cu8sfan: <However, there is a more serious issue I must now address. It has come to our attention that a certain user "giantwizard" has probably cheated> I was also in the beta-tester group and I wonder, what did we overlook...
May-12-06  Holden: <Doctor Who> <being a Time Lord does indeed have its advantages> Hey, it's unethical to jump in the Tardis and travel forward in time to see who's going to win!
May-13-06  percyblakeney: Today's bets: 100 each on win for Anand, draw in Carlsen-Nisipeanu and draw in Bacrot-Svidler.
May-13-06  IdleFellow: If I make a bet, and then the odds change, my payout/loss will be computed using the final odds, or the odds that were in place when I made my bet?
May-13-06  percyblakeney: <IdleFellow> The final odds is the one that counts.
May-13-06  IdleFellow: <percyblakeney> That isn't really fair, because I can't rely on the fact that, if I win, I get X chessbucks...it might be much less than that.
May-13-06  percyblakeney: Whatever type of dubious activities that have been going on with <manipulating the game> may have a connection to all the accounts with (at the moment) -510 that occurred and disappeared May 11th...
May-13-06  percyblakeney: <IdleFellow> Life isn't fair :-) But it would also be strange if I bet 5000 as an early bet on Topalov beating Kamsky, get 20 times the money while all others get 1.01...

WannaBe: Looks like I'm gonna lose all my bets on MTel's Rd 3. Negative account here I come. Back to the O' loan shark and grovel for more money. =(

WannaBe: Handicapper's Corner for Round 4... (Like it's gonna help...)

Topalov-Kamsky
Topalov leads +2 -0 =2, with white pieces, Topalov is +1 -0 =1.

Svidler-Anand
Anand leads +6 -2 =19, with white pieces, Svidler is +1 -0 =13.

Ponomariov-Bacrot
Bacrot leads +2 -1 =5, with white pieces, Ponomariov is +1 -1 =2.

Good luck everyone!!

May-13-06  refutor: naiditsch has cost me more money in this chessbookie game than anybody....

Open Defence: i won both my bets .. pono-svid draw and nisi-carlsen draw but the bookie is still showing live bet on the tickets :(
May-13-06  percyblakeney: It does feel a bit as if it's time for Kamsky to finally show that he's mortal in the next round...
May-13-06  Doctor Who: <Mtel Masters Rd3: Anand vs Kamsky : Kamsky [cash in ticket] 125 YOU WIN! COLLECT 2034 >

It's good to have a Tardis.

May-13-06  Chess Classics: When does the spring leg end? I've gone from $600 to $2500 and I just need a little more time to work things out, i.e. get in the top 10. (Or is it the top 12 to qualify?)

Regards,
CC

Open Defence: i dont see giantwizards name on the leader board anymore has he already made the hall of fame ?
May-13-06  naamloos: <Open Defence> Not quite. He turned out to be doing naughty things in order to make his chessbucks.
May-13-06  ksadler: I just want to say that the chess bookie is a great addition to this site (even though I am just up a few hundred chess bucks). As a possible improvement, can for instance if you are looking at a page of betting between Anand and Topalov, could a link to the chessgames.com pages for those players be put on the page? I know I'm just being lazy, but it would be a neat addition I'd think.

Chessgames Bookie: <all> The Spring Leg will end in Las Vegas, on June 18th, with the 2006 US Open. The game may remain offline for a day or so at that time while we post the winners to the Hall of Fame, reset everybody's account, and open bets for the summer events.

<WannaBe> Your "Handicapper's Corner" makes a delightful addition to this page. Good show.

<Open Defence> There's a discussion of that subject if you go back a page or two.

<<IdleFellow> That isn't really fair, because I can't rely on the fact that, if I win, I get X chessbucks...it might be much less than that.> Yes, but remember, sometimes your odds may improve! Don't assume the system can only work against you; in theory, your early bets will entice people to take the opposing positions, since those are the odds you sweetened. There are other betting models where odds are locked in at the time of the bet, but they are much more complicated and restrictive. Finally, for the true ChessBookie addicts, you can always wait right before the betting closes so you know exactly the odds you are receiving.

<ksadler> That's a good idea, but it's a lot of work keeping up with the game as it stands. We'll see if we can make the software have more automated features to help us with things like that.

May-13-06  Ezzy: <Chessgames Bookie: <all> The Spring Leg will end in Las Vegas,> Where else would a bookie choose!

WannaBe: <Dr Who: ... It's good to have a Tardis.> Can I borrow it? Pleeeeeeease?

<Chessgames Bookie: <WannaBe> Your "Handicapper's Corner" makes a delightful addition to this page. Good show.> Great, now change my account to + 1 gajillion. =)

May-13-06  you vs yourself: <chessgames bookie> The official site and TWIC list the following as round 4 pairings:

Bacrot-Topalov
Anand-Ponomariov
Kamsky-Svilder

May-13-06  you vs yourself: If the official site is right, then I bet all my loans on round 5 pairings. Maybe you should think about refunding our chessbucks and open up the new bettings. Thanks!

WannaBe: Handicapper's Corner (New pairing =)

Bacrot-Topalov
Topalov leads +4 -0 =5, when Bacrot has white pieces, he is +0 -3 =1

Anand-Ponomariov
Anand leads +6 -1 =11, when Anand has white pieces, he is +5 -0 =4

Kamsky-Svidler
has played once, the game was a draw. This was the game: Svidler vs Kamsky, 1995

May-13-06  percyblakeney: Ouch, was a bit too early to put my 1000 on Topalov beating Kamsky, it felt right with Kamsky losing immediately after beating Anand, I'm less certain he'll be beaten with white aganist Svidler, though...
