Penguincw: Won 300+. Doesn't seem much, till you consider that my max. bet is still 200. No secret. Just picking the easy games + wager a small amount on an upset. Wait, that was the secret. Darn!
Jan-16-12  TheFocus: <Wait, that was the secret. Darn!>

A-HA!!

My max bet for Pick Three is 200, but I got to bet 250. Hmmm?

Jan-16-12  technical draw: I could give you tomorrow's winning pick 3 combo but that will just lower my payoff so eat my dust losers!
Jan-16-12  wordfunph: P3 saved the day :)

round 3: +781

Jan-16-12  AnimusEtOblivio: After a successful round 3, I am finally on the plus side.

My "safe" bet came through with the draw between Caruana and Naka, and Carlsen and Radjabov both brought the heat needed to make the day a success. Unfortunately my winnings were hindered a bit by Giri's failure to hold a draw.

Regardless, I am traveling in the right direction.

Speaking of right direction, Carlsen seems to be at the top of his game. This should make the betting very interesting.

Penguincw: If only the tournament ended today. Then, the following tickets would pay.

Tata Steel: A Group

Carlsen 12:11

Tata Steel: Quinella (A group)

Radjabov-Any 12:1
Carlsen-Aronian 7:2
Caruana-Any 32:1

Tata Steel: B Group

Harikrishna 8:1
L'Ami 38:1

Tata Steel: C Group

Turov 4:1

Some with great odds.

< TheFocus: <Wait, that was the secret. Darn!>

A-HA!! >

Well, it's not like you're going to use it. :) If you are, darn. :(

Jan-17-12  dakgootje: <My max bet for Pick Three is 200, but I got to bet 250. Hmmm?>

The max-bet is for single options - you can get over it, for a game, by betting multiple options on the same bet.

Seems like I'm going to take some big risks today.

Jan-17-12  TheFocus: <Seems like I'm going to take some big risks today.>

Me too. A lot of risks for this round.

Jan-17-12  wordfunph: early surge by our mate <Chnebelgrind>, gaining $11,108 in just 3 rounds. Magnifico!

Jan-17-12  dakgootje: <Me too. A lot of risks for this round.>

Indeed. This is not a leg to avoid risks.. but I've never even come close to the amount I'm taking this round.

7210 at stake this round.. and I didn't even aim to bet this much. The edges simply seem there.

This is not going to be good for my heart ;)

Jan-17-12  dakgootje: ..and Karjakin starts off with some Berlin only to trade queens at move 8.

Sure, Short lost at London shortly ago that position as white.. but it isn't really what I wanted to see - having 600 on Karjakin.

Penguincw: Amazing that no one has a negative net worth, yet...
Jan-17-12  ughaibu: Can one bet on where Bidmonfa will strike next?
Jan-17-12  technical draw: Oooh, not a single win today. I'm afraid to calculate my next net worth.

SwitchingQuylthulg: <Bookie> Caruana-Carlsen was drawn, you'll have to redo that and the pick three.
Jan-17-12  technical draw: Mistakes, mistakes? I don't know from mistakes. I got awarded with some unearned cash and I'm keeping my mouth shut. Let's just say it's in the rules. Money paid shall not be returned.
Jan-17-12  dakgootje: Indeed - with this result I have earned 3812 on the pick-3. No complaints here :D

Then again, I also had the Car/Car-draw and the draw/draw/draw - which earns me about 2500. So both are fine with me ;)

--

Also, I have a little confession to make: I've been a bit lucky today ;)

Seemed like both Aronian and Karjakin were heading for a draw - which would give me a loss on the day of around 900. Instead, both came through for a pretty terrific profit :)

chessgames.com: Due to the mix-up regarding the Caruana-Carlsen game today, we had to revoke the payoffs on the Caruana-Carlsen bet as well as the pick three. We will pay them off again shortly.

Some people who cashed in Caruana-winnings tickets had money forcibly removed from their account.

Ok, but I was nice to pretend for a while ... ;-)

Penguincw: Karjakin stopped me from earning big profits. :(
Jan-17-12  TheFocus: I am bleeding chessbucks over here.

But, I do have to say - Four rounds and these patzers need a day off to rest! Four games in four days and you have to rest?

Boy, in my day (if I ever had one), we would play entire tournaments without a day off. Stinking patzers! Just a bunch of namby-pamby grandmasters.
