Since the longest game (Kramnik-Nepo) was exactly 55 moves, even one missing pair of moves could have changed everything. This is standard procedure in such cases; delaying a payoff is very easy, whereas fixing a mistaken payoff is a complicated process that would inconvenience not only me but also Daniel Freeman and any number of players. I know delaying the payoff also inconveniences some players, but it's the lesser of two evils. http://www.sparkassen-chess-meeting... now indicates that Kramnik-Nepo was indeed 55 moves and Meier-Caruana was 51 moves; that's good enough for me.
