FSR: <centralfiles> I was screwing around, but actually double check as you alluded to would be the more interesting case.

moronovich: <Chessgames Bookie: <moronovich> As noted in the <ANNOUNCEMENTS> section: <The Spring Leg will end in early July, with the top 10 qualifying for the next Championship Leg.>

The exact date will be posted in a week or so; most likely it will be July 5 (end of Dortmund).>

Thanks a lot <Switch> !

Chessgames Bookie: <MarkFinan> Ben's Early Check Special was inspired by <Phony Benoni>'s post here: S Urusov vs Ben, 1862 (kibitz #1)

Who Ben was, I have no idea; perhaps one of our resident chess historians can tell us.

Sneaky: I normally don't give tips to my competitors, but this Topalov-Anand game is pretty straight forward.

Topalov needs a draw with White. He won't be sacrificing the exchange today. He just wants to ice the position and go home.

Anand gets paid nicely for 2nd place. He's not going to maniacally throw away 2nd place in a mad effort to seize first place. This isn't a WCC, there won't be heroics.

Topalov will be playing for a draw and a draw is what he'll get.

That's my analysis. 1500 chessbucks riding on it.

Jun-25-15  centralfiles: Mvl-grishuk is following mvl-aronian from round 1 exactly. Sasha must have found something...

Penguincw: Impressive <Sneaky>. And it turns out, you're right! Topalov-Anand is a draw (in 18 moves). I only had 50 on it, but better than nothing!
Jun-25-15  TITIKIZA: I bet 400 on Topalov winning Norway chess 2015. Got almost 12000 for it. Thank you Topa

Congrats (FTR, my guess on how you made that much money was 7.5K on the draw :p ).

In other news, P3 is 204:1 odds!

I had a good day, gaining 143 cbs.

WannaBe: I like this ELO next to a players name on the betting screen! Will save me time lookin' them up.

Kudos! =)

Jun-25-15  MarkFinan: From 5th to 10th! I think the most cb's I've had is roughly 6300, so a 500 cb drop and I've gone down to 10th. I know my luck, I'll finish 11th only 1 darn chess buck behind 10th! From round 1-4 (of the tournament in Norway) I bet around 500 cb's per round and I was even 2nd at one point, in the later rounds I got braver and gambled around 1500 per round but I didn't anticipate all these Jonny come lately's. I'm just going to go for it in this tournament, all or nothing...

I don't know much about gambling, but if you're ahead/doing well in a contest, you should be playing safe, as there's no reason to be taking many chances. You'll only risk falling.

Unless of course, your strategy to success was to taking big risks. If so, keep doing what you're doing. :)

Jun-25-15  MarkFinan: <Pcw> Even if I'd played it safe and hadn't had one solitary wager I'd have still dropped down to 9th. I'm going to wait for the right time and put all my cb's on those later rounds when you can tell they're all going to be playing for draws. People who haven't been nowhere near the leaderboard are now in a good position to win the thing.

FSR: <ChessBookie> There are some typos and such in your Hall of Fame. <Qualifying> is misspelled throughout as <Qualifiying>. The 2014-15 lists of qualifiers are missing the "and" before the last person, except that there is one "amd" (Fall 2014). There is a period missing after <AnotherBike>.
Jun-26-15  centralfiles: <FSR>Looks like your planning on qualifying and want to make sure its a worthy hall of fame.. .

SwitchingQuylthulg: <FSR> Also, it says <• CHAMPIONSHIP LEG> after most Winter Legs, but not 2009 and 2015 :) And the runners-up from the first two Winter Legs are described only as "runners up", not "qualifiying runners up", although they did qualify for the next Winter Leg just as happened in later years.

FSR: Uh oh. Hambleton found a nice resource -a pseudo-queen sac - which Komodo says equalizes for him. Bad news for those of us who were banking on Chukky to thrash him, and in fewer than 40 moves.

Penguincw: Just when I thought Ivanchuk-Hambleton was an easy bet. :|

Just hoping Ivanchuk can beat Hambleton, in any fashion (hopefully this game doesn't finish before I sleep; don't want to get a bad night's sleep).

Penguincw: R.I.P. 1125 cbs (and my chances of being a qualifiying runner up).

FSR: It gets worse. Shankland's king wandered out to the fifth rank, with the predictable result, against Wang Hao. Looks like that momentary 8th place in the standings will be my zenith.
