 | | Penguincw: Hi <Chessgames Bookie>. I'd just like to ask a few questions that are good for future reference. Firstly, I noticed for Biel rd 3: PICK THREE there are some outcomes that no one wagered chessbucks on. If those bets actually win, do all bets get refunded? Also, I keep hearing <the earlier you place your bets, the better odds you'll get in the end as the market will digest them>. How does that work, like does it really matter if a bet is in 5 hours before the event vs. 5 seconds? Thanks. |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: <Penguincw: Firstly, I noticed for Biel rd 3: PICK THREE there are some outcomes that no one wagered chessbucks on. If those bets actually win, do all bets get refunded?> In case a pick three outcome no one wagered on happens to hit, all tickets that got two out of three games right will be winners. <Also, I keep hearing <the earlier you place your bets, the better odds you'll get in the end as the market will digest them>. How does that work, like does it really matter if a bet is in 5 hours before the event vs. 5 seconds? Thanks.> If your bet is tiny, it likely won't make much of a difference whether you place it 5 hours or 5 seconds before betting closes. (Indeed, with a tiny bet it's usually best to place it as late as possible so you can be sure the odds are in your favor.) However, placing a large bet with 5 seconds to go is usually unwise as you will ruin your own odds; if you make the same large bet earlier, the market will react to the change in odds (i.e. other bettors will see the improved odds for the other outcomes and bet on those instead) and you'll get better odds than you would have if you'd placed your bet later. There are some exceptions, but the rule of thumb is: if you already know which results you're going to bet on, place your bets as early as possible. |

Does this mean no more Watchlist updates? ;)
I'm back in the black, myself...
BTW, the Hou Special (both wins and losses) could be paid off already? :) |

I think this article (where the organisers said they will allow the relevant teams to play) means <YES>:

| Jul-21-14 | | MarkFinan: I was just about to ask the same. So they're taking part and us "Yes" gamblers get paid? Well if they've played a game then they're participating. |
