 | | Penguincw: < Dr. Overlord: Hello guys! I was wondering: I know that Penguincw is the bookie, but who is the loanshark? > The loanshark, I don't know. :) He's basically controlled by the <cg> software. I have no power over him. |
| Oct-03-15 | | Dr. Overlord: Thanx <Penguincw>. I thought that maybe <Kingscrusher> was the loanshark: http://en.chessbase.com/Portals/4/f... He looks a bit like him, hehehe. |
| Oct-03-15 | | sydbarrett: One of my secrets is taunting silly people like Fred until they make big bad bold bets in frustrated anger. :D I kept boasting about my secret weapon, Killer Karjakin, until Fred got annoyed and bet $3200 against the legendary Karjakin, who is in his prime. That was the punishing blow that sunk him. Self-inflicted wound, hehe. |
| Oct-03-15 | | Dr. Overlord: <sydbarrett> Psychological warfare, huh? I like it. But <FSR> is a great guy too. I like you both. And an entertaining duel you two boys have had this leg, cheers. |
| Oct-03-15 | | sydbarrett: Ty, Herr Doktor.
Everyone will be setting their homing missiles to target me, so I will be trying my best to play defense and knock all the missiles down. My chances are quite good. If I do complete this victory, I dedicate it to all the people at Yahoo Chess, which ended last year. Syd Barrets has Crazy Diamonds |
| Oct-03-15 | | Dr. Overlord: "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", hehehe. |

 | | Penguincw: Say guys, has there been an underpromotion yet? :p |
Oct-03-15
 | | FSR: I sure hope not. |
| Oct-04-15 | | MarkFinan: Lol. Fred must have a good few cb's on the under promotion bet. Worried, he appears. 🐸 Well done Syd-B. Leg winner (surely now) and a great battle with Frederick. I felt bad seeing my name in 10th position yesterday, I would have hated coming along and taking <refutor>'s place in the winners circle (!?) but I <really> wanted yesterday to be the last day. I'm now purposely trying to place bottom, no doubt "ahead of" Wally TR, I haven't checked the loserboard yet, lol. I did have a few cb's saved up though so they've all gone on the most "unlikely" looking results. And am I the only person who noticed <pitapino> was basically complaining because he's bad at cheating?? LOL. His handle wasn't even created until August yet he says he's won a previous leg!? If that's true then why am I the only one asking questions about it? Anyway.. I've enjoyed this leg more than the leg when I qualified. Everybody has given (and taken) a bit of banter, and nobody's cracked. Funniest thing ever reading Fred accusing Syd-B of plagiarising Yoda, he even threw up a link bless him. 😂😂😂 |
| Oct-04-15 | | sydbarrett: Good morning. I woke up early by accident. I'll probably sleep again at noon. Looks like the others bet on a Svidler/black win as I suspected they would. Perhaps because I hinted I'm a Karjakin backer, and also I would benefit from a draw. Well at least black isn't going to win, but I was paranoid enough to bet 2300 on black "just in case." |

 | | chessgames.com: Penguin:
<I see that no one has placed chessbucks on the winning line (I believe this is a first in ChessBookie history). So my idea was to pay off 2 out of 3 lines (but haven't done so yet). What would be the procedure in this case?> You're absolutely correct, all tickets with two out of three should be paid. This is normal parimutuel procedure. It usually means a ton of people will win not much money. |
| Oct-04-15 | | sydbarrett: I bet defensively, meaning I tried to bet so that I would likely win whether white/black/draw was the result. Someone bet a lot on black near the end and cheapened the jackpots from it, and I wouldn't chase beyond 2300. I don't even know for certain what I'm rooting for. I guess white or draw. I didn't bet anything on white, but if white wins, I'm hoping that my Karjakin cup win bet would help me there.
I didn't have a good poker face, and I probably influenced betting by mentioning persistently my Karjakin chip. May have made things more difficult for me than they needed to be because of it; I don't know. ;-) |
| Oct-04-15 | | sydbarrett: You were doing okay until yesterday Mark. Tis no shame in it. This leg is almost over. |
| Oct-04-15 | | sydbarrett: All right, I'm going to try to watch the game as a chess fan now, and not as a bettor. |
| Oct-04-15 | | sydbarrett: On a final note, Fred is fun to "chat" with haha, but Quahog and Tacobellgrande were the ones whom I felt I was trying to beat the most. They would sometimes grab the lead overnight on mind-boggling $5000-$10,000 gains. I think I may have outlasted them at this moment, when it counts the most... |
Oct-04-15
 | | FSR: White got in the first check with 13.Nd6+. Alas, I was betting on "NONE." |
| Oct-04-15 | | sydbarrett: I wonder what others would have done in my position, or what I would do in the future if put in the same position. I mean, what if the $2300 I put on black as defense and subsequently lost actually hurt me and made me lose the leg? We shall see. I also put something on draw, but I won't reveal how much. Doesn't seem smart to give away all my strats. |
| Oct-04-15 | | sydbarrett: I put $447 on Karjakin(white) to fire first. I think the reasons are obvious. |
Oct-04-15
 | | Penguincw: A couple of updates:
Firstly, I hear there has been no underpromotion so far. If I'm wrong, please correct me immediately (look at me, putting up bets I don't even know how to payoff). Also, thanks <cg>, I'll go ahead and payoff the P3. My apologizes for those who have to wait an extra day. Lastly, I'm going to go ahead and put up a bet asking for who the tiebreak winner will be. That will be the <only> bet for tomorrow, so go all in. However, if the match doesn't go into tiebreaks, all bets will be refunded. |
| Oct-04-15 | | sydbarrett: Jesus. Karjakin might win. I think i wanted the game to end today and have everyone show their cards. I did not bet on Karjakin to win this round... I did not have enough faith in Killer Karjakin 100%... and now he's hunting for me... |

 | | Penguincw: < FSR: White got in the first check with 13.Nd6+. Alas, I was betting on "NONE." > Karjakin delivered the first check, but Svidler was the first to deliver 3 checks (I should've put out that bet today). < sydbarrett: Jesus. Karjakin might win. I think i wanted the game to end today and have everyone show their cards. I did not bet on Karjakin to win this round... I did not have enough faith in Killer Karjakin 100%... and now he's hunting for me... > Hey, I didn't have any faith in Karjakin winning today either. ;) |
| Oct-04-15 | | sydbarrett: Can you settle the bets and update the leaderboard asap, amigo? (Nice running the game so far, by the way.) Gotta plan for one more day of betting... |
Oct-04-15
 | | FSR: Is <anyone> going to bet on Svidler winning the tiebreaks after the last two debacles? Ugh. |
Oct-04-15
 | | Penguincw: < sydbarrett: Can you settle the bets and update the leaderboard asap, amigo? (Nice running the game so far, by the way.) Gotta plan for one more day of betting... > Done. It should catch the 12:45 deadline, which is 2 hours from now. I've even paid off that P3, but with worse odds. :) It seems though that I rather payoff bets within seconds of conclusion or hours. :| |
| Oct-04-15 | | sydbarrett: Thanks.
My heart said bet Karjakin. Caution said bet for all outcomes. The lesson is follow your heart... Don't sell out... |
