Penguincw: Just when you thought the battle lines have been drawn, a 3rd party has entered the fight. It's now <sydbarrett> and <MarkFinan> vs. <FSR>. (grabs popcorn)

<WinKing: Well <Penguincw> the official site has teamed up with chess24 to carry their games. I would think this is a good sign that the pairings from chess24 are probably accurate. Still I would like to see the official(2015 Sinquefield Cup) site list the pairings. I have no idea what is taking them so long. >

In a big tournament, there are generally about 5 sites to consider: chess-results, 2700chess, chess24, chessdom and the official site. So far, only chess24 and chess-results have been flawless, so as one can imagine, I trust them the most. Trust takes years to earn, and seconds to break.

But yes, I think it's good the official site is teaming up with a reliable site. I don't really mind if the official site releases their pairings or not. They might do it round for round, they might not. Don't worry, chess24 is good enough for me (and there's also your pairings :) ).

Thanks Annie. The cookies are enabled though, but I'll try it on my phones browser instead of Google Chrome.

Aug-23-15  MarkFinan: <sydbarrett: FSR.
I must break you>

<Penguincw: Just when you thought the battle lines have been drawn, a 3rd party has entered the fight. It's now <sydbarrett> and <MarkFinan> vs. <FSR>. (grabs popcorn)>

Me and Syd are skilled Jedi's, Fred's a padawan learner.

Aug-23-15  sydbarrett: Hehe. I like a good challenge. >:)

A lot of my money is tied up in the
long-term bets. I might have to use loanshark. I hope that's safe...

This is my first chessbookie season. By chance I tried a dangerous bet against the odds on Wei Yi (win with black pieces) and I won big. That was when I discovered that I had this talent, this Force. On the Sinquefield, I have basically done an anti-Magnus and anti-Caruana bet. If one of 5 of the 8 remaining players win, I shall reap a great jackpot. That is my masterplan and you cannot stop me

FSR: After Carlsen wins the tournament I'll have more money than you two put together.
Aug-23-15  MarkFinan: <FSR: After Carlsen wins the tournament I'll have more money than you two put together.>

Anyone for a memorable quote?

Lol. I'll be referring back to this post Fred.

Aug-23-15  MarkFinan: Basically.. Fred has about 1000 cb's on Carlsen, it's the only way he can double up on me and #TeamSyd

Penguincw: Alright guys, every bet had over 2000 cbs (except for the Car Wash). So clearly, you guys want more than 6 bets/round. Alright, I'll start working on the next round (not sure what exotics I should use).

Oh, and I'm about to set up a Pick <Four>. It took me a long time to set it up, and it will probably take a long time to collect a good pool, so I'm going to give it as much time as possible for the pool to grow.

BTW: Any games ending pass 6:00 will have a late payoff. Sorry about that (my life is really busy).

FSR: GM Carlsen, Magnus vs GM Topalov, Veselin [0-1]

GM Nakamura, Hikaru vs GM Anand, Viswanathan [1-0]

GM Aronian, Levon vs GM Caruana, Fabiano [1-0]

GM Giri, Anish vs GM Grischuk, Alexander [1-0]

GM So, Wesley vs GM Vachier-Lagrave, Maxime [0-1]

Aug-23-15  MarkFinan: You're about to laugh because I placed ALL my cb's and 1250 from the loanshark on today's games. Net worth =100 cb's 😈
Aug-23-15  sydbarrett: a bloody first round at the Sinque. I like blood >:) Everything turned out nicely... I especially love seeing Magnus lose :D So losing hurts the 1000+ I put in the So-So bet for him to do well, but you cant win them all. I did put in a bit of money on MVL to beat So this round as insurance... I wish I had put a bigger chunk
Aug-23-15  MarkFinan: I lost 3600 + . Gotta Lol.

I'll be back!

Aug-23-15  sydbarrett: Hey look what I just noticed...

Sinquefield Cup Rd 1: Pick Three : Black-White-Black [cash in ticket] 5 YOU WIN! COLLECT 1979 395:1 395.89 1,979 Aug-23-15

:) :) :))

Aug-23-15  sydbarrett: darn it Mark. treat it like a marathon. don't worry. I'll pummel FSR for u
Aug-23-15  sydbarrett: anyone who looks like John Lennon is ok in my book

FSR: When do the standings get updated? I can hardly wait!
Aug-23-15  sydbarrett: I had a freaking amazing day if I may say so... cashed in a few $200-400 checks, a $500, and that $1979 big jackpotto. I don't know how el Jefe Chnebelgrnd did, but I'm actually close to him if he broke even...
Aug-23-15  sydbarrett: And the ones I selected to win the Cup won their games today... Naka and Topalov... And their bigger and more-favored rivals Carlsen and Caruana lost theirs... even if I'm headed for a 1100 loss on the So-So bet, I'm doing just fine #feelin'good
Aug-23-15  sydbarrett: I just noticed that FSR looks a bit like Mark David Chapman... and MarkFinan like John Lennon... :O
Aug-23-15  MarkFinan: Damn you Frederick, damn you. And thank you SydBarrett, very kind of you.. I'm definitely on your team now mine has collapsed in spectacular fashion, lol. Maybe I'll see you in the championship leg because I've already qualified Federico!

Anyway.. Will an ex / current Cellar dweller tell me how things work down there please? Do you still get to borrow 1000's or do you get to borrow a 100 and have to put it all on a 137432-1 longshot?

Sneaky: I put my money on the long shots: Anish Giri, Alexander Grischuk, Levon Aronian, and that loose-cannon Maxime Vachier-Lagrave. 3 out of 4 are now in the lead, and the favorites Carlsen and Caruana and playing catch-up. I can't complain!

FSR: I figured that Carlsen would do better against Topalov this time, what with knowing the time control. No such luck. But I hit all the rest of the games. Alas, I only bet 2 chessbucks on the winning Pick Three, unlike <sydbarrett>, who bet 5. So I "only" gained 1,357 for the day, trailing Syd.
