Chessgames Bookie: Regarding the removal of Morozevich and specifically today's game with Carlsen:

Our rules (ChessBookie Game Help Page) state

<If you make a bet on a player who ends up canceling from a tournament, or if an entire event is canceled, your ticket(s) for this event will be marked "refund" and you may redeem your ticket(s) for a full refund of its face value. Note that all forfeited games are treated as losses and are not liable for refunds.>

So the question is whether or not Magnus will receive a *forfeit* victory today. We have read from the official press release that he will replay today's game against Morozevich during the rest-day against Bologan. Therefore in no sense did Magnus receive a win by forfeit, and so I took the proper course of refunding all bets on Morozevich at full face value. That includes upcoming pick-threes that involved Morozevich games.

Get well Moro.

Jul-25-12  WinKing: <chessbookie> your Round 4 game for Biel is still listed as Morozevich-Nakamura. Should be Bologan-Nakamura no?
Jul-25-12  WinKing: Ok I see you just updated the Bologan-Nakamura game. Thank you <chessbookie>.

Chessgames Bookie: You bring up a very good point hms, if you have money on Morozevich to win Biel outright perhaps it is only right that you receive a refund.

When we wrote the rules <If you make a bet on a player who ends up canceling from a tournament> we had in mind that their appearance would be canceled entirely beforehand, but I think it's in the spirit of the rules to regard Morozevich's unfortunate withdrawal as a cancellation and in no way a loss, beyond those first two rounds.

Let me confirm with my boss, then if everything seems 100% according-to-Hoyle proper, then we'll issue refunds on all Morozevich tickets.

Incidentally, if by some miracle Bologan overcomes his 0/2 deficit and wins Biel outright, we would have to refund everybody's bet, since there has to be money on at least one winning outcome for the bet to be settled normally.

Chessgames Bookie: We now have betting for World Junior Chess Championship: WINNER.

Please note that this event has already started. The bet will remain open for about 36 hours and a new round will be completed in that time--the smart bettor will simply have to take that into consideration when betting :)
