| Sep-15-07 | | malthrope: <WannaBe: ♔ !!Handi-Capper's Corner!! ♔ [...]><<Remember, Monday is a rest day!>> Thanks <WannaBe> - so glad that Monday is a rest day I'm exhausted from all this betting! ~lol~ Got lucky (almost had a heart attack waiting to see if Vishy would draw?) and hit the Daily Double with 'Draw-Morozevich' (at $500) and $250 for Moro to beat Svidler... Broke even on the Czech Carlsbad Tourney and no c-bucks left to bet on GMT (surely would have gone for 8... Na6 - based on the tips alone). ;-) |

 | | WannaBe: Wow, that shortest game proposition is the hardest to handicap/predict, quick database search shows that they all had relatively quick draws, and really drawn out games... =( Me thinkth, me should leave that bet alone. |
| Sep-16-07 | | percyblakeney: I got the idea to place a last minute bet on Leko beating Gelfand since around 4 times the money looked tempting, but it wasn't even close. It's not easy to win games on this level. Aronian has had white against Leko four times, all draws. Kramnik has had white against Grischuk twice, both draws. The three last Svidler-Gelfand games were drawn. Morozevich-Anand looks more unpredictable, with different results in all the three latest games. This far Morozevich is also the only player with two decisive games in Mexico. |
| Sep-16-07 | | you vs yourself: You gotta play the odds. If you're getting 4 to 1 and you think the chances of Leko winning with white are more than 25%, you have to go for it since it's a good bet in the long run. |
| Sep-16-07 | | percyblakeney: Well, today I'll be busy with other things and put 1100 something on various bets without too much of thinking. I bet on Kramnik winning since I'd like to see Grischuk do well (the "win the bet or get the result you would like to see"-strategy), draw in Morozevich-Anand and win for Svidler, the latter two examples of the "I don't really believe in it but the odds should end up decent"-strategy. |
| Sep-16-07 | | technical draw: <Warning> To <Touch of Knight> You're getting too close to my domain. Back off! You better win some bets soon or my boys will pay you a visit! |
| Sep-16-07 | | Touch of Knight: <technical draw> Please, hold off your boys. From now on I'll only bet on Leko playing draws! |
| Sep-17-07 | | Tactic101: <Technical Draw> is playing against himself. What's his record? Meanwhile, I'm tired being second best. I'm going all in! Of course, it's not real money............ is it? |
| Sep-17-07 | | malthrope: <Tactic101: <Technical Draw> is playing against himself. What's his record?> You mean you haven't read all ninety-two pages of kibitzing here in CG Bookies Forum? Well! He's <TD> the ruler of the betting underworld where he reigns as the undisputed King! <devilish grin exposed> <Meanwhile, I'm tired being second best. I'm going all in! Of course, it's not real money............ is it?> Oh goodie - competition! :-)
My best piece of advice - be careful what you wish for! ~lol~ In Rd #4 I bet just short of 6 grand with several outcomes possible... Riding high with 10K plus sitting in the bank or back down in the lower levels with only $1,500 and the two grand previously borrowed from CG bookie on tab all ready to fire back into the betting pool for Rd #5. As it now stands stayed somewhere in the middle of my betting strategy losing only a few hundred. Even near the very end with Vishy only drawing (or for that matter Moro not winning this game either) missed winning an additional $4K there (+5K if Moro had won). We still have a long way to go yet... 'Good Luck!' ;-) - Mal |

| Sep-17-07 | | technical draw: Heck, I get rid of one and another pops up. Now <acirce> is too close for comfort. This place is getting too full of losers maybe I better move along. |
| Sep-17-07 | | Tactic101: I'm betting on all draws. I just hope that the players are nice tommorrow to each other! Maybe the rest day will soften them up......... :) My virtual life depends on it...... |
| Sep-17-07 | | technical draw: <Meanwhile, I'm tired being second best. I'm going all in! Of course, it's not real money............ is it?> What do you mean it's not real money? Of course it is! The Bonano family is in charge. Crazy Joe "bananas" Bonano has the franchise. If you don't pay your debts he starts with your little toe and works his way up breaking every bone in your body, other than that he's just a nice Italian kid. |
| Sep-17-07 | | malthrope: Hehehe <TD> Yes, not taking this CG bookie betting seriously is a serious mistake! ~lol~ Oh and don't forget the 'cement shoes' that Crazy Joe "bananas" Bonano is quite fond of... Had a very close call *not* drowning in the lake in the Spring betting leg. Fortunately, I found a way out and fortuitously bribed him with an offer he couldn't refuse - a double deluxe Italian sub sandwich (with an open bar). For which he quickly forgot all about the practice of his usual ways and gladly gave his boys and the cement truck the afternoon off. Close call! ;-) |
| Sep-17-07 | | technical draw: Yep, good ol Crazy Joe, always had a weakness for dem Italian Subs. But better be careful now, he's on a diet and is meaner than ever. |

