Chessgames Bookie: <you vs yourself: If the official site is right, then I bet all my loans on round 5 pairings. Maybe you should think about refunding our chessbucks and open up the new bettings. Thanks!>

You are right, we listed round 5 games for round 4 and vice versa.

Here's what we're going to do. We will refund all bets for what is current labelled as "round 4" (really round 5). We will then rename round 5 to read round 4. That way you can have your money back to wager on tomorrow's games.

Sorry about the mix-up.

May-13-06  DutchDunce: Shewt. All I need is one of my long shots to come in to get back to a positive net worth. Instead, the long shots that I don't bet on come in, while I have to keep on visiting Fat Bald for another 100 loaners. I'm definitely not hitting the books at Las Vegas this year.

Still, it's been fun. Cheers to CG.com for instituting this.

WannaBe: <chess bookie> You refunded the individual match bets, can you also refund the pick3 bets? Because I made the bets based upon the wrong line-up (Round 4/5 mixup)!!
May-14-06  percyblakeney: Nice, got my 1000 back, now I'll change my strategy and go for lots of smaller bets instead, it's more fun...

Open Defence: <Wannabe> what is the handicapper's corner ??
May-14-06  Joshka: <ChessgamesBookie> Believe it's called the US National Open in Vegas, for June of 06. The US Open is usually in August.
May-14-06  percyblakeney: Betting on everything that moves today: All draws in Sofia, wins for Malakhov and Sasikiran but draw for Nisipeanu in Sarajevo, some small bets on pick three in case the day isn't drawish in Sofia. Best odds: Sasikiran beating Carlsen to 6.39.
May-14-06  dakgootje: <Nice, got my 1000 back, now I'll change my strategy and go for lots of smaller bets instead, it's more fun...> tried that for some time...well you can see where it leads... atm ive got around 600 chessbucks...so i doubt its a good strategy ;-)
May-14-06  percyblakeney: <i doubt its a good strategy ;-)> I know that now :-)

WannaBe: <Open Defence> Handicapper's corner is where I use the search function and get a past records of the players and how they have done before. See my previous posts.

(Like that has helped me in my betting... Don't know if anyone actually use it in their betting.)

WannaBe: (Kinda of a re-post, due to the mix up of the scheduling...)

Handicapper's Corner for Round 5...

Topalov-Kamsky
Topalov leads +2 -0 =2, with white pieces, Topalov is +1 -0 =1.

Svidler-Anand
Anand leads +6 -2 =19, with white pieces, Svidler is +1 -0 =13.

Ponomariov-Bacrot
Bacrot leads +2 -1 =5, with white pieces, Ponomariov is +1 -1 =2.

Good luck everyone!!

Open Defence: <Wannabe> handicapper's corner should have helped in predicting Kamsky-Anand .... but I think I should start a tale of the tape (or board) post to share my thoughts .. I thought Svidler was in a jam today as his whole strategy at Sofia has appeared very drawish and this was dangerous against a superb end game player like Kamsky .. turned out Kamsky didnt need the end game though..

Chessgames Bookie: Some "exotics" for tomorrow:

The ever popular Mtel Masters Rd5: Pick Three (with odds going as high as 230:1 for some picks) as well as Mtel Masters Rd5: HOW MANY DRAWS?.

Looking ahead, we've opened up betting on Mtel Masters Rd6: Topalov vs Svidler: OPENING.

Good luck!

May-14-06  JOHNNY YORK: When will the tickets be updated. I have a bunch of tickets still out for the Carlsen and Naid match?

Chessgames Bookie: Johnny, we just paid off round 8 Bosna tickets.

Sneaky: I just realized, I am the proud owner of a 2 chessbuck ticket for the Kamsky-Anand perfecta. Fingers crossed!! Surprising that the odds are "only" 83:1. I guess any ticket with Anand in it was a hot seller.
May-14-06  JOHNNY YORK: thank you #4 on the list!!!

I think I'm gonna take a loan and bet all my money on one game. What do yal think I should put it on??

May-14-06  refutor: the how many draws...it's a lot less random than some of the other ones (in my patzer opinion)
May-15-06  percyblakeney: Today is a day for heavy betting, 1300 placed this far, may be more later...
May-15-06  TIMER: I might be in second to last place with -2120 with only about a month to go, but I haven't given up!

If things go my way, I will be back in the positives by tommorrow!

I have been foolish with my chessbucks going from 0 to 4500 second behind giantwizard to 0 to 1100 to -2120, risking too much at times of bad luck! But it is not over!

There is always the next season, but that is defeatest talk!

May-15-06  ARMENIA: WOW there is a lot of stake on Armenia to win the Gold Medal
May-15-06  percyblakeney: Took half of my Topalov 1000 and put on draw for Malakhov, and then kept betting against Carlsen, but no disastrous day anyway...
May-15-06  TrueBlue: that's messed up. I put 1000 on Topalov to beat Kamsky. And there were great ods, like 4:1. I log in now only to find out the betting is canceled. That doesn't seem fair. Not much fun to win and get nothing. I don't think I will play any more.
