Penguincw: < Mark: I'd much prefer the leg end on October the 4th. >

Unfortunately, the World Cup might end on October 5th, meaning the leg won't end on October 4th.

Now assuming the World Cup requires tiebreaks. I'm not going to make you guys wait a day just to see whether or not to see if your 3+ week old long term bet will pay or not. I'm going to put some more bets.

But I have to ask: has there ever been a leg where the final date was uncertain (like here)?

Good, thanks for the prompt reply :)

<But I have to ask: has there ever been a leg where the final date was uncertain (like here)?>

There was Fall 2010, which ended with the FIDE Women's World Championship knock-out tournament. The two players slugging it out for the top spot that leg were... me and <Chnebelgrind>, and neither of us knew whether the Bookie would open a new bet in case the final went to tiebreaks.

Me wrongly assuming that he <would> open a new bet (he didn't) was the critical mistake that handed the leg to <Chnebelgrind>, which is why I wanted to know the answer well in advance this time around :-)

FSR: chessdom displays MVL-So as ending 0-1, while chess24 has 1/2-1/2, which seems much more likely given the final position.
Sep-20-15  MarkFinan: He lost so another day spent in the cellar. Some of these games are ridiculous, I thought at the business end of a tournament they'd play to win not 11 move draws. This should be outlawed although I don't know how you can implicate it.

Funny how yesterday I mentioned < "I could always do something like chessdom, but they nearly screwed me over this leg, and I'm not about to take that risk again." > and here they are, nearly catching me again. Luckily, I rely on chess24, which aside from evals, has never made a mistake. :)

Always have 2 or even 3 sites available to check if possible. I don't really trust any one of them fully with the results. They often get the game scores & moves wrong. You see it all the time. How many times have they had the pairings wrong? How hard can this be really? I attribute it to blatant carelessness...ya think I'm being a little hard on them...naaaaa!

Good point, can't deny it. Earlier in the leg, I used to check with 3 sites or so, but now I only use chess24...

Despite all that, the only payoff error I made this leg was due to an error by <me> (i.e. the chess24 site got the results right, but I didn't select the right line to payoff). *double facepalm*

Penguincw: (probably should've made it into one post)

In case anyone's wondering why there's only one bet open for R4,G2:

I wanted the Pick Four to be the highlight of this round, but I don't think it can hurt to add some more bets. But I wasn't sure which one. Should I include the 4 most popular bets (which are already involved in the P4), or the 4 least popular bets (which may or may not generate a lot of money).

So, I'm going to randomly select 4 games to use as bets. :)

Sep-20-15  sydbarrett: Put in as many bets as you want. I will win them all
Sep-21-15  sydbarrett: I only spent 1 minute on pick four this time. Considering how big the jackpot is, I might regret it.
Sep-21-15  MarkFinan: If Yi wins or draws this I'M BACK. Frederick.. When are you going to put more than 50 cb's on a round of betting? It's you I plan on edging out. Lol.

FSR: Chessdom strikes again. It has So-MVL as 1/2-1/2, while chess24 has 0-1 (which appears to be correct).
Sep-21-15  MarkFinan: Let's wait and see Princess. I win 3.5k if Yi wins and 2k if he draws. That's not including all my other winning wagers, in fact I have Yi losing covered too. Keep your eyes on the leaderbord.
Sep-21-15  MarkFinan: <Four : White-Black-Draw-Draw [info] 15 LIVE BET 221:1 221.72 3,325 Sep-21-15>

FSR: If only I had also bet 15 on White-Black-Draw-Draw! Oh wait, I did.
Sep-21-15  MarkFinan: Stop telling Goldsbies, Frederick.

FSR: It's no Goldsby, Mark. I also bet 150 on MVL to beat So, which he did.

FSR: chessdom, true to form, has Wei Yi-Ding Liren as a draw, while chess24 has 1-0 - which is surely correct, since White is winning Black's rook in the final position.

Sep-21-15  MarkFinan: Then overtake Syd you shall, lol. I can't believe you had 150 on MVL at 11s though, I put 30 on him and a few hundred on Yi. I just bet on the others being drawn sooooooo...I'm okay too. The force is getting too strong with you Federico.

Or did I bet on Yi. Gonna need to check that out. And you had 10 on the P4. Really stuck your neck out there.

Sep-21-15  MarkFinan: I've got around 3k on live bets and I aren't very confident about them now. Anyway.. Pengerz? Let's get these tickets paid off. It's not impossible for me to place top 20 anymore.

FSR: I had 15 on the winning P4, Mark. Learn to read. The total pool was 39, of which I had 15.
Sep-21-15  sydbarrett: I like Fred... he amuses me, like a clown. But I won't let him overtake me. I too bet on MVL (45). I also bet on MVL in another way; I put my biggest chip on Round 4 for the So-So bet.
Sep-21-15  sydbarrett: If I had waken up earlier in the morning, I would likely have spent a bit more time betting and have taken a piece of that Pick Four pie as well.
