  WannaBe: Chessgames Bookie,

Can you explain or at least enlighten us on the time differential between the bets?

Why does the Dortmund winner bet closes so much earlier than the time first round game starts? And also why the time differences for the Perfecta?

Just curious...

WannaBe: Oh, I am off to a good start, looking at 2 losing tickets already!

Jul-15-10  malthrope: <wordfunph: i'm in cloud 9 after the first salvo of Summer Leg.. :)>

I'm right there with ya! (on 'cloud 9'). :XD

<WannaBe: Oh, I am off to a good start, looking at 2 losing tickets already!>

~ROFL~

Oh wait... <technical draw> has yet to check in! ~lol~ We want a full report!! ;)

PS: <WannaBe: Chessgames Bookie,

[...] Why does the Dortmund winner bet closes so much earlier than the time first round game starts? And also why the time differences for the Perfecta?

The <ChessBookie> has an old fashioned whacky time piece... I've heard through the grapevine that their clock actually uses springs. ~lol~ No wonder! o_O

Jul-15-10  wordfunph: <mal> <WannaBe> <all>, very interesting to see the leaderboard later..

let's check the heavyweights like <Switch> <Chnebel> <Winter> <Barok>..

Jul-15-10  malthrope: <wordfunph: <mal> <WannaBe> <all>, very interesting to see the leaderboard later..>

Hehehe... <wordfunph> - well, I must admit had a small piece of 'W-D-B' in Dortmund: Rd 1: Pick Three <my 'sheepish grin' exposed once again> ;)

<let's check the heavyweights like <Switch> <Chnebel> <Winter> <Barok>..>

Bring on the HEAVYWEIGHTS! ~lol~

<mal> may i know your "small piece" out of the $80 who bet on W-D-B? anyway, i lost $400 on two decisive games but also had that "small piece" on W-D-B.. :o)

where are the HEAVYWEIGHTS now? lol!

Jul-15-10  malthrope: <wordfunph: <malthrope> [...] <mal> may i know your "small piece" out of the $80 who bet on W-D-B? anyway, i lost $400 on two decisive games but also had that "small piece" on W-D-B.. :o)>

Had $23 c-bucks on it good for a payoff of $1,463. :))

However, like you lost on 'Kramnik (winning against) vs Le' and my various counter bets in the other Rd #1 - Pick-3's... :( Almost bet on the 'Shark' but hesitated at the very last moment... First <ChessBookie> Summer leg betting jitters?! ~lol~

<where are the HEAVYWEIGHTS now? lol!>

All waiting for Dortmund, Round #2 to begin I suspect! <*wink*>

- Mal

Jul-16-10  wordfunph: <mal> your handle will look good as #1 in the leaderboard later.. :)

my small piece in WDB was $20 but i was devastated with the huge $400 give-aways..

<<where are the HEAVYWEIGHTS now? lol! All waiting for Dortmund, Round #2 to begin I suspect! <*wink*>>

maybe looking for fortune in round #2...ah bad joke, sorry. :o)

<wordfunph> - many thanks for the kind words. :)

In all fairness though we'll have to wait it out as the individual bets went down like this:

<Kramnik-Le> - there was $5,853 in total bets with $2,956 on Vlad winning and $2,356 on a draw.

<Niaditsch-Mamedyarov> - there was $4,739 in total bets with $2,920 on a draw.

<Ponomariov-Leko> - there was $4,289 in total bets with $3,005 on a draw! ~lol~

For all the rookies... :)

As always, when making multiple bets (let's say 2 bets) you have to win them both, generally speaking, to WIN big. If you win one but lose the other it's usually a 'plus/minus' situation. Finally, if you lose them both - you lose your shirt! ~lol~ The good news is we were all limited to a max bet of $200 c-bucks (not counting the Pick-3) in the 1st betting round. ;)

We still have a l-o-n-g way to go! :P

- Mal

Jul-16-10  wordfunph: <mal> still a weird sound of silence from the SUPER HEAVYWEIGHTS, i guess we're in for a big surprise when leaderboard comes out.. :o) <malthrope: We still have a l-o-n-g way to go! :P>

<mal> unless <CG Bookie> stops the proceedings after the first round.. (with sheepish grin - to borrow your trademark).. :D

where is <TD>? ey, join us here with <mal>..

Well, we do! Two and one-half more months of heavy betting. ;)

<<mal> unless <CG Bookie> stops the proceedings after the first round.. (with sheepish grin - to borrow your trademark).. :D>

Hehehe... I'm just happy to some extra c-bucks, atm, to play with (not to mention the increase in my betting limit). Now I don't have to face budgeting my remaining funds quite so carefully! ;)

<where is <TD>? ey, join us here with <mal>..>

Where's that guy (our beloved <TD>) when you need him?! :P

Chessgames Bookie: <WannaBe> The Dortmund winner and perfecta bets were set up a couple weeks before the exact starting date and time of the first round were known, and i never got around to adjusting them when that information became available.
Jul-18-10  notyetagm: <BOOKIE> Time to put up the <BIEL> pairings for betting on Round 1.

Thanks

Jul-18-10  wordfunph: <notyetagm> as of this time, no pairings yet for Biel.. i guess <CGB> is still looking for someone who could provide the 1st round pairings..

SwitchingQuylthulg: Depends on if you're the only octopus account. If the octopus has multiple accounts, then it's cheating.
Jul-19-10  edsauced: The Biel tournament has not published its complete schedule, but with the current info (2 rounds) I deducted the pairing numbers. They are

1. Giri
2. Andreikin
3. Howell
4. Vachier
5. Rodshtein
6. Negi
7. Caruana
8. So
9. Nguyen
10. Tomashevsky

The complete pairings fixture could be found in various places, as... http://www.portaldeajedrez.cl/berge...

So, you can start offering bets on Biel games :)
