Jan-13-15  centralfiles: The loanshark won't give me another loan i have no idea why

SwitchingQuylthulg: <centralfiles> The Loanshark will only offer you a loan if one or both of the following conditions are met:

• You don't have an existing loan, or only have a small existing loan of less than about half your net worth. (Generally, any loan you're offered - whether you already have a loan or not - is calculated so your total loan if you accept will be equal to approximately half your net worth, which we might call your loan cap.)

• You're doing so badly you qualify for a hard luck loan, in which case the loan cap at half your net worth won't apply and loan offers will be based on your credit rating instead. (Though you've been unlucky so far, you won't qualify for a hard luck loan yet; your net worth will have to be below or very close to zero, and your funds should also be close to zero.)

In addition to the above, you can only get one loan per calendar day, unless you've fully paid back your previous loan before requesting the new one.

Jan-13-15  centralfiles: Thanks <Switch> Didn't know about the Hard luck Qualification, I guess I never tried to take a loan when I wasn't totally down before.

Annie K.: Thanks for helping out, <Switch>!

<scout118> I meant I am usually at work during the live game hours. :)

<centralfiles> the "in play" Tournament winner bet is not a bad idea, but I think after round 4 is too early. Maybe I'll set one up for the next rest day.

Jan-14-15  bubuli55: Same deal here centralfiles. Couldn't get loan the past 3 days. I have a 5K loan with a net worth of 2K.

The thing is have zero funds. I can't play I guess until after my present bets are resolved which is after the Tata tourney. Which means I'm out of the running. And which means I'm out of luck. To put it nicely :)

Ah, your day job of course. BTW, thanks for volunteering to run this bookie leg! Must be awfully time-consuming, with so many tough customers who treasure their CB bucks like gold. ;>

Sneaky: Something I've noticed because of the Chessbookie game: Van Wely gets no respect. If he plays against a Super GM, he gets a hundred to one odds. If he plays against some no-name, "eh, could go ether way." No love at all for Van Wely.
Jan-15-15  bubuli55: Eventho my credit score is 180, Mr. Curmungeonly Loanshark One just won't even entertain me.

Hello? Can I play?

Jan-15-15  centralfiles: I put 1500 chessbucks on So when the odds were decent, only to have someone drop 10000 on it at the last minute. being that we both lost I guess Ill get to see who the culprit was.
Jan-15-15  technical draw: <centrafiles> I can't bet 10,000 cbs. My limit is 5,000. So maybe 2 players bet 5,000.

Penguincw: I hate to try to ruin the privacy of the one that lost the So bet, but try comparing the current leaderboard with the 2nd most recent one: http://web.archive.org/web/20150115....

I couldn't find who it was. :(

Jan-16-15  bubuli55: And I can't get a loan still. Nombre

WannaBe: Well, the first leg of the So-So bet was good, let's hope he can deliver the second leg of that bet for moi!!
Jan-17-15  bubuli55: < The Loanshark is your guarantee that you can always play the game. >

Misdirection.

  Penguincw: My 5 cents:

I think regardless of your loan or net worth or live tickets or whatever, the Loanshark should always offer you one loan/day, even if it's only 100 cbs.

Inflation in the game shouldn't be a problem, it happens all the time...

P.S. Looks like the Epic Game bet is going to be settled today.

Jan-17-15  bubuli55: Yes! Thank you Loanshark :)
Jan-17-15  bubuli55: But no thanks!

Penguincw: Hmph. Not doing so well in Tata Steel, but I guess it could be worse, 'cause I think last night, someone dumped 10K on Carlsen-Radjabov 1/2-1/2. A few days ago, someone claimed 10K being put on So winning a game. Both of them lost.

So, who's going to put the next 10K bet?

Annie K.: I see Short seems to have withdrawn from Gibraltar... will cancel his line in the winner bet a bit later. Then I'll put up some fun bets too. :)
