  Penguincw: < I'm set for my first top 25 finish, but I still think it would have been top 15 if not for those pesky 10 granders, lol.>

Gonna state some obvious statements:

Although it is difficult to calculate where you would be if everyone started with 1K, here's the leaderboard not including the 10K people, updated Wed Mar 25, 05:15:

18. greed and death 7,238
19. moulicules 5,972
22. MarkFinan 5,222 (3rd)
23. salmar 4,660
24. vector 4,183
25. Chessz 4,136
26. MiTaxi 3,604
27. WinKing 3,383
28. abhishikt 3,226
29. SirRuthless 2,989
~~~
30. Captain Hindsight 2,779
31. andrgrimes 2,756
32. syracrophy 2,682
33. Penguincw 2,634 (!?)
Assuming you got the 1K Pay Day, this means you have profitted 3222 cbs this leg. Only 10 users have done better than you (give or take one or two), so you would have been around 11th place, although it's much easier to make money with 10K vs. 1K.
  OhioChessFan: I know I'm lazy, but I continue to be amazed at how many people are spending time trying to beat the 10K's. A 3 month exercise in futility must have some appeal I'm not seeing.
  SwitchingQuylthulg: Why do people play during the other legs, trying to beat the other 1K starters? Statistically, any given player starting with c$1,000 has better chances of winning a prize during the Winter Leg than during, say, the Summer Leg; since there are more prizes available, this shouldn't be too surprising.
Of course, some players really <do> have no chance of catching up with the qualifiers... namely, the ones who never feature anywhere near the top even when everybody starts with c$1,000. I'm sure <MarkFinan> is more competent than them, and there's no reason why he shouldn't keep trying; at this point, one or two big lucky bets could put him in the top 10.
Mar-25-15  Beholder: My personal best was making 17K out of 1K. And that was long before any 'paydays'.
Mar-26-15  technical draw: I started the championship leg with $1,000 and I finished 3rd once. Since then I have been basically a cellar dweller except this year. I'm just hoping for a top 10 finish.
Mariya, Mariya, Mariya, Mariya . . .
All the beautiful sounds of the world in a single word . . . Mariya!!!
Mar-28-15  technical draw: "I just met a girl named Mariya!" (and put 200 bucks on her).
Mar-28-15  Jim Bartle: How do you solve a problem like Mariya?
Thanks for the break down <Penguincw> 11th is still 1 place shy of where I need to be though.
You should be a professional gambler, if there is such a thing. Honestly <switch> I'll take your word for it about the stats because you know a lot more than me, but to me starting with 10k means you have 9k more than everyone else, therefore a better chance of winning.
Even better, looks like you've now profitted 5172 cbs (updated today, 17:51), which is 6th most overall (somewhere there). You've also taken over <greed and death> for top spot among non-qualificants, who has held that spot since at least late January.
Go Mark!
Thanks Pcw. But I still don't win anything, and if I hadn't been battling against the other leg winners I'd be in a comfortable position to finish in the top ten.
