Jan-10-16  WinKing: Daniel cleared it <Penguincw>. I know I was a little disappointed as well because I wanted to make some payouts. I have put up a couple of more NBA games to wager on.

For the <W>in.

P.S. You should've put a bet out for Seahawks-Vikings. Imagine the reaction of Vikings backers. ;)

Yeah I felt bad for their placekicker. You can't miss a chip shot like that in the NFL when the game is on the line.

For NHL Hockey Lightning - Avalanche, if the Bolts win in OT or SO, would "Lightning" still pay? Thanks. :)

(get used to these stupid questions ;) )

Not a stupid question at all. Yes if either team wins in OT or SO the the ticket of the winner will still pay.

Chessgames Bookie: I added that to the comments box for that particular wager <Penguincw>. I have to remember Hockey is a different animal. I would add some soccer games but I'm not clear on all of the rules & scoring in that game.

Chessgames Bookie: Ok I just received word that we will be starting the Championship Leg with the Tata Steel Tournament. The games will begin this Saturday 01/16/16 7:30am EST. Here is the full schedule for those interested:

http://www.tatasteelchess.com/tourn...

The pairings for Round 1 may not be posted until Friday sometime. I will have some games up as soon as is possible. There may be short notice though for getting your Round 1 bets in.

**********

I will put up a few more items to bet on before Tata begins. This will give everyone a chance to get some practice in now.

Annie K.: <WinKing> just in case you can use ideas for bets you can put up (once the real leg starts) before pairings are published...

There's the tournament winner bet, for one thing. Then, you can have exotics like "how many draws in the first round?", and of course my favorite ploy, "What first move will X play in his first game with White?" that is at least guaranteed to be paid off by Round 2 at the latest. :)

Also, here's a useful time zones converter, in case you're not using the Bookie's top menu: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclo...

Jan-11-16  WinKing: Thanks <Annie K.>. I will have some of those bets up as soon as the real leg begins. I don't want to put them up to soon & then have them wiped clean. I know the troops are getting anxious out there. :)
Jan-11-16  Ralph Malph: <If you would like to change accounts, go ahead, and I will make a note by your new account that you are a qualified for the championship round. Just be sure to sign-out of the <old> account on all devices you may use, to avoid accidentally making a bet from the wrong account.> Hi :)
Jan-11-16  WinKing: Hey <Ralph Malph> Member since Jan-05-16 how's it going? Your not a troll are you? ;)

  Annie K.: Well, not exactly.

<Ralph Malph> ... and here I thought you were going to stay with the account you were using last leg... :p

Jan-12-16  Ralph Malph: <Annie K.> It was the perfect name for this site, problem was I bet like a gimp the whole three months. Plus I'm not really the biggest Tom Hanks fan :)

<WinKing> Go easy with the 'multiple lines will win' bets, not a fan of those either :)

I'm a personal friend of the bookie. We'll see what we can do. :)

Penguincw: Nice to super fast and correctly done payoffs <WinKing>!

Also congrats to <FreddyBob51> and <Touch of Knight> for putting 200 cbs on all 3 winning lines, each, both of them.

Still, it would be nice to see the entire leaderboard all updated at the same time. I thought <cg> corrected this...

Jan-13-16  WinKing: <Penguincw: Still, it would be nice to see the entire leaderboard all updated at the same time. I thought <cg> corrected this...>

Yeah I thought they corrected it(upgraded it) too <Penguincw>. All you can do from the Bookie's standpoint is refresh the leaderboard manually. Let's wait & see what happens when the real leg starts.

Annie K.: Yeah, I don't much like multiple winner bets either, because nobody does, and somebody will almost always want an explanation about why the payoffs didn't match the given odds. ;s

That's why I tried to avoid them last leg as much as possible by choosing to respect the tournaments' tiebreaks.

<cg> tried to correct the manual Leaderboard (actually we're talking about the full standings page, the leaderboard does work...) update issue last leg, but what he tried didn't work. So for now we have 4 daily automatic updates at least, plus the manual update script was improved so that now it can be used as often as the Bookie likes. :)

Jan-13-16  scout118: I'm surprised the list of qualifiers for the championship leg is not yet out. Real betting for Tata Steel is just around the corner! When can we expect this?

Chessgames Bookie: Hi <scout118>. The list for the Championship Leg will be up very shortly. I am conjuring up some bets now. :)
Jan-13-16  scout118: <WinKing> Thanks for working on conjuring up those creative bets!

However, the list of qualifiers is usually posted a days before it is finalized so everyone can have an opportunity to review, and omissions or corrections can be made.

We also need a clear list of what prizes are up for grabs to avoid a repeat of controversies last year.

<chessgames> is working on that now <scout118>. I do not have access to reset the game. The 'bookie' has some power but not that much. I am waiting as well as you. <chessgames> has to reset the leaderboard so we can get the show on the road. I was told that would happen soon.

Penguincw: Hey! What happened to the preseason! Okay, I understand, the game must go on.

Last known update: https://web.archive.org/web/2016011....

Pretending it's an actual leg:

Congrats to <FreddyBob51> and <Touch of Knight> for tying for first. The highest possible amount was 1401 cbs (if you put 200 on each of the 3 winning lines), and they both got it.

Also congrats to <Penguincw> for becoming the only user to have placed in the top 10 of the preseason 4 times (all consecutive, data from Summer 2014 unknown).

Last congrats goes to <SwitchingQuylthulg> for joining <Penguin> and <Golden Executive> as the only 3 users to have made the top 10 of the preseason leg 3+ times.

Good luck to all in the real Championship leg.

(I should keep a page of this)

Jan-13-16  wordfunph: good luck to incoming Bookie <WinKing>!
