A little disappointed it took so long to get my momentum, but I can't complain about the result

Sep-19-11  SloVice: I might be okay to qualify -- 4985 chessbucks
Sep-19-11  Ragh: dakgootje, there goes it.. that is atleast 20 people ahead of me. Estimating that there are about 4 high-flying gamblers for every one that posted here :)
Sep-19-11  dakgootje: Hmm.. I don't know. It certainly is coming down the wire.

Having some serious doubts.

Chessgames Bookie: In an exciting last minute betting spree the leaderboard got jumbled around and here's how the pieces fell:

(1) User: leoloren added to his already huge score to ensure 1st place with 12,490 chessbucks! A year premium membership has been added to his account.

(2) User: CRISMELDRE tried hard to catch leo but came just 500 chessbucks short and finished with 11,923 c$.

(3) User: TIMER a longtime chessgames member scored 3rd place with 5,382 c$.

Other qualifying runner-ups:

(4) AnimusEtOblivio 5,341

(5) SloVice 4,985

(6) 4tmac 4,700

(7) wordfunph 4,630

(8) moulicules 4,100

(9) dakgootje 3,863

(10) Ragh 3,701

Congratulations to the winners.

The Fall Leg will begin in just a few days and will start off with betting on the Bilbao tournament. Good luck!

Sep-19-11  technical draw: Ragh! You did it! (just barely, lol)
Sep-19-11  technical draw: Congratulations to <leoloren>, CRISMELDRE and TIMER....(plus the rest of the qualifiers)...
Sep-19-11  dakgootje: Raaaaaawwwrrrghh! We made it! :D

perfidious: <td> It can very well be-in my poker career, I've known some who couldn't adjust when needed, always playing it safe, and they came to grief sooner or later.
Sep-19-11  dakgootje: Thank you :)

<not gambling is gambling!> I wonder whether this means I've finally proven some age-old theorem. If it does, and I get millions for it, then you will obviously get $20 for pointing it out

Sep-19-11  technical draw: On not gambling is gambling: Suppose you are playing the roulette wheel and you keep betting $10 on number 17. Each spin is a bet. Now suppose you decide not to bet on the next spin. Now you are actually betting that number 17 will NOT hit.

Each loss bet costs you $10 but the loss on the non-bet will cost you $350.

This happens often when people play the same or favorite number. They don't play it and it hits. The anecdotal evidence is overwhelming. (but probably BS!)

Sep-19-11  wordfunph: congrats to <leoloren> <CRISMELDRE> <TIMER>, top 10 placers, and all bookie addicts!

will soon update the running list of Hall of Famers..

i'm particularly happy by the enthusiasm of <dakgootje>, wishing you success in the coming leg, yodamannnn!

<CG Bookie>, thanks for the great effort and success of the 2011 Spring Leg.

see you <all> in Bilbao for the start of the Fall Leg..

Sep-19-11  technical draw: Bilbao, great. I start by betting 100cb's on Anand to beat Carlsen in their first game...

Thanks sir! I'll try to keep the results up :)

And otherwise I'll be cheery as possible while losing ;)

Sep-20-11  Ragh: <<TD> <dakkie>> With your wishes and tips, apparently, I just sneaked in to the standings with the 10th place.

So, this means that the Christmas bonus this time will be 10 times the regular amount. :)

Chessgames Bookie: (Excellent stats wordfunph, thanks)

∞ And now, presenting ... the FALL LEG!!! And our first bet,

Bilbao Masters: WINNER featuring "The Lightning Kid" Anand, Magnus "Bad Boy" Carlsen, Hikaru "Knuckles" Nakamura, Vassily "Madman" Ivanchuk, Levon "Jet Plane" Aronian, and hometown legend Paco Vallejo (taking your) Pons. What a great way to get the leg started!

For those who don't want to wait 21 days to get paid, we made a more short-term bet on who the winner is after the first leg (5 rounds) in Brazil: Bilbao Masters: WINNER OF SÃO PAULO LEG

Of course we'll have round-by-round betting as well. Good luck!

Sep-21-11  dakgootje: Bwahaha, the Super Six

I think I'll bet on whoever has the weirdest nickname ;)

Sep-21-11  technical draw: Ha!, The bookie got scared and put <Knuckle Sandwich> first. I think I'll change my name to "brass knuckles"...
Sep-29-11  technical draw: Ok, I jump from 4 places from the bottom (140th place) to 2nd place in one day. So never lose hope even if you're last. Now I have to try and at least maintain a top ten finish.
