Oh wait, tomorrow <is> a Rest Day.

In that case, putting up bets early with placeholder was unnecessary...

FTR: I imagined to get internet access, and paid off one bet. I will now go payoff the rest, along with setting up the next bets. Also, appointment's cancelled...

The official website does show Svidler with White in G1, so you can probably go with it. If it's wrong, blame the official website, not me :)

(It should be a new, completely random pick that only follows the pattern from rounds 1 to 6 by chance.)

Sep-29-15  sydbarrett: I'm supposed to go one day without anything chess-related to bet on? I'll get bored

Penguincw: Oh shoot, I forgot to decide what to put up for the Rest Day (I didn't even know there was a Rest Day).

Anyway, I think someone suggested the Poilkovsky tournament, so I randomly chose 1 game for the spotlight.

I should probably put up the other World Cup bets while I'm at it...

Sep-30-15  MarkFinan: Pengerz.. You may or may not have noticed that I've valiantly fought back from a record low of -2100 to 450.. I need some big bets for a late late run, think outside the box, can we have plenty of 1st, 2nd, 3rd move kinda bets please, as many as possible so I can finish with a bang. I also picked both Svidler and Karjakin to be in the final, I'm just warming up. Lol.

No, I haven't. In fact, the only stat I've noticed is how many participants, and how many cbs 10th place has.

< I need some big bets for a late late run, think outside the box >

Sorry, I gotta run though. Hopefully I'll place those bets when I get home.

But seriously, I feel like everytime I blink, 1 hour has passed...

Sep-30-15  sydbarrett: Do I need to give a speech when I win the leg? I hope not. So in advance--- Thank you all for crowning me as your new emperor! Enjoy my 1000-year reign.
Sep-30-15  MarkFinan: Sorry <🐧🐧🐧> I know you're busy.. I do need to know that there will be the same kinda bets on each of these Final games though? Just saw Fred's cb amount, I did. LOL. Still confident you'll join the winners circle Frederico?? 😂 😂 😂

Wow. I swear <Chnebelgrind> just pulled out to a 5000+ chesssbucks lead, but has since been pulled back to the pack. <Switch> and <Robin> separated by 27 cbs!

< Mark: ... I know you're busy.. I do need to know that there will be the same kinda bets on each of these Final games though? >

Each game, I'll probably include the game bet and maybe ~3 exotics. These could include # of moves, opening, live bets, and maybe other exotics (e.g. "king of the hill", "3 check", etc.).

If this match goes into tiebreaks, I will have just 1 bet: winner of the tiebreaks.

I don't want to include too many for G1 (or perhaps any), since the other R7 bets are open as well.

  Penguincw: Not good.

World Cup R7: Pick Three

Unforunately, I didn't give it enough time to match it with the other large sized bets.

Too bad it's going to be the last P3 of the leg.

SwitchingQuylthulg: <Penguincw> Not your fault that Chessgames went down again; there would surely have been a much larger pool otherwise.

Mind you, with so much money tied up in other bets it likely wouldn't have been a huge pool no matter what; people only have so many chessbucks.

Oct-01-15  WinKing: I disagree <Switch>. I think there would have been quite a bit more laid down on the pick 3. The site was down since 3:30am est. I know I was on <chessgames> when it went down. A lot can happen in 2.5 hours. Especially with the contest winding down.
Oct-01-15  MarkFinan: <Too bad it's going to be the last P3 of the leg.>

I set an alarm to remind me and for the 9th/10th time this leg I couldn't even login for a good few hours to put a bet on. I can't even be arsed complaining about it because when I originally told them that I was having to wait hours before I could login, they said it was my connection! Absolutely ridiculous, I could have made a late fightback.

That's what I said: there would surely have been a much larger pool without the downtime. No disagreement - unless you think we'd have got a c$10K pool.

Oct-01-15  WinKing: <SwitchingQuylthulg:...unless you think we'd have got a c$10K pool.>

I think it would have ended up more than that.

SwitchingQuylthulg: <WinKing> Nope. c$5K max, more likely something in the c$2K-c$4K range.

Reason one, three-day pick threes have never been nearly as popular as one-day pick threes are. Reason two, all the big players have their money tied up in other bets. I currently have all of c$6 available; going by how many players dumped tons of money on either Svidler or Karjakin, I'm not the only one in that situation.

The Pick Three was open for 10 hours before the downtime, and in that time we got a c$770 pool. For a big pool you need big early bets as a stimulus, and if someone had wanted to bet big on the Pick Three they'd probably have done so well before the downtime. There just wasn't that much interest in it; if it had been a single-round pick three the situation would have been completely different.

Oct-01-15  MarkFinan: < if someone had wanted to bet big on the Pick Three they'd probably have done so well before the downtime>

Wrong. I <had> to bet big on the P3 today but I wanted to wait and see what odds I could get. I was planning to put 2000 on (I have 6000 in funds) but because chessgames was down for the 100th time I couldn't. I just couldn't believe that today of all days they'd say nothing, this has been going on for months.

For a second there, I wondered what you were doing up at 3:30 am, but then I realized you're probably in a different time zone. :p

< Mark: ... I can't even be arsed complaining about it because when I originally told them that I was having to wait hours before I could login, they said it was my connection! >

Who told you it was your connection? Next time the site is down, just enter http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/che....

< Switch: ... I currently have all of c$6 available >

Wow, everyone's going all in. I imagine it sucks that one puts all their money on one thing, only for another bet to appear last minute.

I think what I should do is after putting up all the round's bets, I should make an announcement (such as on the World Cup page) saying that all bets are now up. I've been doing that, and it's been attracting a lot of interest.

< For a big pool you need big early bets as a stimulus, and if someone had wanted to bet big on the Pick Three they'd probably have done so well before the downtime. >

Hmm, a thought came to my mind. What I should try is to put out all the smaller, less interesting bets first, and then put out the game bet. Today, I put out the game bet, and in about 9 hours, 12K+ cbs on it.

< moronovich: It is not too late for setting up a <running double> or two !. >

True, I <might> consider doing so.

< FSR: For "Select All That Apply" there is no bet that encompasses the possibility that none of the first four games will be drawn. >

Oh shoot, true. I think the best thing to do is that if all games are decisive, all bets refunded. I'll go ahead and add that to the text.

Oct-01-15  pitapino: This 'LIVE' bet is pretty ridiculous and also not fair. Not everyone can watch to see if they can recoup something from what may have been a poor betting choice the night before. This bet should be permanently retired.
