beatgiant: Is there going to be an <OTHER> option in the Reykjavik Winner bet?

The prospectus says, <if a very strong player joins the lineup at the last minute, they will have to be counted with the OTHER option>, which does not yet exist as of this moment.

beatgiant: Now the <OTHER> option is there, and I'm looking like a jerk. Sincere apologies to the house.

Annie K.: Yes, I just had to leave the computer for a while in the middle of setting up the bet. Basically, with winner bets of opens like this, you shouldn't start placing bets until you see the OTHER option appear at the end. :)

  moronovich: Hi <Annie K> !

Is there a fixed date when this leg ends ?

Thanks in advance.

Mar-09-18  centralfiles: Again I have been seeing this all leg the amount of CBs im getting as payouts is way more than i should be getting according to odds. See above.

Annie K.: <Is there a fixed date when this leg ends?>

Not yet... hmm, let's ask our next Bookie.

<WinKing>, Grenke Chess Classic 2018 runs 31 Mar - 9 Apr. Should I add it to my list to end the Championship Leg with, or would you like to start your Spring Leg with it? :)

<centralfiles> I asked Daniel to look into it. I suspect the new automatic seeding may be involved. ;)

  moronovich: Thanks <Annie K> !

My take is,that it is more fair to the players to know beforehand when the leg ends.So the most natural IMHO would be to let it end as the Candidates concludes.Which also would fit into a cycle of 3 month each leg.

Annie K.: "Letting the players know beforehand" is hardly an issue just yet. There's still plenty of time, and action, to either date. I also can't see what's particularly "natural" about the Candidates (in any case, if I don't include Grenke in the Championship Leg, the leg will end on the 29th, with the end of the European Individual Championship, not on the 28th with the Candidates). :)

The main factor to be considered - by my Bookie colleague, <WinKing>, this isn't actually an open-to-the-public voting question ;p - is that there are only two days between a March 29th leg-end to a Spring Leg starting with Grenke on the 31st, and Daniel likes to leave final standings (and especially <Championship Leg> final standings) up for a while, so everybody gets to see them - which would likely mean not only no time for a Winner bet on Grenke, but possibly even missing the first rounds. Whereas there's a much longer hiatus between the end of Grenke and the next main event (at least according to the current list at 2700chess).

I'd like to start with the Grenke Chess Classic 2018 <Annie K.> if it is ok with you. Might have to start with the 5th or 6th round but I'm ok with that.

Mar-10-18  mike1: would be nice to see a report for the Reykjavik tournament here on CG... don't like to look at other websites all the time before betting on it.
Mar-10-18  WinKing: Here you go <mike1>. This should help. Click on any players name & you can see what they have done in previous rounds.

Mar-10-18  centralfiles: still happening I just won 80 cbs off a 15 cb bet on kramnik.
Mar-10-18  WinKing: You know <Annie K.> I don't see how we can fit Grenke in. That tournament runs only till April 2nd. If you want to take it go ahead. That tournament is just in a bad spot. Plus they have two rounds going per day. I'll just have to wait till the U.S. Championship(April 18-30) to start. Not a problem.

Annie K.: <WinKing> The page on 2700chess is currently still linking to the (not all that notable) Grenke Chess <Open>, not the (usually top class lineup) Grenke Chess <Classic> - I don't think it's the same event. But they have the names and dates for the Classic now, at least, so they must have gotten it from somewhere... I'll have to look around and find the actual page for this much more important tournament (if it's even uploaded yet - it wasn't last time I checked).

But either way, yeah, I think jamming a Championship Leg's end between two events this closely spaced would make for a rushed and undignified finish to the year, and an also rushed and unsatisfactory coverage of the event in the next leg, so better tack it on to the Championship Leg. :)

  Annie K.: Oh, it's up now: http://www.grenkechessclassic.de/en/

Quite a prestigious event this year too. So if you decide you really want it, I guess you can still change your mind...

Otherwise you can have a leisurely April 18 start, with both the US Championship and the Gashimov Memorial at the same time. ;)

Annie K.: OK, further research. ;) Since the matter is rather important, I went to check out the exact schedules of all involved events, since publicly given start and end times often include opening and closing ceremonies that we needn't observe. Turns out the last round of the Candidates is actually on the 27th, and the last round of the European Individual Championships is on the 28th - so we can end the leg that soon - but the Grenke Chess Classic actually starts games on the 31st. It's not a very long window... no chance of a Winner bet, at the very least, although an In-Play Winner bet, to close after several rounds, is still possible.

Mar-11-18  WinKing: No you go ahead & take Grenke <Annie K.>. Too many rounds will be lost if I take it.
