dortmund?>

Indeed! The possibilities are truly endless -- Most wins with White, Black, Best first half/second half, etc. Just depends on how much energy you want to devote to feeding our addiction! :D

PPS: I see <SwitchingQuylthulg> has made his appearance on the Leaderboard... As fear now strikes the other 164 betting contestants! :P

Jakovenko, no doubt.

Sneaky: "7Knights" and "Where is my mind" have 4000 and nobody else even has 2000. Crazy! Methinks some people got lucky with the pick three.

Chessgames Bookie: <refutor> We'll implement your suggestion in the upcoming Donostia-San Sebastian tournament. We have opened the betting on that event: Donostia-San Sebastian: Winner
Jul-06-09  bharatiy: in last leg I was betting against majority and won for some part and initially was in top 5 but ended in negative. This time have decided to play along the majority and am in top 5 now. Sounds similar to me, just be reversing strategy. Hope this time I can hold on. This time I am betting only half of my funds.... too conservative............????

Chessgames Bookie: Betting has commenced on the winner of the Canadian Open Tournament: Canadian Open: Winner
Jul-09-09  DCP23: <Chessgames Bookie> That was rather premature to settle this round of San Sebastian. Two games, V-L - Karpov and Pono - Granda, apparently have different results from what the official transmission shows. White has probably won in both.

You may want to wait till confirmation appears here:
http://www.donostiachess.com/en/res... before paying out the bets on these two games.

Jul-09-09  DCP23: Come to think of it, this also affects the How Many Draws bet.
Jul-09-09  DCP23: Ok, here's the official confirmation:
http://www.donostiachess.com/en/200...
Jul-09-09  DCP23: TWIC has finally corrected the results too.
http://www.chesscenter.com/twic/twi...

Come on, I want my money! :)

Jul-10-09  pulsar: <CG Bookie> There will be readjustments on winnings based on the erroneous results for Donostia, right?
Jul-10-09  DCP23: <Chessgames Bookie> Don't forget Pono - Granda too. It was a White win.

Chessgames Bookie: The Ponomariov-Granda Zuniga, Vachier-Lagrave - Karpov, and "How many draws", bets from the 3rd round of Donostia are now correctly paid off.
Jul-11-09  pulsar: <CG Bookie> Thank you.
Jul-12-09  technical draw: Sneaky, malthrope, NakoSonorense and technical draw. The four amigos, always in the cellar. Why can't I win AT LEAST ONCE??
