Sep-27-15  sydbarrett: hahaha you wish. Tis but a draw. I may have 9000 bucks, but I had to borrow from the shark to bet to my heart's content for today's bets. I bet my house and my dog too
Sep-27-15  MarkFinan: Good luck Syd-B. And why are you rooting for the wrong guy Fred? I'll see you in the championship leg buddy boy.
Sep-27-15  sydbarrett: I think I just eclipsed you Freddy... Wanna bet some money on it?
Sep-27-15  sydbarrett: Nevermind... the board has been updated already. Can't bet anymore on it. Unless you still want to.
Sep-27-15  sydbarrett: Karjakin gets the white pieces tomorrow. I like his chances on reaching the finals. If old devotchka Svidler gets in, Krazy Karjakin will thrash him and proclaim a new era in Soviet chess. And I will collect my 9000
Sep-27-15  MarkFinan: If Svidler and Karjakin reach the final and then Svidler wins, I'll have a few grand too. I aren't taking someone's place in the top 10 though, there needs to be more bets for me to qualify.
Sep-27-15  sydbarrett: I will bet on almost anything... the number of moves in a game... even the color of Karjakin's shoes in game 2
Sep-27-15  MarkFinan: Me too Syd. Toilet breaks, head nodding, coughing, you name it and I'll bet on it, lol.
Sep-27-15  greed and death: Are there going to be bets on the Poikovsky Karpov Tournament, so we'll have something other than the World Cup finals to bet on to close out the leg?

Uh, I may include a bet or two on that tournament, but it seems like the World Cup bets are really popular now. I believe just one day, there were 3 20K+ bets.

I believe it's already decided that the leg will end on the same day as the World Cup. Once that finals match is over, this leg is done. The World Cup is a major tournament, and I want this leg to end with a major tournament, even if the end date is unknown.

But like mentioned, if the finals goes into Game 4 or tiebreaks, I will have bets on those.

Sorry.

Sep-27-15  Beholder: <sydbarrett: old devotchka Svidler>

What's that supposed to mean?

Sep-27-15  sydbarrett: I sometimes put words together to say something new but I can't always explain what they mean
Sep-27-15  sydbarrett: Giri's gotta fight and win for a chance to participate in the ultimate galactic battle. Why in the world would he let the game become a short draw? What kind of bet is that?? :O

Maybe he sees beating Svidler with black be too big of a task and won't even try.

But if you strongly believe it won't be a short draw, smack your max on "NO" (or do whatever you want).

Sep-27-15  sydbarrett: Okay!
Sep-27-15  MarkFinan: Surely I can get 10 to 1 on AJ Goldstein making an instructional video on the final? C'mon Pengerz, throw a firework in there, really mix it up, lol.

FSR: So far there's 1050 on "NO" (not a short draw) and 0 on "YES."

What, who's that?

< C'mon Pengerz, throw a firework in there, really mix it up, lol. >

I've been throwing exotics all season, but they seem to not be popular. But maybe they are now, since it's the end of the season now.

< FSR: So far there's 1050 on "NO" (not a short draw) and 0 on "YES." >

Let's hope someone will place at least 5 cbs on "YES", otherwise, all the bets placed on "NO" will (basically) be refunded, since there's no losing pool, everyone will get their money back.

But you know, I'll intentionally (and unintentionally) add no-brainer bets, that may or may not contain the expected result...

FSR: Svidler-Giri looks pretty sterile. I wouldn't be surprised if Giri gives up the ghost without making it to move 31 (no!!).

Sep-28-15  Beholder: <FSR: 31.Bd4! They made it!>

I'm in the same boat here, except my stake is even higher. For a moment there, I was afraid Giri offered a draw with 30...f6, that was a very scary few minutes, but fortunately it was not the case.

Now there's another hazard however: Svidler may actually win this...
