Aug-26-19  morfishine: That was me Dear <syd>, 100 turned into 2,200 in a flash
Aug-29-19  mike1: May I ask why the Armageddon bet was refunded? The Armageddon game was not needed.
But not cancelled.
Aug-29-19  varishnakov: I am also raising a fuss over that. I bet on the other results with that one in mind.

Penguincw: The bookie posted on the bet < "This bet has been cancelled, because the organizers' last-minute addition of blitz games before the Armageddon has significantly changed the odds on whether the Armageddon would be needed or not." >, and I agree with that.
Aug-30-19  morfishine: <mike1> & <varishnakov> I sympathize completely

Talk about a goof, I completely forgot to place any bets whatever on the playoff and watched <syd> leapfrog to 1st

Not good

Aug-31-19  sydbarrett: No sweetie, I made my recent fortune mostly on the old bet, not the playoff. I was the majority owner of Liren Inc.
Aug-31-19  morfishine: <sydbarrett> Nice Job on the Liren bet! I had 100 CB's on Nepo that would've paid 2200

Good luck during the remainder of this leg!

Oh, and stop calling me sweetie LOL

Sep-08-19  morfishine: World Cup Knockout 1st round: 9-10
Sep-08-19  sydbarrett: I'll play
Sep-13-19  scout118: Quite a low energy bookie we have this time. There should have been bets for the second round. Need to get a move!

  moronovich: Same here !
Sep-15-19  scout118: <moronovich> I meant this Bookie has got to get a move on or got to get moving. I'm not too concerned about placing last but there should be bets for rounds 3, 4, 5, 6 and the championship. Even for the tie breaks.

Not sure who this bookie is and thanks to this person for volunteering. But come on now. I'm sure it's not Annie K or WinKing.

Penguincw: According to Chessgames Bookie chessforum (kibitz #12630), it's <Kevin>.

< A big round of applause for User: WinKing for conducting this Championship leg, the last ChessBookie leg run by a volunteer Bookie.

That's right, the daily management of the ChessBookie game is now returning to CG employee <Kevin>, who had run it before, several years ago. Welcome back, Kevin! >

Sep-18-19  scout118: Hello Mr Chessbookie, where are the bets for Round 4? Need to get moving!
Sep-25-19  sydbarrett: Please give up. I'm going to win no matter what. Just like my Yankees will finally return to champion status this year. It is destiny.
Sep-25-19  wordfunph: <sydbarrett> too early, i am just few ranks behind you. I'll catch up.

see you in the homestretch.

good luck..

Sep-27-19  sydbarrett: I took you seriously until I checked the standings. Hope you still got some betting money to have fun with, sir.
Sep-27-19  sydbarrett: Radjabov defeated the more popular candidate MVL and widened the gap between me and #2 and #3. yes yes yes go Radish. MVL was the only remaining player I didn't bet much on to win it all. Destiny. I'm sorry, but you will find that the gap will widen even further the next few days, boys (and gals).
Oct-04-19  sydbarrett: The wait between bets is so long O_O
Oct-04-19  wordfunph: <World Cup Knockout Final: Ding vs Radjabov : Radjabov [cash in ticket] 200 YOU WIN! COLLECT 480 7:5 2.40 480 Oct-04-19>

<World Cup Knockout Third Place Match: Vachier-Lagrave vs Yu : Vachier-Lagrave [cash in ticket] 200 YOU WIN! COLLECT 338 2:3 1.69 338 Oct-04-19>

<sydbarrett> good luck :)

Oct-04-19  sydbarrett: Thank you. And wish my Yankees good luck too please. Never mind they don't need it. For being so nice, you get 1000 bucks. Now hit me with me your best shot
Oct-08-19  morfishine: Any bets for European Club Cup?

Annie K.: <Update> Kevin got a job that makes it difficult for him to tend to Bookie duties in a timely manner, so we released him from this task; he remains our puzzles master. For now, I took the Bookie's management back myself, but I'm hoping to find someone else to train for it ASAP.

I'm still mostly using 2700chess.com to check for upcoming events, but turns out they are not as reliable as they used to be. :\ The European Club Cup will start <November> 9th, not October. I just deleted it from the list. In any case, I am having second thoughts about covering team events at all; board pairings are never available in time, and betting on team results is more of a maths- than a chess-related game, and the research required to set up these bets is too time-consuming for me.

We have the FIDE Chess.com Grand Swiss starting on the 10th. This event will be the last of the leg, as we still need to squeeze a Fall leg into November-December; the traditional first event of the Championship Leg, Tata Steel, is scheduled to start on Jan 11.

Oct-08-19  morfishine: Thanks for the update <Annie K.>!
