May-15-06  radu stancu: <TrueBlue> There's been an error in the pairings and sometimes before round 4 they switched the round 4 and round 5 pairings. That's why Topa - Kamsky Rd 4 is canceled, but Topa - Kamsky in Rd 5 was still there. If you replaced your bet there, you're lucky. :)
May-15-06  TrueBlue: radu, no I didn't. It still seems totally unfair. Even if I replaced my bet, it would have been totally different odds! And I don't log in to the site every day. I thought placing the bet once was enough. And I don't see why it metters what round they are playing? I just think Topalov can wipe the floor with Kamsky (regardless of what round they are playing) and that's exactlly what happened. If this was real betting, this would have been totally unprofessional. But since it is make belief, I will just stop wasting my time here.
May-15-06  technical draw: # 246 on the list! Well the Vegas King got a late start and had a little trouble understanding the betting set-up. But beware! I got it pat now, should be in the top ten pronto.! By the way them loan sharks are pussy cats. I got a 300 loan for only 3 chessbucks. Can't make a livin like that. I thought my kneecaps were in trble until I saw a dude into them for almost 3 grand. See ya, Vegas King...
May-15-06  refutor: <chessgames bookie>for people like <true blue> you should have a link of something like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parimu... at the top of the page. it seems to raise more ire than anything this side of AJ ;)

Chessgames Bookie: TrueBlue <that's messed up. I put 1000 on Topalov to beat Kamsky> you put 1000 on Topalov to beat Kamsky in round #5, but that game never happened. It's entirely our error for opening betting on a game which wasn't scheduled, but as soon as something is wrong with a bet the most fair thing to do is to cancel all bets and start over.

You're right: if this was all real money, somebody would have a full-time job doing nothing but making sure that all of this is done perfectly, and two more people would be employed to double and triple check the first guy. But it's not real money, and chessgames offers this as a small diversion, not as a main feature. We have to just do the best we can with limited resources. Sorry you feel cheated, but like you say, it's just for fun.

May-15-06  TrueBlue: well, I actualy put the money on Topalov to beat Kamsky with white and I don't see how the round has anything to do with it. But it is OK, because it is not real money. If it was real money, I would have DEMANDED my winnings :)

WannaBe: Handicapper's Corner for Round 6.

Topalov-Svidler
Topalov leads it +9 -7 =11, when Topalov has white pieces, he is +2 -2 =7. (If the odds are favorable, take Svidler =)

Ponomariov-Kamsky
The database only have these two players playing against each other once, and that was earlier in the MTel. With a result of 1/2-1/2. The game is Ponomariov vs Kamsky, 2006.

Anand-Bacrot
Bacrot has never beaten Anand, Anand is +6 -0 =0!!

Good luck in round 6 everyone!! We do have an off-day. =)

May-15-06  technical draw: Vegas King Tips for round 6.

Ponomariov-Kamsky
Right now good odds for Pono at 7 to 1..

On a late bet, bet any player to win if odds are 3 to 1 or greater.

chessgames.com: <TrueBlue> I take your side. If the software had better features it could allow for tickets to be refunded upon request, rather than automatically voiding a number of tickets. We still have two more legs before the Championship so there is still time work the bugs out. Thanks for your contributions.
May-15-06  technical draw: Vegas King hot tips...

Be sure to check out the handle before making a bet. Bet as near to closing time as possible. If the handle is low and your bet is high you'll see the odds take a big dip.

May-16-06  TIMER: I won't be positive yet, as I have just played it safe so that if things don't go my way I don't lose so much, but that cuts into my profit margin.

But I aim to get back over 2000 within the next two weeks!

May-16-06  percyblakeney: The early bet strategy for me today, it will be interesting to see if my biggest single investment this far will mean success or failure...
May-16-06  percyblakeney: Thanks, Nisipeanu and Malakhov :-)

Chessgames Bookie: We have an added an exotic wagering proposition. Which player will give the first check in round 6?

Mtel Master Rd6: First Check

May-16-06  technical draw: Vegas King Info:

That first check proposition is a little hard. You'll have to check the opening probabilities and check through the opening explorer to see on average which side checks first. Hard work pays off!

May-16-06  percyblakeney: <First Check> Here's the opening to hope for...

Mark Menezes vs M Shahade, 2002

May-16-06  cavaleiro: When will Rd 10 Bosna tickets be paid off? I need funds to bet on Mtel Master Rd 6!!!!
May-16-06  Phi: Me too, I spent my last 5 bucks for the first check! I guess it will be Kamsky!
May-16-06  Knight13: You steal away all my money!!! :-P
May-16-06  refutor: refutor's hot tips - don't take tips from two guys who have 700 chessbucks between them ;)

  Sneaky: First check? Cool!

OK... who plays the Bogo Indian?? ;-)

May-16-06  technical draw: <refutor> Ah! The voice of one that is momentarily on top of the heap, king of the hill! I've seen them handing out hundred dollar tips one day and the next day they're tap city looking for somebody that'll lay a 20 on them. Let's wait until the end of the year and see who the real Vegas King is!

WannaBe: <Chessgames Bookie> Question on this first check bet.. if 2 white or 2 black are the first check, do you pay off both? Or is that considered a 'None'.

(I'm also trying to figure out how this None would work... Someone has to check...)

Chessgames Bookie: If there's a tie, then all tied tickets will be paid off. The "none" ticket wins if there isn't a single check in all three games!
