May-22-06  MrMojoRisin: Bah! I am bad at this game!
May-22-06  TIMER: Look at how the favouirites are all tending to odds of 1.1 or 1.2. Never seen the odds so extreme before, hardly worth betting to gain such a small amount! Unless you take out a lottery ticket against a heavy favourite . Even odds of drawn games in the last round never went this low!
May-22-06  JOHNNY YORK: Just went and got a 100 dollar loan from the shark, gonna put it on usa for today. That's $118 on USA at a 1.1 odds.

You gotta be kidding me, but look at the other favorites odds, the highest is 1.3? No way to make any money at all.

May-22-06  percyblakeney: I have 3204 on Russia winning today...
May-22-06  EinZweiDrei: Haha, I can't believe my two 100-chessbuck Topalov-Kamsky tickets put me from zero dollars' net worth to first place. That I was not expecting.
May-22-06  percyblakeney: 1.95 on Romania beating Australia is an extremely good odds, a pity I already had emptied my pockets on Russia...
May-22-06  refutor: why are the bets closed? the round doesn't start till 9am? i tried to place a bet around 8
May-22-06  TrueBlue: Congrats EinZweiDrei, you blew me right out of first place :)
May-22-06  percyblakeney: As it turned out it was lucky that my pockets were empty by then, since Australia won against Romania.

WannaBe: Overwhelming odds on this 37th Chess Olympiad Rd 2: USA vs Morocco bet. 100 chess bucks only gets you 112 back. =(
May-22-06  refutor: <odds were never this low> they were that low for topalov-nisipeanu match
May-22-06  DCP23: ok, when shall we get our winnings? ;)

ChessBookie Game

May-22-06  DutchDunce: <overwhelming> Russia gets you only 107. And I have all but one of my chess rox riding on it.

WannaBe: My ticket still doesn't pay out... :-(
May-22-06  blingice: Wow, I'm in the money. 114 on Russia v. Latvia earned me 8 bucks.
May-22-06  Holden: 114 for Russia this round would earn you 21 bucks (at the moment). Of course, 114 against Russia this round would earn $3969.48.
May-22-06  blingice: In those bets, you have much to risk with a very small amount to gain. I'm going to only worry about the more even matched countries now.
May-23-06  DCP23: My bet of 474 (all I had at the moment) on Russia in R2 earned me 34 chessbucks :)
May-23-06  DutchDunce: Woohoo, 1.03 for Russia! I'm betting the farm, save for that one lucky Chessbuck to buy the car.
May-23-06  percyblakeney: Best odds of the day: 5.67 on draw in Iceland-Vietnam. Iceland are huge favourites in the betting, but the teams are even.

Worst odds of the day: 1.04 on Russia. Germany is much stronger than Latvia and bigger sensations have happened than four draws here.

May-23-06  TIMER: So it took me less than 5 days to recover from outright last with about -3200 back to probably the top ten again with over +7200!

Even I did not expect to comeback this fast!

May-23-06  DCP23: <TIMER> How did you do it?! The 'Loanshark' only gives out 100 per day, doesn't he? How can you make such a profit with such small bets, and I presume you repaid your debt too?!
May-23-06  percyblakeney: Thanks to Uzbekistan I went 1 whole chessbuck plus today, but no luck with my Vietnamese sensation...
May-23-06  TIMER: <DCP23> When I was outright last, I got the pick three right which was at long odds so even with 150 chessbucks bet, you could make thousands. That got me back to -1400. I was not going to pay back the loanshark yet, and with over ten times more to bet I then jumped to +2000. Then to 2700. I had now fully paid back the loanshark.

But my winning streak continued to 3200, and now to 7200+. I could have lost everything again today, but I got most of my predictions right. The one I got wrong I only had 15 on anyway!
