 | | Chessgames Bookie: Uncle Vinnie is a pretty calloused individual <morf>. You might just have to wait till he offers you another loan. You usually only have to wait one day I think. I have taken out loans when I play but not very often. This is not my area of expertise. If <wallytherhino> reads this maybe he could weigh in & give some advice on the subject. |

Jun-11-18
 | | Chessgames Bookie: I will be putting up quite a few more bets before we finish this Leg <morf>. I will even have bets on the Blitz games. Stockpile as many chessbucks as you can. ;) |
|
| Jun-12-18 | | morfishine: <Chessgames Bookie> Thanks! |
|
Jun-12-18
 | | Chessgames Bookie: Hey! Good luck <morf>! |
|
| Jun-12-18 | | wallytherhino: <morf> the loan resets every 24 hours. The loan amount is based off of initial capital and then scales when repeat the cycle of taking and paying back the loan. You qualify for 100cb-500cb loan every day if you are in the negative. The 500cb comes later in the cycle to help you catch up against the field. |

 | | eternaloptimist: <Bookie> Are we going to get another 1,000 c$ bonus added to our accts before this leg ends? |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: <eternaloptimist: <Bookie> Are we going to get another 1,000 c$ bonus added to our accts before this leg ends?> Sorry, no more bonuses <eternaloptimist>.
Only one bonus is paid out per Leg. |

Jun-12-18
 | | eternaloptimist: <Bookie> ok |
|
| Jun-12-18 | | morfishine: Thanks <wallytherhino>! Much appreciated! I figured it was something like that I also forgot you get only 1 loan per day, no matter what... *Its crazy the swings, I started way down, then up to 20th then down to 88th, then back to 20th then a huge plummet again I can't get ahold of this thing! lol |

 | | moronovich: Wow <Chnebelgrind> is back! |

 | | FSR: "Over" has won in Karjakin-Anand. Caruana beat Nakamura. |
|
| Jun-13-18 | | wallytherhino: <Morfishine> you can come back real quick. Let's assume you are in the hole 500CB.
If you take a 100CB loan and then wager across the board on high-risk bets that pay between (10:1) to (20+:1) all you need is one bet to pay off and you incrementally crawl back. If you get lucky and spike 2-3 high-risk bets then you are back in business ahead of schedule. CAUTION: The style of play changes on what your position is. I am currently qualified for 10K start on the championship leg. If you have not placed in the top 10 I strongly suggest caution once you are in the top 10. I am comfortable with bouncing in and out of the top 10, and this level of comfort is not a normal risk profile. |
|
| Jun-13-18 | | morfishine: <wallytherhino> Thats pretty much what I was doing (I've wagered on dogs in the past) which enabled me to hit a few 900CB scores as well as one 1,200 & 4,500 score. But the dry spells have been killing me when 10 or 12 bets in a row yield nada, which seems strange since I think I'm playing the odds. Well, this is my first leg ever, so there is some learning I need to absorb Thanks again and good luck! |
|
| Jun-13-18 | | wallytherhino: <morfishine> I have been playing since 2005/2006. I was always near the bottom my first year. The second year I hit a good run, and I have qualified for the 10K championship start more than half of the years I have played. Pick quality winners and do your research.
Use chessgames and other resources to find:
What is the head to head record?
What is the trajectory of the player (FIDE main page is great for this)? What is the players kryptonite?
IE: Svidler almost always plays bridesmaid (never wins the tournament), the generation of the volatile great (Moro, Shirov, and company is waining), carlsen is not a young up and comer (the field has beat him up from time to time), in open fields with ratings ranging from 1800-2800 do even more research than normal, and many other corner cases. |
|
| Jun-13-18 | | morfishine: <wallytherhino> Thanks much for the very well thought out advice! With an odds game, care must always be taken. For example, if one finds that 68% of all games are drawn, then one can play just draws and should do all right...(but it doesn't always work out that way!) And besides having to research and wager when a game will be decisive, one must factor in how much to wager And therein lies the problem [another example was when Carlsen lamely shook hands on a 17 move draw in the final round. I was certain he would win and bet heavily and also placed the 'over'. That was very disappointing, to say the least...at least give me the over! LOL ] But its all fun, and thanks again!
best, morf |

Jun-14-18
 | | FSR: People are betting a lot more sensibly now than they did on the first two days of the tournament. Please stop that. |
|
| Jun-14-18 | | morfishine: <FSR> Great comeback! |
|
| Jun-15-18 | | morfishine: I have 1,000 CB's riding on Giri to win. This will pay almost 12,000 CB's catapulting me from 118th place (out of 123 players) directly into 1st place Go Giri!

 | | Chessgames Bookie: Tomorrow is the final day of the Grand Chess Tour(Your Next Move) tournament.
Please note that it starts 2 hours earlier(6am EDT). Be sure to get your picks in. Also, the Spring Leg will end on Sunday, June 24th. We will finish up with the
Paris Grand Chess Tour(Rapid & Blitz) tournament. |
|
| Jun-15-18 | | morfishine: Giri's collapsing :( I'm doomed lol |
|
| Jun-15-18 | | Marmot PFL: < Thanks much for the very well thought out advice! With an odds game, care must always be taken. For example, if one finds that 68% of all games are drawn, then one can play just draws and should do all right...(but it doesn't always work out that way!)> tell me about it, after a lousy day I tried to get even all at once by betting draw in So-Nakamura. |
|
| Jun-16-18 | | sydbarrett: I'm too busy lately and shouldn't be playing, but your constant up-to-the-minute bet settlements and plethora of bets makes it irresistible. Excellent job bookie! |
|
| Jun-16-18 | | sydbarrett: Win 1000 one minute, lose 1000 30 minutes later, repeat. This is wild But I have my favorite card awaiting me in the end... the Killer Karjakin card. I got 640 bucks that says he wins it all :O |
|
Jun-16-18
 | | Chessgames Bookie: Thanks <syd>! We aim to please. |
|
| Jun-16-18 | | morfishine: <sydbarrett> I have 1,000 on Giri paying 12-1 but it doesn't look good :( |
