Annie K.: <WinKing> thanks, I'm amazed FIDE forgot to be hush-hush top secretive about it... is Agon not running this event? ;p

Anyway, I considered putting up some bets, but it's much too early - you have to think about new players, who may not realize that if they tie all their cash up with such a long-term bet, they could get stuck without even a chance for loans.

I'll put something fast-paying up from TCEC in a few days for PayDay. :)

Feb-10-18  WinKing: <Annie K.: <WinKing> thanks, I'm amazed FIDE forgot to be hush-hush top secretive about it... is Agon not running this event? ;p>

I'm shocked myself <Annie K.>. Maybe FIDE pushed Agon a little this time around to drum up a little more interest early on. Not sure how close FIDE & Agon really are?! If push came to shove I think FIDE would get what it wants. Just my opinion.

Annie K.: Heh, TCEC was on a break between divisions for the last few days. The Premier Division just started, with a 90' + 10" time control and no opening book for the engines in this stage - I'm going to wait another day to get an idea of how long the games last on average in practice, so I can make a reasonable closing times guesstimate, and then we'll have some action. :)

Chessgames Bookie: <♔ ChessBookie Pay Day Announcement! ♔>

Pay Day will be tomorrow, on the 15th of February: 1000 chessbucks will be added to every <active> Bookie player's account.

New/inactive players, make sure to place at least one bet before that date, if you want to be included in the payout!

Feb-15-18  zborris8: <Annie K. - What match would that be? Link plz.>

Too late! No bets were ever posted for the games. Examples: Nakamura vs Carlsen, 2018 , Nakamura vs Carlsen, 2018 , Nakamura vs Carlsen, 2018 , etc.

Feb-21-18  WinKing: Hi <Annie K.>. I think Artemiev won his game against Karthikeyan in round 2. They reported it as a draw first then changed it to 0-1.

beatgiant: In today's pick 3, if I'm not mistaken, Svane's name is misspelled as 'Svanen'. Some plungers may pretend they were confused and blame their losses on that....

Annie K.: I expect Bookie players to know better than that. :p

But I'll fix the typo for the sake of aesthetic considerations. ;)

WannaBe: Need a proposition bet for Tal Memorial, how many Sacs total. Something like over 12.5 or under 12.5

=)

Feb-28-18
Premium Chessgames Member
Annie K.: Nope. :) I don't like complete coin-toss bets, even discounting the little detail that I also have no intention of actually going over each and every single rapid & blitz game to look for sacs. You're welcome to put up bets like that when you take a turn as Bookie. ;p

  WannaBe: Okie, understood. =)

It's actually not that hard, if you only do the main tournament (standard time control).

When I click on a tournament page, it shows sacrifices (according to CG.com), so it is just a matter of counting them.

offramp: MWannaBe: Need a proposition bet for Tal Memorial>

Number of games over 100 moves.

Mar-01-18  wallytherhino: You can do a prop bet along the lines of being undefeated at the end of the day.

From Website:

March 2 (rounds 1-3)

March 3 (rounds 4-6)

March 4 (rounds 7-9)

Will a player close out round ## undefeated?

Yes

No

## would be 3, 6 or 9

The beauty of this is there are players who manage to draw when he would have lost and if they can lead the oftentimes one-sided betting (90/10) going to the 10% because of the draw heavy player.

  moronovich: Hi Bookie !

re Tal memorial there are odds up now and thank you!.But are these just for the rapid part or a combination of rapid and blitz ?

Mar-01-18
Premium Chessgames Member
Annie K.: <moronovich> as the settlement date (which I set to March 4) indicates, this bet is for the rapid part only. The entire Blitz tournament will take place on the 5th, and there will be a separate winner bet for it... provided the organizers will disclose the names of the 4 mystery players promised to join the tournament for the Blitz part alone, in time to set up the bet.

Oh and btw, the odds appear automatically as people start placing bets on each outcome/line - I have nothing to do with that.

  moronovich: Thanks <Annie K> !
Mar-03-18  Boomie: Bizarre distribution on the blitz board (3:30 AM 3/4 GMT). It looks like somebody bet their entire stake by spreading it more or less evenly. Everybody is 400 or 500. Is this common betting strategy? Or is it just somebody who can't play any more and is going all in to keep the chips in the game? I've seen that in Web poker tourneys.
Mar-04-18
Premium Chessgames Member
Annie K.: Doesn't seem like a very profitable strategy... maybe somebody is trying to donate their funds to the common good. ;)

I have no way of checking that sort of detail (Daniel does, but there's no reason to ask him about it), but I can say that this isn't automatic seeding.

Mar-04-18  Boomie: In the poker tourneys, the guy trying to lose usually announces it in advance. It produces some novel plays. In one game, I was directly to the right of a guy with a huge stack going all in on every deal. I limped in with any hand that could beat Q7. If anybody called his all in, I folded. Otherwise I went heads up all in with some goofy looking hands.
