| Aug-22-15 | | sydbarrett: I have money spread all over in the Sinquefield bet... mostly on 3 specific players... but 0 cash on Carlsen. Magnus is just too overpriced for me to put money on him. Wondering if my strategy is right. Nobody can really say I guess... that's why it's called gambling, right |

 | | Penguincw: Last year, <Switch> accumulated nearly 500,000 cbs worth of bets, so plenty of opportunities for you too to compete. What does "Sic transit gloria" mean though? :p |
Aug-22-15
 | | Annie K.: That's what Ms. Mundi's chauffeur said... ;p |
| Aug-22-15 | | MarkFinan: Fred.. At least I had the cahones to put 1000 cb's on a game. Let's see where I am at the end of the leg.. |
| Aug-22-15 | | MarkFinan: But well done for winning a thousand cb's. I had 750 on Mama and 250 on the draw!? #wounded |
| Aug-22-15 | | MarkFinan: That Mamedryov Ragger game today is absolutely appalling to say it's 2 GM's playing. If someone from this site said it was their game I'd believe them! White dropped a piece, and well.. Look for yourselves, it's a weird game. |
| Aug-22-15 | | MarkFinan: I deleted a post this morning because I finally sorted out the problem, but now it's happening again.. I go to place a bet (on the winner of the Sinqfield tournament) I have the funds, I place the amount, I tick the box, I press the button to place the bet and it says "Error. You must enter an amount" or something very similar. I don't know if anyone else has had the problem but that's twice today it's happened to me. |

 | | Penguincw: Been at the computer for 7 hours now, waiting for the pairings to come out. However, I think they are technically known. But watch when I leave for like 5 minutes, and boom, the pairings are released. BTW: I'd just like to release a disclaimer. Last time at Norway, an initial set of pairings were released, but they were wrong. If that happens again, here's what I'm planning to do: Ex. R1 pairing is "Grischuk-Giri", but it's an error, and it's actually "Grischuk-So". In that case, I will close "Grischuk-Giri" and open up "Grischuk-So". Now if Grischuk ends up facing Giri with <white> later in the tournament, then all bets will stand. However, if Grischuk faces Giri with <black>, all bets will be refunded. Hopefully I don't have to worry about this. |

 | | FSR: <Penguincw: ... What does "Sic transit gloria" mean though? :p > I think it means that glory (and, more generally, all earthly things) are fleeting. |
Aug-22-15
 | | Annie K.: <FSR> that's a bit of a modernism, though. :) The original expression was 'sic transit gloria mundi', meaning all <earthly> glory is fleeting. It was a religious reminder. However, I generally prefer to translate it as 'I'm sick of driving Gloria around'. ;p |

Aug-22-15
 | | Penguincw: Alright, bets for the Sinquefield Cup, Round 1 are out. The pairings look to be stable, so good. :) I'm going to start out with just 5 game bets and a Pick Three. I'll add exotics later on, but will have to see how many exotics is ideal. Oh, and on a side note, I've been dealing with increased time demands with work, so I won't have as much time as I'd like. Thanks for your patience, and sorry for any inconvenience. |

 | | Penguincw: < Hopefully they are accurate. > I agree. Currently it looks like everything matches, but I will remain on-duty just in case the sites make some change. |
| Aug-22-15 | | WinKing: Yes let's keep an eye on it <Penguincw>.
The official site for Sinquefield is really slow in posting the pairings. |
Aug-22-15
 | | FSR: A wager on Nakamura's opening move at some point seems to be a sensible "exotic." Repertoire Explorer: Hikaru Nakamura (white) |
Aug-22-15
 | | Penguincw: I agree <FSR>. I'm going to keep my word and not put it out for R1 (even though there's plenty of time), but look for it soon (probably R3). |
| Aug-22-15 | | sydbarrett: FSR.
I must break you. |
Aug-22-15
 | | FSR: Oh no. Now I've got two people gunning for me. What have I done to deserve this? |
| Aug-22-15 | | WinKing: Well <Penguincw> the official site has teamed up with chess24 to carry their games. I would think this is a good sign that the pairings from chess24 are probably accurate. Still I would like to see the official(2015 Sinquefield Cup) site list the pairings. I have no idea what is taking them so long. http://grandchesstour.com/2015-sinq... |
