Annie K.: Yeah, watch out folks, the LCC schedule is very uneven:

Round 1 4 Dec, 16.00
Round 2 5 Dec, 14.00
Round 3 6 Dec, 14.00
Round 4 7 Dec, 16.00
Round 5 8 Dec, 16.00
Round 6 10 Dec, 16.00
Round 7 11 Dec, 16.00
Round 8 12 Dec, 14.00
Round 9 13 Dec, 14.00

Penguincw: Or to put it simpler, 14.00 on weekends (Saturday and Sunday), 16.00 on weekdays.
Dec-07-15  wallytherhino: LCC unfortunately has the same dilemma many high ranked tournaments have, it is a draw fest.

In each round with an exception of one so far there has been 1 decided game.

My theory:
1. Strong players know how to make their ranking strong (climbing the rankings) 2. Strong GMs know fall away from aggressive lines because the risk reward is gone. When you are ranked 100 ELO points behind your opponent a loss is not the end of the world. When you are ranked 20 points a win/loss is huge. 3. Most GMs are melded to a small subset of the strongest lines of play (with exception to Alexander Morozevich, Nispineau, Vassily Ivanchuk others in chess today).

Dec-07-15  parisattack: I think your theory is sound <wallytherhino>. I would add (sort of a corollary of 3 or a summary of all your points) that the top players today are risk-adverse. I believe the engines to some extent are responsible.

  Annie K.: I think it's all down to Carlsen's form. :)

Some of the most exciting fighting tournaments in recent years were the ones that Carlsen played in - because he's usually a fighter, and with him in the competition, all the other players knew they couldn't just mostly agree on quick draws and hope for any chance for the top spot with that strategy.

Now that Carlsen seems out of his usual form, at least for the moment, it becomes obvious that when they can, most of the others are still as happy to settle for draws as ever. ;s

But to give them credit, most of these draws were arrived at after at least a decent try (as all these 41-moves-or-over payoffs show!), so it wouldn't be fair at all to class them the same as the under-20-moves GM drawfests we used to see.

Oh, right, <Bookie news>:

Since the issue that makes the Bookie's manual Leaderboard update work only on the actual Leaderboard on the main page, and not the full standings page, hasn't been resolved yet, we will have 4 daily automatic updates for now: 4:15, 12:15, 16:15, and 20:15.

On top of that, manual Leaderboard updates (with effectiveness currently limited to main page short list + net worth shown in user profiles) are now allowed as often as we like, because Daniel put in the time to set up a much less resource-intensive script for it - and the best part is, that they will still be allowed as often as we like, after the problem that prevents them from updating the full standings page is fixed. :)

Chessgames Bookie: <Penguin> nope. :p I'm waiting to see when Hastings is going to be this year, before we decide - it should traditionally be sometime in early January, but I haven't seen anything published about it yet. There will also be a possibly interesting Keres Memorial a few days before Tata - I'm thinking to give that to <WinKing>, our next Bookie, for practice, but I want to know more about the Hastings dates first. Plus <WinKing>'s own preferences matter too. :)

<Forrest Gimp> those two are the two players with the shortest draw record in this tournament. There's a reason for the breakup numbers. ;)

Annie K.: Hmm, update: a new check just found the Hastings schedule already up. http://www.hastingschess.com/schedu...

So it runs Dec 28 to Jan 5. Since I started the leg around Oct 7, I'd be inclined to include Hastings in this leg, rather than stick our brand new Bookie with an extra-long Championship shift. ;s

<WinKing>, what do you say? The Keres Memorial runs 7-10th January 2016, you could practice on that, and then start the Championship Leg a few days before Tata? :)

Dec-12-15  Forrest Gimp: <Bookie> Yeah, I figured out what was going on before the hour was up. Thank goodness for that hour :)
Dec-12-15  Forrest Gimp: On a separate note, I think the bookie forum has just been Harpo Marx'd by <wordfunph> lol :)

LOL 😂😂😂

And I'm having 100 cb's a day taken off for my loans, but thats the beauty of chessgames chessbookie game.. Just borrow, borrow and borrow! Now I have thousands in funds and unless I mess up badly, I should win this round. Unlucky Syd-B, Frederick and Pengerz.

Lol X

Ok so you say I start with the Keres Memorial which runs from the 7-10th January. Sounds good just keep me informed <Annie K.>.

Annie K.: Good work, <Mark>! And everybody else who made good use of the LCC activity. :)

<WinKing> well, the Keres Memorial would only be the preseason - your chance to practice, and get to know the system, before the Championship Leg begins in earnest with Tata Steel (the real leg should probably start by the 14th at the latest, to give a Tata Winner bet some time to pick up a decent pool).

So... this leg will most likely end on Jan 5, but I'll consult with Daniel first, and he may want to start your preseason a bit later than the 7th - he likes to leave up the final Leaderboard and standings for a few days, so everybody gets to see them.

I'll post the official schedule when I hear back from him. :)

Penguincw: < Mark: ... Unlucky Syd-B, Frederick and Pengerz. >

Well, <FSR> is up to 9th, and in line to qualify. Me, I'm starting to slowly increase again as of late, but it may not be enough.

<syd>, he basically shed a "1" on his net worth, but I imagine he's going to bounce back.

Just two of my smaller tickets from the LCC P3's. Pengerz.. People often ask me, "Are you the GREATEST!!! chessbookie player ever?", and I have no real answer for them. All I can say is I'm pretty good, sign the odd AUTOGRAPH!!!! and keep it moving. I've paid 7k of my loan back. Not because I had to, in fact the loansharks a fan of mine and offered me limitless credit on the never never, but because I'm a good guy and donate REAL!!! cb's to charity.

Dec-14-15  Forrest Gimp: Very sad day for the leaderboard.

Syd is in the negative, which I never thought I would see.

Penguincw: Well, <syd> has already qualified, so it doesn't really matter at this point. However, it would obviously be nice to finish as high as you can.
