 | | Chessgames Bookie: Hi martin, you placed a bet while we were still in the middle of setting it up. It's OK, we refunded your bet. |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: <malthrope: Three points of memory reference with me means it's an absolute certainty <"unless"> it's due time to invoke Holmesesque principles to discover the ultimate truth!> You lost me there chum, but you were right and what's even better news is that the problem is fixed. There is a "Test Bet" (now cancelled) in this leg which is the results of our programmers' testing. They tell me that it is working now and the test involved a normal "one stage wager", a two-stage wager like you made, and even a five-stage wager just to prove that the number of stages are irrelevant (like they should be). Thanks again for helping us iron out this detail. |

 | | martin moller: Thank you very much :-) |
|
| Jan-02-10 | | technical draw: Well, time to play with the big boys. I can't make dumb bets now. I'll still be playing the occasional longshot but it's time to start thinking about betting (ugh!) on draws. |

I'm shocked, shocked <ChessBookie> that you haven't seen the new "Sherlock Holmes" movie yet. <*grin*> The betting games afoot you know! ~lol~
<but you were right and what's even better news is that the problem is fixed. There is a <"Test Bet"> (now cancelled) in this leg which is the results of our programmers' testing. PS: We seem to be missing something?! Your timely report from the Bahamas re: <how much juice you squeezed from the Fall betting leg?> ~lol~ I was beginning to worry about you! ;) |

| Jan-03-10 | | technical draw: Wow, I can bet my whole 10,000 bucks on the winner of the world team championship. On an even money proposition I might double my net worth. But the question is do I have the, uh, courage to do it? (heck, no. Scared money) |

There is a time to <"Pull the trigger!"> and a time to <"Sit on your hands."> That last somewhat akin to Akiba Rubinstein ;) Anyhoo, I'd strongly suggest you consider very carefully which road to take... ;) Since there is still +22 hours left on that bet. The real game betting starts up next and that's where having <$cash$> is King! :D <(heck, no. Scared money)> Indeed! :) Remember all the trouble we got into last year in the Winter Championship leg? Early on finding ourselves locked down deep in the dungeon, as the Loanshark laughing hysterically when he forked over $100 - $200 c-bucks just to keep us in paltry betting money? (since we didn't pay him back one <'red cent'> of our previous loans). Sheesh! It still gives me nightmares just thinking about it (Mal shudders profusely). ~lol~ ;) My Best, - Mal
PS: Besides near the end you performed much better than me (once we had finally escaped): <technical draw> #14 @ $10,977 <malthrope> #28 @ $4,278 Reference: Winter Championship leg 2009 // http://www.chessgames.com/chessbook... |

| Jan-04-10 | | technical draw: Well, after thinking it over I put a grand on Russia. Let's see if I can recover that with the side bets. |
|
| Jan-05-10 | | Bdellovibrio: Hello, the chess forecast looks very funny, with many countries entangled illegibly. |

 | | Sneaky: <World Team Championship: Rd 2: Greece vs Russia : Russia [discard ticket]> You gotta be kidding me. The one time when I deviate from my strategy of buying up longshots, Buster Douglas comes out of nowhere and beats Tyson. Luckily I won some other bets to keep me solvent. But.... woah! |

Also, the person's profile no longer shows the ChessBookie logo, with the current Net Worth.> Has this bug been fixed yet? |
|
| Jan-07-10 | | Touch of Knight: Apparently I wasn’t aware it is a risky business investing money in Russia. Now I know. Good luck everybody! See you in April when the Spring Leg starts. <SwitchingQuylthulg> I have first hand evidence that the bug hasn’t been fixed. And I don’t mind because it leaves people like me a possibility to hide in shame. |

| Jan-08-10 | | refutor: holy crap! <wallytherhino> is in it to win it! |
|
| Jan-08-10 | | technical draw: <wallytherhino>? Sounds like a Texas Hold-em players name. I think we have a pro-gambler here. Hey, this was supposed to be for amateurs, what's with the ringer? |

We're aware of that but haven't gotten to correcting it. Sorry. To clarify, we're talking about somebody with say 2,057 in chessbucks and wagers, who coincidentally has exactly 2,057 in loans. That adds up to zero and the stupid software regards them as a non-player, even though they are very much "in the game". Of course nobody is denied access to play, it's just that the link from their profile page annoyingly disappears. You can always use the banner ad on the homepage or a number of other ways to access the ChessBookie Game. Also note that if you have a loan, at midnight you'll be charged interest and therefore you'll go from 0 net worth to some other amount and suddenly the bug will go away. So even if it's a nuisance at least it's a very rare and temporary nuisance. |

 | | martin moller: <Chessgames Bookie> I think it might be an idea to split the Championship leg in 2 parts, one for the top dogs, and one for us mortals :-) Because it is very hard to compete with guys beginning with 10 times the amount.
This will leave us with One World master, and one winner of the winther leg. AND more participants in the winther leg.
Best wishes.

| Jan-09-10 | | refutor: <The one time when I deviate from my strategy of buying up longshots> well you've had lots of longshots to pick from...will chessgames bookie bring it down to the game level at all during the team championship? |
|
| Jan-09-10 | | wordfunph: <CG Bookie>, <loanshark> can only afford to lend me $150...could you please convince him to raise my loan to at least $500? i'm currently at the cellar (last-placer) and i want to get out of the rot. Thank you and more power! |
|
| Jan-09-10 | | wordfunph: <CG Bookie>, how about Pick 3 (team results) in World Team Championship? Thanks. |
|
Jan-09-10
 | | Chessgames Bookie: <wordfunph> We'll start pick three betting on the rounds of the upcoming Corus tournament. |
|
| Jan-09-10 | | technical draw: <We'll start pick three betting on the rounds of the upcoming Corus tournament.> Good. I'll save my money for Corus. Those pick 3's are the money makers. |
|
| Jan-10-10 | | technical draw: Yes! I'm in the plus, $10,032. Now with Corus and those pick 3's and the finals of the team championship I might have a chance. Longshots to the rescue! |
|
| Jan-11-10 | | wordfunph: <Chessgames Bookie: <wordfunph> We'll start pick three betting on the rounds of the upcoming Corus tournament.> thanks <CG Bookie>... |
|
| Jan-11-10 | | NakoSonorense: I really dislike the maximum betting cap, especially during this leg when all those who started out with 10k can bet it all in one single bet. We, on the other hand, can only wager 200. |
