Sep-29-11  dakgootje: Yeah, I fell about 15 places due to several hundred bucks.

If he would've won -for which he had plenty opportunity- I'd have had about 2500cb :(

Sep-30-11  technical draw: I dropped 200 this round..Probably out of second, too...Oh, well, the action is good...
Sep-30-11  TheFocus: I picked 1,180 on Chucky-ducky, but did not even bet on Kid Curry's game.
Sep-30-11  technical draw: <TheFocus> Well I hope to see you on the leader board tomorrow.
Sep-30-11  TheFocus: I will have 1,780. May be there.
Oct-01-11  dakgootje: A 900-profit, had Vallejo managed to keep the draw. Now a 375 loss.

This is not my leg so far :P

Oct-01-11  dakgootje: Note that my exclamation "This is not my leg" should not be seen as proof that I have somatoparaphrenia.

Perhaps my mouth would claim as much - but that's because it does not belong to me. Someone must've left it behind.

Oct-01-11  technical draw: Wow, <Annie K> is on the leader board (5th). I thought she was just a nickels and dimes bettor. Well, good luck <Annie> and glad I'm we have other then the usual suspects on the leader board.
Oct-01-11  dakgootje: you, annie and hms on the leader-board! What were the odds on that?!

If this keeps up, I suppose we can expect dom to be the next chessbookie champion!

Oct-01-11  hms123: <dak> Not very high. I got lucky with Chucky and V-P. This won't last.
Oct-01-11  TheFocus: I was wrong. 1,980 for #7. Don't expect that to last long, not with my track record.
Oct-01-11  technical draw: <TheFocus> Just don't go hog wild. Play for at least a top ten finish.
Oct-01-11  dakgootje: Ugh, I had earlier on spend little time on the pick-3, thinking I could do that half an hour, or an hour, before the start of the games.

So I forgot, and was still in the process of pick-3'ing. Couldn't make some bets I would've liked to. Now hope not one of those comes in ;)

Certainly not the black-draw-draw as that seemed heavily undervalued.

Oct-01-11  technical draw: Holy mackerel, after a zillion bets I pick up just one (1) chessbuck in the last round! (well that's better than losing I guess)
Oct-02-11  Xenon Oxide: Hey <Chessbookie>:

Wouldn't it be cool if you posted a bet for the second leg (Bilbao) winner of the tournament?

Oct-02-11  dakgootje: I bet that's a cool idea.
Oct-03-11  technical draw: This just in from Langley:

- Top Secret, Eyes Only:

-Carlsen wins Bilbao-

nnnn

moronovich: Cause he is ultimately reBourned .
Oct-04-11  SloVice: For your half-time entertainment I would just like to comment on a few things and ask a question or two. Please feel free to comment on my inane ramblings.

1) I find myself in unfamiliar territory at this point, second on the leaderboard, not too far behind after several rounds of betting. Normally I'm well below 1000 cbs by now. What's different about this leg? Why am I doing so well while perennial favorites like <Sneaky>, <SwitchingQuylthulg>, <Robin01>, and <NakoSonorense> are having trouble?

Obviously it would be foolish to count them out. Also, others like <td> and <wordfunph> are certainly in this thing. I think I may be just getting lucky while more knowledgeable bettors are simply experiencing some strange results.

2)<wordfunph>'s Big Wig list: I think if simply maintain my top ten this leg I will only move up to #48 alone. However, if <wordfunph> moves up to the top ten (currently 11), I will still be in a tie for #48. It's tough to move up on this list.

Wins are huge, if by some miracle I win this leg, I'd move into the top 20 (#11 I think). If <number 23 NBer> can hold on, he'd immediately jump to a tie for #13. By the way, thanks for the list <wordfunph>, it must have quite a bit of time to compile that list.

3) The summer leg must have been an exceptionally tough leg. <leoloren> had the lowest winning total in more than 4 years (Spring 2007). And I still can't believe <Barok Espinosa>'s performance the Winter 2010. Unbelievable.

4)<Blunderdome>: Your name cracks me up. In my last tournament my tagline could have been "Welcome to another edition of Blunderdome!" I think I could have been most accurately described as a blundering patzer with occasional moments of marginal play.

5) The help page:
a) <Don't let a streak of bad-luck mess with your mind.> Whoops. A couple legs ago I couldn't buy a winning bet. I think I finished third from last.

b)<Don't tie up your money betting on longterm events.> Guilty, I've done it several times. Apparently I'm a slow learner too.

SwitchingQuylthulg: <SloVice: 3) The summer leg must have been an exceptionally tough leg.>

The summer leg quite simply featured lots of downtime without any betting opportunities available. I've yet to see a gambler who can earn huge heaps of $$$ without anything to bet on :)

Oct-09-11  preakles: Why can't I bet all my chessbucks in one of the match?

In simular contests there is a limit because in the end it is (also) about measuring skills, hence trying to reduce the luckfactor by spreading ones bets.I suppose that goes for CG as well.
