| Jan-25-16 | | wallytherhino: What is the time table for max bet being raised from 200, 300, 500, 1000, ETC... I know that more Chess bucks equals higher limits, but when the floor for everyone start rising? Is it a standard system or different for each bookie? |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: Hi <wallytherhino>. I don't have the answers to all of your questions but I believe it is a standard system for all of the bookies. We don't set the limits. <chessgames> does that as far as I know. <wallytherhino: What is the time table for max bet being raised from 200, 300, 500, 1000, ETC...> As far as the betting table goes for wagers being raised I know at 1,000 chessbucks it is 200 when you hit 1,500 it jumps to 500 & I think at 2,500 it jumps to 1,000. I am not clear on the exact progressions though.
The bottom line is the more chessbucks you accumulate the higher your wagering limit is set. <wallytherhino: So Far out of 10 bets you have:
53,594 CB in total wagered
17.4 Hours left in the wagers
138,885 CB in the top 10 >
Let me tell you <wallytherhino> for the first 8 rounds all of the bettors have averaged 75,000 to 80,000 chessbucks wagered per round!
There are approximately 400,000 chessbucks(give or take) in circulation total among all of the bettors. So that means in any given round almost 20% of all of the monies are being wagered. That staggers the imagination if my math is correct. The betting has been fast & furious! |

I am not clear on the exact progressions though. The bottom line is the more chessbucks you accumulate the higher your wagering limit is set.> In addition, there's the alternative max bet progression based on your credit rating; as your credit rating goes up, you can place increasingly large bets even if you have a relatively low net worth. Your credit rating depends on several factors, but mostly on how many chessbucks in total you've wagered so far; it's the game's way to reward you for playing actively. |
|
| Jan-25-16 | | centralfiles: <Switch> Do you know the details of how that works? |
|
Jan-25-16
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <centralfiles> I do not know all the details; when <CG> originally introduced credit ratings in 2008 they said they wanted to keep the exact details secret, and I've always respected that. What I do know is this:
1. Every time you place a bet your credit rating goes up. (I <think> that placing a bet of n chessbucks makes your credit rating go up by n points, but don't quote me on that.) 2. Just as with net worths, once your credit rating reaches certain limits you qualify for higher max bets. The first higher max bet you'll qualify for through your credit rating is c$300; I think that's the only way to get a c$300 max bet, which doesn't correspond to any net worth. 3. Outstanding loans decrease your credit rating; if you're right at the edge, taking a loan can decrease your max bet. (It once happened to me that depending on my loan I could either have a betting cap of c$1,000 and enough funds for a c$500 bet, or a betting cap of c$500 and enough funds for a c$1,000 bet; I couldn't actually place a 1,000 chessbuck bet either way.) 4. The credit rating decrease from loans is not permanent; when you pay the loan back, your credit rating recovers fully. 5. When originally introduced, credit ratings were more efficient if you had a negative net worth; it was even possible to make a profit and have your max bet go down as a result because you no longer had a negative net worth. This was changed pretty soon; I think nowadays it's impossible for your max bet to go down due to a profit. In fact, nowadays credit ratings are <less> efficient if you have a negative net worth; players with negative net worths can never place more than 1,000 chessbucks on any one ticket, even if they have a super-high credit rating. 6. To make up for this, players with negative or very low net worths qualify for one loan per day. As your credit rating goes up, you'll get bigger daily loans (they max out at c$1,000/day). There's a sweet spot, a hair above zero, where if you have a good enough credit rating you can both qualify for a daily loan and have a max bet higher than c$1,000. (Unless you have a really, really aggressive betting style, it's unlikely you'll ever be helped in any way by this.) |

| Jan-26-16 | | centralfiles: Thanks Switch
very informative
Being an ultra heavy better I noticed all you pointed out but got all the reasons wrong.
I thought you get a betting floor if you formerly had a net worth above x amount.
but if you get really low then even that floor goes down, didn't realize 'twas the shark taking me down. |

| Jan-26-16 | | centralfiles: I would thank you more profusely but you know you have "most informed user" rep to keep up :) |

 | | Annie K.: It's the Championship leg. :)
BTW, Tradewise Gibraltar has started - also a very strong and interesting tourney. It would be good to offer a few lines from there too. Links: http://www.gibraltarchesscongress.c... and https://chess24.com/en/watch/live-t... |

Was about to mention the same
Thanks Annie |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: Right now the pairings are not very good for Gibraltar. If I see a few good ones I might list a few. The first couple of rounds are always like that. |

 | | Annie K.: Great, thanks. :)
To be sure, there's no scarcity of betting subjects at the moment (even Tata Group B might be worth a line or two if the market is this busy?), but just for a general idea, at this early stage in strong opens, the <Top X Boards - Upset?> kind of bets can be interesting. Or another one of my favorite ploys, <Last Round With Perfect Score>. Also, an <In-Play Winner> bet can still be put up, left open a few days to accumulate a nice pool, and closed after a few more rounds. :) |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: Can the women play chess or what!!! In the 3 match ups that were posted the ladies won 2 of the 3 games...Ooh Rah! GM Harika, with the black pieces, played a French Defense & won a beauty against GM Short in just 31 moves! This evening it will be ladies night out. Cheers ladies! |

 | | Sneaky: 45:1 for Hou to beat Carlsen with black. I'm not sure if it's a great deal or dead money. |
|
| Jan-28-16 | | wallytherhino: Hou has been drowning in the deep end of high end GM events. I would say Hou is not a proper player to use for hedge bets. |

By my count there were 8 rooks left on the 7 boards in Round 11. If you had the pick 7-10 you were a winner. Thanks to all that played & congrats to those that won! |
