Chessgames Bookie: <♔ ChessBookie Pay Day Announcement! ♔>

Pay Day will be later today: 1000 chessbucks will be added to every <active> Bookie player's account.

New/inactive players, make sure to place at least one bet ASAP, if you want to be included in the payout!

Nov-19-18  sydbarrett: I was betting heavily against 4 out 4 Fabi white Sicilians. Well, ouch.
Nov-22-18  AlphaZerox: ..Test..123..Test

Hi <Chessgames Bookie> Is there any problem with my Pay Day money ? Didn't rechieve my $1000 ... was I to late ??

Thanx in advance

Chessgames Bookie: <DerDiemer> I can't recall anyone ever reporting a bug in the Pay Day code. If you placed your first bets this leg late on the 17th I would guess you were too late (and if you placed them later than the 17th you were definitely too late).

If you're sure you were not late, though, I can ask <Sargon> to look into it.

We apologize for the vagueness of the Pay Day deadline; the deadlines never have been more exact than "whenever <Sargon> finds time to execute the Pay Day code", so even we don't know the hour and minute in advance.

Nov-29-18  Dr Winston OBoogie: Hi Mr/Miss Chess bookie.. When does this leg end? I'm sat in 9th place right now, can't believe <everyone> didn't put every cb they had on Magnus in the tie breaks, it even made CNN! - not the Chessgames chess bookie, the WCC :)

Its no problem, will use this season for a practice run.

Just wish i can bet more than 200 chessbucks at a time. How many chessbucks must i have to bet more ??

Chessgames Bookie: I forget exactly what the limits are. A net worth of c$2,500 is definitely enough to allow you larger bets, though.

Also, if you bet enough, your credit rating will improve to the point where you'll be allowed to place larger bets even with a low net worth.

Nov-30-18  DerDiemer: Thank you <Chessgames Bookie>
Dec-02-18  morfishine: I can hardly wait for the London Chess Classic wagering to start, I got some catching up to do!

offramp: I wish there were c$1,000 added at the start of every major event.
Dec-02-18  Count Wedgemore: <offramp: I wish there were c$1,000 added at the start of every major event.>

Dear, <offramp>. This apparently sensible proposal seems harmless on the surface.

BUT, in my (not so) humble opinion, this reckless suggestion of yours would set a dangerous precedent, and could lead to hyper-inflation!! I worry that the Chessbookie game, after being flooded with cheap chessbucks, would be like the Venezuelan Economy (who has inflation rates at 5000%).

The chessbucks would lose so much value that eventually they would be worth nothing. They would have lost all value. Therefore, there would be no more point in playing the game, which would be a relief for the bookie that no longer would have to post Leaderboards like:

(1) Offramp 283, 655, 032, 009
(2) Count Wedgemore 224, 825, 991, 243

It would be like Germany in the 1920s! People would be throwing worthless CBs at each other!! And the next thing would be food and fuel shortages, riots in the streets, a huge black market (run by <Winston OBoogie>), urban guerilla warfare, desecration of player pages..

This site would descend into chaos!!

<chessgames> would be degraded to a @#$%hole third-world country in no time!!

So, I strongly warn against <offramp>'s suggestion. IT MUST NEVER BE IMPLEMENTED.

Annie K.: Traditionally, the Championship Leg starts with Tata Steel, which will be held 12 - 27 Jan. I just looked at the currently listed upcoming events at 2700chess, and decided to add the Rapid and Blitz WCCs to this leg.

Note that these will not offer a lot of betting opportunities, since pairings for fast time control events are rarely available long enough in advance - most likely these will just mean winner bets, and maybe a few exotics.

We will end the Fall Leg on Dec 30, with the conclusion of the Blitz World Championship.

Plan your strategies accordingly, etc. ;)

Dec-07-18  morfishine: London Classic starts in 4 days, there's bound to be some fireworks and I can hardly wait for some bets to be posted

Penguincw: Beautiful. Exactly 4551 chessbucks wagered on both lines.

London Chess Classic Final: Winner

Dec-15-18  Dr Winston OBoogie: <offramp: I wish there were c$1,000 added at the start of every major event.>

I think that's a great suggestion, Offy. It'd give people a chance at a comeback.

Annie.. When does this leg end? I know when the championship leg starts and i won't be starting with 10k but when do I know if I've qualified for the next CCL??

Dec-17-18  EIDorado: I bet on the first blood in the final, and everywhere on the official site the final was both games: Nakamura-MVL AND Caruana-Aronian. Why is the final here only Nakamura-MVL?
Dec-17-18
Premium Chessgames Member
Annie K.: <EIDorado> The final was only Nakamura - Vachier-Lagrave; they were the actual <finalists>. Caruana and Aronian were just having a playoff match for third place. :)
Dec-17-18  EIDorado: Ok, but this is not what the official site says. If it's different you must tell us exactly what we are betting on. Thank you for the answer!

Championship?
