Annie K.: <WinKing> He was registered a couple of days before the start of the tournament, but you're right, his name is gone from the list now, and he didn't seem to have played at all. In this case, yes, I'll refund his bets.

I wonder who has the other half...

Mar-01-15  MarkFinan: Penguincw.. I won 550 from a $5 bet on Tomasevsky to win the last tournament. 🙋

I just wondered when this leg ends? I don't think the bookies speaking to me for some reason, so does anyone else amongst the gamblers here know?

  Annie K.: Hi <Mark> - why wouldn't I be speaking to you? :)

You addressed your earlier question to <cg>, so I left it to them, but I don't think they usually read this forum.

The Championship leg ends after Aeroflot, April 4.

Mar-01-15  MarkFinan: Hi Annie.. Sorry, I didn't realise that you were the bookie here! It must have been your predecessor who wasn't speaking to me, lol. And thank you.. April 4th. A month to climb 10 places will be harder than the last few months to reach 19th. My best effort yet though. 🙋

Annie K.: My great predecessors did some great predecessing here, btw. ;)

Good luck!

SwitchingQuylthulg: <Bookie> Didn't Ivanchuk take sole first in the Vladimir Petrov Memorial rapid tournament?
Mar-08-15
Premium Chessgames Member
Chessgames Bookie: According to https://arena.chessdom.com/#/stream... both Ivanchuk and Mamedyarov are on first with 8 points each.
Mar-08-15
Premium Chessgames Member
SwitchingQuylthulg: That site gives Chessgames-style tournament standings, only counting the games they broadcasted :) In addition, they have the wrong result for Ivanchuk's round 1 game, which messes things up even more.

Ivanchuk finished on 9 points, half a point ahead of Karjakin, Gelfand and Rapport; see http://chess-results.com/tnr152848.... for the final standings.

  Chessgames Bookie: Fixed... :)

I'd like to put up a Winner bet for the upcoming Reykjavik Open 2015 (http://chess-results.com/tnr143563....), but registration is still open there, and if a strong player drops in at the last minute, that would really mess things up. Well, at worst, I'll put up an In-Play Winner bet, after a couple of rounds.

Annie K.: There's not much point to posting separate Over/Under bets these days, since I like to use <wordfunph>'s idea of incorporating them into game bets, to break up the most likely result(s). :)

Penguincw: Say, can you put in game by game betting? Even if you don't know the colours for Game 1, you can always do it for Game 2. :)

Annie K.: Possibly I'll put up a few Game 2 bets tomorrow, ok. :)
Mar-24-15  MarkFinan: <<Even if you have an outstanding loan, the Loanshark may decide to increase your credit limit and offer to loan you more chessbucks.

The Loanshark is your guarantee that you can always play the game. No matter how poorly you are doing, you can always go to the loanshark to get some more chessbucks>>

Hi Annie.. I couldn't get a loan out of the bookie today and I paid something like half of what I owed him back yesterday. I wouldn't have paid it back if I'd known there was going to be more wagers available today. Is there any reason why I can't? I just wanted to go for it seeing as the leg ends early next month.

Annie K.: Hi <Mark>! I don't control the Loanshark, he's his own fishie. The lines you quoted refer to what we call "hard luck loans" - when your net worth is negative. When you're in the positives it's not so easy to get a loan out of Sharkie, which is also why you probably shouldn't tie up much of your money in long-term bets like Tournament Winner and what Carlsen's rating will be in two months. ;)

<Switch> explained Sharkie's policies in detail recently, so I'll just copy from him:

<The Loanshark will only offer you a loan if one or both of the following conditions are met:

• You don't have an existing loan, or only have a small existing loan of less than about half your net worth. (Generally, any loan you're offered - whether you already have a loan or not - is calculated so your total loan if you accept will be equal to approximately half your net worth, which we might call your loan cap.)

• You're doing so badly you qualify for a hard luck loan, in which case the loan cap at half your net worth won't apply and loan offers will be based on your credit rating instead. (Though you've been unlucky so far, you won't qualify for a hard luck loan yet; your net worth will have to be below or very close to zero, and your funds should also be close to zero.)

In addition to the above, you can only get one loan per calendar day, unless you've fully paid back your previous loan before requesting the new one.>

Good luck Sneaky. But check this ticket out. My biggest win to date 🙋

Annie.. Thanks for the reply although probably a blessing in disguise anyway. I'm set for my first top 25 finish, but I still think it would have been top 15 if not for those pesky 10 granders, lol.

Annie K.: The closing tournament of the Championship leg, Aeroflot Open 2015: WINNER bet is now up. :)

<Mark> nice job. Consider it good practice, and next time just make sure you're one of those pesky 10 granders yourself! ;)
