 | | Penguincw: < MarkFinan: Pengerz.. Can we have that World Cup Rd 2: Compatriot Battle kinda wager again in the next round please, mate? 15k got put on that bet, so obviously it brings in the punters. > Yes, I see. However, I think it only does bring bettors because you have a good chance of winning <some> money, even if it's very little. There can be a maximum of 3 compatriot battles in the next round. They are: Areschenko-Yovk (unlikely), Karjakin-Lysyj (possible), Andreikin-Kramnik (likely). Actually I take that back on the "winning <some> money" part. The double and triple draw no-bets, along with one "Select All That Apply" basically did the same thing, but they weren't as popular. |

Sep-15-15
 | | FSR: Upsets: Sethuraman beats Harikrishna 1.5-.5; Lu Shanglei completes his sweep of Wang Hao. Vovk won the second game against Wei Yi to force a tiebreaker, thus furnishing a "NO" answer to the question of whether Wei Yi and two others would advance without needing a tiebreaker. |
|
Sep-15-15
 | | FSR: By my count, exactly 15 matches (yes!) go to tiebreaks: 1. Nakamura-Shankland
2. Giri-Motylev
3. Grischuk-Fedoseev
4. Bassem-Jakovenko
5. Onischuk-Karjakin
6. Tomashevsky-Nguyen
7. Laznicka-Adams
8. Nisipeanu-Svidler
9. Radjabov-Smirin
10. Fressinet-Nepo
11. Hou Yifan-Mamedyarov
12. Wei Yi-Vovk
13. Aronian-Areschenko
14. Vitiugov-Le Quang Liem
15. Lysyj-Yu Yangyi |

 | | FSR: Looks like White-White-Draw pays. Yes!!! |
|
| Sep-15-15 | | MarkFinan: Irrelevant Frederick. After tomorrow I will be back in position, I have 1 tenth of the total amount on Pengerz's "popular bet" which means I'll be back top ten tomorrow.. You watch. I'm after your spot in the championship leg Fred, fail I will not. |

| Sep-15-15 | | MarkFinan: See where I am in 24 hours, you will Frederick. |
|
| Sep-15-15 | | MarkFinan: I see the bookies in the bathroom again. C'mon Pengerz pay up, I need my money for tomorrow.... For when I overtake Frederick, lol. You don't understand, I'll bet anyone a premium membership I have 5k plus anyway.. But when I win the bet they have to agree with every argument I get into for a year? And post frequently about it? Any takers? Lol. I'm gonna be winning like Charlie Sheen. |

| Sep-16-15 | | wordfunph: <World Cup Rd 2: Compatriot Battle : Sethuraman [info] 290 LIVE BET 25:1 25.77 7,473 Sep-16-15> <World Cup Rd 2: Compatriot Battle : Lu Shanglei [info] 290 LIVE BET 22:1 22.98 6,664 Sep-16-15> go, Shankland/Fedoseev! |
|
Sep-16-15
 | | FSR: <wordfunph> I didn't bet on the Grischuk-Fedoseev contest, but like you I bet on Sethuraman, Lu Shanglei, and Shankland. Go Shankland! |
|
Sep-16-15
 | | FSR: Bummer. Shankland lost the first tiebreak game. |

 | | FSR: <Sep-15-15 MarkFinan: See where I am in 24 hours, you will Frederick.> OK.

|
| Sep-16-15 | | MarkFinan: Is the day over yet Frederick? Exactly. By close of business tonight I'll have more cb's than you. |
|
| Sep-16-15 | | MarkFinan: What time are these games scheduled to finish? I don't understand the format whatsoever. |
|
| Sep-16-15 | | MarkFinan: And how come <more> games were refunded yesterday?? |
|
| Sep-16-15 | | MarkFinan: Adams just won that means all today's games have finished. Can we have a quick payout so I can humiliate Frederick? I need to see my name above his, these padawans are weak with the force. |
|
| Sep-16-15 | | MarkFinan: And don't think I haven't noticed that now you have 8k and think you're safe, you've only been putting baby bets on, Frederico. On the last day of the last leg I put ALL my cb's on and qualified.. Does Fred have the cahones to do the same? |
|
| Sep-16-15 | | MarkFinan: C'mon The Bookie Wookie? Let's see Fred's face drop like he's had a stroke. |

 | | FSR: The word is "cojones," Mark. And thus far your cojones have brought you from $2,000 to negative $848. But I'm waiting with bated breath to see your imminent jump in the standings. |
|
| Sep-16-15 | | MarkFinan: Bookie, are we paying out today? |
|
| Sep-16-15 | | MarkFinan: What happened to 4 winners in the "compratiot battles?". I wouldn't have put ALL MY MONEY on 4 different players if there was only 1 winner, this is ridiculous. I guess I aren't gonna be the only confused bettor either. |
|
| Sep-16-15 | | MarkFinan: I meant... What happened to the odds?? All my winning tickets (6 BTW) totalled more than 1500 cb's per win.. I've lost a 1000! I'm confused! |
|
Sep-16-15
 | | Chessgames Bookie: <MarkFinan: ... compratiot battles ... > Look at the bet: <Note: This bet will have 4 winners, so prepare for multi-payoffs.> In a multi-payoffs situation, the losing pool will be split into many separate pools (here, 4, since there are 4 different winners). If you do the math, the losing pool is 6923 cbs (actually 6576 due to juice). Divide 6576 into 4 parts, and it's 1644 cbs/winning line. These <should> be the odds for each winning line: - Lu Shanglei: 3.55
- Sethuraman: 3.86
- Grischuk: 1.51
- Nakamura: 1.39