| Sep-17-07 | | technical draw: http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach... Above is the Chess Bookie enforcement team....shivers!!!! |
| Sep-17-07 | | SeeSee: <TD> Gosh, what a terrifying group of characters! Mad Sam DeStefano was Tony Spilatro's mentor in the Chicago mob (The Outfit--I wonder there's no picture of Murray Humphries). He was a terrible torture-murderer--he loved to use an ice pick. And John Gotti modeled himself after Albert Anastasia! And Paul Castellano and Carlo Gambino were cousins. Frightening group. Luckily, thery are all gone now! I'm sure glad the Loanshark at Chessgames has forgotten that I now owe him about $800! |

| Sep-17-07 | | technical draw: Hey! Kidddo Yeah, you See See, I aint forgotten a ting: ChessBookie Game |

 | | WannaBe: ♔ !!Handi-Capper's Corner!! ♔
Round 5:
Leko-Kramnik: Kramnik leads it with a +14 -8 =60. When Leko have white, he is +5 -6 =31. This is counting all games, (way too many to spent time to filter them.) Grischuk-Morozevich: Not counting rapid/blindfold, they are tied at +4 -4 =7. When Grischuk have white, he is +3 -1 =2 against Morozevich, with the victories coming in 2002. Anand-Svidler: Anand leads it with +9 -2 =26, (counting all the games) when Anand have white, he is +9 -1 =8 against Svidler Gelfand-Aronian: Not counting rapid/blindfold, Gelfand leads it with +2 -0 =10. When Gelfand have white, he is +2 -0 =3. |
| Sep-17-07 | | SeeSee: <TD> Oh...no...I, but...that is. Listen, I've made some very good bets this time (instead of the "Black will win all the games of the round" or "Kramnik's due for a loss against Odd Lie" kinds of bets I made before). You'll see(see--get it! SeeSee! Haha!...uh...why aren't you laughing?). This next round, I bet on Anand to win, and Kramnik to win, and that the shortest game will be Anand and Svidler's. I'll be raking in the bucks! Luckily, you don't know my exact address here on East 77th street between Second and Third Avenues in New York City, or I'd be in trouble! |
| Sep-17-07 | | Ragh: <technical draw> On the contrary, your link took me to the doorstep of a kind and generous loanshark, who was trying to donate some money -- <Well Ragh, I see you could use a line of credit. How does a nice 500 chessbuck loan sound?> I think he was pissed when I clicked on the Reject button. |
| Sep-17-07 | | technical draw: <Ragh> Oh, my pal, Ragh. Here's the best tip you will ever recieve: NEVER turn down a loan offer from the loanshark. Thats the only way you can be sure to have big bucks when you need them. When you have a low net you might get a hundred and then it's up hill the rest of the way, Grab it while you can! |
| Sep-17-07 | | Ragh: <td> Thanks for the gambling tip. My net funds are in 4 digits now. I don't know what to do with this huge treasure now.. well, other than to wash them away at the bookie again... then get humiliated at the hands of loanshark. ;) And thus, the cycle continues.. PS: Unlike Sneaky, how come you did not get rewarded with an year preemie for having finished first from the last. |
| Sep-17-07 | | malthrope: <technical draw: <Ragh> [...] Here's the best tip you will ever recieve: NEVER turn down a loan offer from the loanshark. [...] Grab it while you can!.> <TD> is of course correct! As after you steal the money... ~Oops~ Sorry, I meant borrow the money from Mr. Brass Knuckles with the Gold & Ebony chess set you can always pay a portion of it immediately back and adjust your loan to suit your needs accordingly. In fact, I'll be taking out another $2,000 loan later tonight (to increase my working capital), but only after the Loanshark has collected his nightly 'vig.' As there is no sense in needlessly paying him the bloody interest unless it's absolutely necessary. Of course, this certainly doesn't apply to <TD> as operating in his realm the Loanshark collecting his 'vig' is something that he continually counts on... Daily! ~lol~ :-) - Mal PS: <SeeSee> Got a big kick when I read your Forum pages. Funny stuff! ;-) |
| Sep-17-07 | | TIMER: <malthrope> I reached over 27000 once (starting from 1000) going for broke each day borrowing as much as possible as you suggest, and then lost it all trying to reach 30 to 40 thousand!( unfortunately I was competing with players who started with 10 times more than me but I didn't know when to stop) 2 days ago I lost 2000, yesterday I won 2000 back, now I think that I shall be more conservative! (I don't want to beat technical draw to last again) |
| Sep-17-07 | | percyblakeney: I'm tired of trying to make sensible bets and went for Grischuk, Leko and Svidler to win in round 5. If I get one of those right I'll be surprised. |
