Round 10: Monday

Kramnik-Anand: C'mon, it's Kramnik vs. Anand, who cares what their past record is? They've played each other 119 times, counting standard time, rapid, blindfold, blitz, etc... First place may very well be on the line here, all the records can just go out the window!! (I think it will be a draw, 55 moves...) Their earlier game was a draw, after 65 moves, in a Petrov Defense game.

Svidler-Morozevich: Svidler have a record of +5 -4 =6 all time when paired with Morozevich. Svidler is +4 -3 =2 when he have white against Morozevich. Morozevich won their earlier meeting with a beautiful Scotch Game.

Aronian-Grischuk: All times, Aronian leads it +1 -0 =4 against Grischuk, (Their earlier meeting resulted in a 31-move draw, with Ruy Lopez) Aronian, with white pieces is +1 -0 =2 against Grischuk.

Gelfand-Leko: Gelfand is +3 -2 =9 against Leko (All-time), with white, Gelfand is +0 (two wins are rapid games) -1 (Dortmund, 2007 Gelfand vs Leko, 2007) =6.

*All statistics does not take into account rapid/blindfold/blitz, 'less otherwise noted as such.

Sep-23-07  pawnofdoom: Finally, my strategy of always betting on the less likely to win player pays off. Moro's win tonight just got me like 2000 chessbucks, bringing me into the positives!
Sep-24-07  malthrope: <pawnofdoom: [...] Moro's win tonight just got me like 2000 chessbucks, bringing me into the positives!>

I bet on him too <pawnofdoom> since I figured it was his turn to win one and win BIG he sure did in a real nice game - Morozevich vs Kramnik, 2007 :-)

and...

WannaBe: <Chessgames Bookie> Just a question, I see, that The World vs Gert Jan Timmerman: 9...? closes in less time, that the extension time. Does this mean we expect a move from GM Timmerman? Or will the window for this bet be extended?

Sep-25-07  Tactic101: I'm coming back hard! Don't count me out yet! I could still get lucky and bounce back into the top ten.
Sep-25-07  malthrope: <Tactic101: I'm coming back hard! Don't count me out yet! I could still get lucky and bounce back into the top ten.>

Go <Tactic101> GO! :-)

Just to demonstrate how close CG.com betting goes sometimes... If Vishy had *won* (it was so close but understandable and had a sizable counter bet on Kramnik just in case) I'd be +16K 'Net Worth.' Plus, if Moro had also won then +20K 'Net Worth!' (would have hit '2 draws' in 'How many draws?' as well). ~lol~ It was a small risk (losing only 2.2K) but I freely choose to take the chance! ;-) - Mal

Sep-25-07  Tactic101: No, let's change it around...

Go TD!!! GO!!! Straight to the bottom of the stack......... and beyond! The Loanshark must be wringing for his neck by now..... :)

Now, something a bit more sensible....

Go <malthrope>! Show them who's the boss! :)

Sep-25-07  malthrope: <Tactic101: [...] Go TD!!! GO!!! Straight to the bottom of the stack......... and beyond! The Loanshark must be wringing for his neck by now..... :) [...]>

Hehehe... Looks like he's <TD> facing some tough competition with <Tartalacreme> holding down spot #388 at -$1,217 but <TD> looks strong at the very bottom of the stack with -$2,033 in negative c-bucks! :-)))

<Go <malthrope>! Show them who's the boss! :)>

I'll do what I can but it's rough at the top too! (now in 2nd place thanks to <Buriag>) ~ROFL~ Did I mention <Stonehenge> <TIMER> and <Robin01> yet? ;-) - Mal

Chessgames Bookie: <WannaBe> If GM Timmerman makes a move before the extension is up we will post it. In the meantime we will continue to extend the betting daily till he moves.
Sep-25-07  technical draw: Hey, who is this Tartalacreme anyway. Any relation to Tartar sauce, ha ha ! Anyway he's too darn close because I erred and bet on Zappa to win and that could bring me 700 chessbucks and make it too close for comfort, C'mon Tartar Sauce start picking winners! Look at Wannabe's advice (then do the opposite!)
Sep-26-07  Tactic101: Did TD bet on 1. Zappa to win? Or did he bet on a 2. tie?

If 1., then TD is bound to end up near the top, much to his (and everyone else's) shock. (perhaps for TD, maybe even despair)

If 2., don't worry TD, you still lose! :)

Sep-26-07  Tactic101: Holding a poll

1. Who thought that Rybka would win?

2. Who thought the Zappa would win?

True, the match isn't over, but a two point advantage is a bit hard to lose.

Sep-26-07  technical draw: <Tactic101> I did a dumb thing. I bet on Zappa but I didn't bet my usual 200 which would have put me in the top 10. What I did was bet just 40 dollars which would put me next-to-last ahead of that Johnny come-lately Tartalacreme. Unless, of course he bet on zappa too, then....

If so, we need new overall record for rd12 :D

Sep-27-07  pawnofdoom: Is there any way to discard all lost tickets at once? I have 23 tickets that I never bothered to discard from before (none of which paid off anything) and I don't really want to go through the trouble of clicking "discard ticket" for all of them. Is there any button around that says something like "discard all"?
