| Apr-21-14 | | technical draw: Next game I'm going for that double rook. |
| Apr-21-14 | | dakgootje: I'd settle for a single rook ;)
But I'll probably go all or nothing next leg - so I'll probably go broke, and perhaps win the leg, with little in between :P By the way, the Gashimov is underway - second round was today, so perhaps it's time to start the new leg :) |

| Apr-21-14 | | notyetagm: <BOOKIE>
When does the next round of fake betting begin? I thought it would start with the Gashimov Memorial (2014). Thanks |

 | | offramp: Can I once again put in a recommendation that the word chessbucks be changed to tals? I think it's a short word that <looks> like it might be a currency. I think Tal was a bit if a gambler; also the word <dollar> comes from the word <thal>/<thaler>. |
| Apr-23-14 | | SugarDom: What's wrong with chess bucks? |
| May-05-14 | | brankat: It's been only 5 weeks without any action. No big deal. We can wait until January. By then the Bookie may even be back from his holidays. |
| May-15-14 | | wordfunph: <Bookie> action please!? |
May-15-14
 | | juan31: Mister Bookie: i know you must take a vacations, ¿ are you in Cancun, Fidji Islands, maybe Alaska? If your ocupations permit, answer, ¿ or not can do? Just to know that still lives, Gracias |

 | | moronovich: Bookie missing in action ??? ;)
Or BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOkie |
| May-19-14 | | technical draw: The bookie booked with all the money. Angelo "six fingers" Giacomo was sent to look for him. You can run but you can't hide. |
| May-20-14 | | technical draw: <Sorry, the Chessbookie Game is on hiatus.> Never tried that. Is it better than acid? |
| May-21-14 | | wordfunph: 40 days and ticking..
go <Chessgames Bookie>! |
May-21-14
 | | Stonehenge: I hear Angelo "six fingers" Giacomo and Tony "snake eyes" Cosanostra want to pop him, so I don't think we will see Bookie here again. |
| May-31-14 | | wordfunph: i won't visit my barber until <cg bookie> comes up and say, "let's get ready to rumble!!!" |
| May-31-14 | | wordfunph: i'm getting rusty. |
| Jun-03-14 | | AnimusEtOblivio: I am not sure how I am supposed to lose all my dough in faulty speculations without the Bookie in town. This is a problem. |

 | | chessgames.com: Ladies and gentleman:
There was a potential cheating scandal last leg, which if true, means that several accounts were being maintained by one person. We have no absolute proof, but the silence of certain members speaks volumes. We've known for years that the popularity of the game has waned, and combined with the possibility that a large number of players were really sockpuppets, this means it may be worse than we imagined. Furthermore it had become burdensome to run the game for a small number of fans. We are considering three options:
1. Taking a leg off from the ChessBookie game and resuming it, possibly with some software changes to make the game more appealing. 2. Recruiting a CG member volunteer to help us maintain the game. 3. Discontinuing it indefinitely.
We've always considered ChessBookie! to be one of the most creative and original site features and it would be a shame to discontinue it, so options 1 and 2 are the most appealing. A decision must be made soon. If anybody is interested in maintaining the game under Daniel's supervision please email chess@chessgames.com. |

Since options 1 and 2 are not mutually exclusive, why not implement both of them? |

| Jun-12-14 | | ChessWriter: Well, this stinks. Just how bad was popularity waning? CB is still one of the only reasons I come to CG.com on a regular basis. Even if there were cheaters, which doesn't surprise me given that some players seem to get *very* lucky compared to others, I still don't care. There's no real money changing hands, and when I win it's even sweeter when you know there may be cheaters who were defeated. Every leg there was about 250 entries, no? What kind of participation rate were you looking for? |
