| Feb-07-15 | | Beholder: <SwitchingQuylthulg> keeps multiplying chess$ at an alarming rate. It's almost embarrassing for the rest of us. I think <SQ> needs to start with 100 instead of 1000, to level the field a bit. |

 | | Penguincw: Very creative there with the 2 Daily Doubles.
GRENKE Chess Classic Round 6: Daily Double 1
GRENKE Chess Classic Round 6: Daily Double 2
How about for the last round, a P4? I believe it happened once (called a "Superfecta"). To save time, just display the winners. Chessgames Bookie chessforum (kibitz #6017) |

 | | Annie K.: <Penguincw> funny you should mention that - I've just discussed the possibility of automating some of these, once popular but very tedious to set up manually, bet types with Daniel last week (as the Pick Three and Daily Double bets are already automated). It would take some work designing something like that, and it probably won't be very soon, but these bets may make a comeback one of these days. :) |

 | | Annie K.: Okay folks, GRENKE ends today. The Zurich Chess Challenge and the next FIDE Grand Prix tournament both start on the 14th. I haven't seen anything interesting scheduled between now and the 14th, so unless somebody knows about an event and points me to it, we'll have a few days of vacation. I'll probably think of some fun bets to put up meanwhile for Zurich and the GP though, so check back anyway. :) |

 | | Annie K.: Thanks - running this game is fun too!
In anticipation of any questions about the two-winner GRENKE Winner bet, please see a recent example explanation by <chessgames.com>: Chessgames Bookie chessforum (kibitz #7955), as well as the ChessBookie Game Help Page: <8.If there are two or more winning lines in an event (e.g. a tie for first place), all tickets for any winning bet will be paid off. The total "loser pool" (all chessbucks wagered on losing tickets) is split evenly across all winning pools—for example, with a three-way tie the loser pool (after juice) would be split into thirds. Then those smaller pools are distributed to the winners normally. When this happens, the odds payed will be substantially worse than the final posted odds.> Other: I have set the GP Winner bet closing time to 22:00 server time of the 13th for now, because I wanted to put the bet up early so it will have time to accumulate a good pool, but the official site is not yet updated, so we don't have a schedule (let alone pairings) yet. Since we still don't know when exactly Round 1 starts, beyond "the 14th", and Tbilisi time is 9 hours ahead of server time - I prefer to be on the safe side. If the official site is updated in time for us to get the actual schedule more than 24 hours before the current bet closing time, I will adjust the closing time to the exact start of the round. But if that 24-hour mark passes still without a schedule, the current bet closing time will not be adjusted at a later point. Plan your betting strategies accordingly. :) |
|
Feb-10-15
 | | Annie K.: Schedule is up! Bet closing times will be updated.

 | | Sneaky: <GRENKE Chess Classic 2015: WINNER : Arkadij Naiditsch (2694) [cash in ticket] 25 YOU WIN! COLLECT 907 161:1> Why oh why didn't I bet more??? In retrospect those 161:1 odds seem pretty good, don't you think? |

Feb-12-15
 | | Penguincw: I know it's not going to change my betting strategy, but are multi payoffs in effect for Zurich Chess Challenge 2015: WINNER and FIDE Grand Prix Tbilisi 2015: WINNER? Thanks. :) |
|
Feb-12-15
 | | Annie K.: <Sneaky> that's hindsight for ya. ;s <Penguincw> yes, actually, they are always in effect for all WINNER bets - but you're right, I should add that line to the bets. Will do that soon, thanks. :) |
|
Feb-13-15
 | | Penguincw: Oh, and I almost forgot to ask: when is Pay Day? The leg is almost half way over, but there seems to be no announcement of so... |
|
Feb-13-15
 | | Annie K.: Good question - I'll pass it on. :) |
|
| Feb-13-15 | | greed and death: Just to let you know, there are currently two identical "Pick Three" bets for Zurich Rd. 1... |
|
Feb-13-15
 | | Annie K.: Hmm... that's odd, and it's the second time that happens. I'll fix it. |
|
Feb-13-15
 | | Annie K.: Thanks, fixed. :)
BTW, if you see something like that, please don't place bets in both. Just come here and report it - if one of those bets is still "empty", that makes deleting it easier. |
|
Feb-14-15
 | | chessgames.com: <Oh, and I almost forgot to ask: when is Pay Day?> Excellent question. We will schedule Pay Day for this coming Wednesday, February 18th. For those new or who didn't get the memo, that means than an extra 1000 chessbucks will be handed out to everybody. |
|
| Feb-17-15 | | MarkFinan: Ceegee. How come the winners of the previous leg start with 10000 chessbucks this time around?? They don't even have to bet and they'll most probably be top 10 in this leg!? If it wasn't for them I'd probably be top 10 now. |
|
Feb-18-15
 | | Penguincw: Alright! Pay Day has finally come. So glad I don't have to go on welfare... |
|
| Feb-19-15 | | MarkFinan: Can someone please explain to me why we all have to start with 1000 cb's, but the last leg winners start with 10000? And I really don't understand why we're all given an extra 1000 cb's half way through either, it seems pretty pointless to me. |
|
| Feb-22-15 | | WinKing: < MarkFinan: Can someone please explain to me why we all have to start with 1000 cb's, but the last leg winners start with 10000? > Hi <MarkFinan>. I think those that finished in the top ten(or 12 this year I think) during the first three legs legs(spring, summer & fall) start with 10,000 chessbucks for the winter leg. Always been that way as far as I know.
Good incentive if you ask me. Gives you something to shoot for. Some nice prizes if you score high in the winter leg. |
|
| Feb-24-15 | | MarkFinan: Winking.. Thanks for the answer mate. It may give you more incentive, but I still think it's a little unfair. There's a guy who's never ever made a bet this leg and he's 12th in the table. One 1000 cb banker, like an end of tournament guaranteed draw and he's back in the top ten! |

| Feb-25-15 | | Kynas: FIDE Grand Prix Tbilisi Round 9: Jobava - Vachier-Lagrave : Vachier-Lagrave [discard ticket] 100 LOSE 7:2 4.67 -- Feb-25-15 Why? MVL won |
|
Feb-25-15
 | | Chessgames Bookie: Hmm. At the official site http://tbilisi2015.fide.com/compone... I see Vachier-Lagrave has a winning position, but the game is listed as a draw. If that is an error, I will ask <Daniel> to correct the payoffs - let's just wait a little and see what really happened there. |
|
Feb-25-15
 | | Chessgames Bookie: OK, the live games page stays a draw, but http://tbilisi2015.fide.com/en/comp... has just been updated, and confirms that Vachier-Lagrave actually won. We'll have this fixed in a bit! :) |
|
| Feb-25-15 | | WinKing: In the "European Individual Chess Championship 2015" WINNER bet Fedoseev Vladimir (2684) is listed & was bet on by a few members here but *I don't think* he is playing in the EICC. I waited a round to see if his name would show up in the second round but no dice. Not sure if you refund bets in an instance such as this but I thought I'd bring it to the attention of the <Chessgames Bookie>. |
