 | | Domdaniel: <mckmac> In fact the double digit 'master number' thing *is* helpful - I see how it works now. I'm more familiar with a version that just reduces everything to single digits. You're right on the button as regards people telling you what a number 'means'. Though I've had interesting conversations with people who argue that 'superstitious' systems like fortune-telling, numerology, etc -- if sufficiently rich and complex -- can be seen as another way into the unconscious. Which is valid enough, I guess, as long as I don't have to actually believe in magic. The casting out nines trick is incredibly basic mathematics, known thousands of years ago. Which doesn't stop people still writing whole books about its mystic energies. |

| May-08-07 | | Knightlord: <I'm a softy/ wimp/ wet/ class traitor ... >
No you're not. You are a boorish Irish peasant, that's what you are, I says. |
|
| May-08-07 | | mckmac: Have a nice one-work waits only so long and I hear my train a comin'... |
|
| May-08-07 | | Knightlord: Er sorry <Dom>. Been hanging around on the Short pages too long, I'm afraid. |
|
May-08-07
 | | Domdaniel: <Knightlord> S'alright. I was trying to work up the courage to LOL twice in one day. God, I need a potato-flavour Guinness massage after that... Boorish? Poorish, maybe. Perhaps even <hoorish>... |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Domdaniel: <mckmac> Males a delicacy? It's possible, I suppose, but they'd need to be thoroughly scrubbed and soaked in brine first. None of yer trendy stir-fries.> choke HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
heh
thanks for the guffaw mate.
heh dam funny that. |

May-08-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Boorish peasant> nay, nay, and that's also not the funniest thing <Dom> has been called (although it is plenty funny). IMO, this is the funniest. When <Mack> realized that <Dom> boycotts <St. Paddy's Day>, he referred to him as a <miserable old git>. LOL it was my inspiration for calling that horrible <Insane Olde Batte> woman a <miserable old bag> in <Eyal's> forum. Thank God she's gone.
<Insane Olde Batte
No leters please> |
|
May-08-07
 | | Domdaniel: Er, who's gone? Where? Not to Arminia, I hope, they say it's dangerous. And you can't be too careful crossing the road. Why did the Olde Batte cross the road?
Confused of Cork. |
|
| May-09-07 | | WBP: <Why did the Olde Batte cross the road?> To hit the Olde Balle? (Sorry <Dom>, I couldn't resist!) |
|
May-09-07
 | | Domdaniel: <WBP> At last, an answer that makes sense. Are there more of them in your forum? |
|
May-09-07
 | | Domdaniel: Not saying, eh? Very cryptic and koan-like, I'm sure. "These things are sent to try us", as the accused said in Robojudge II: Gavel of Steel. I'll go and check things out myself tomorrow, after a night in the wilderness with Locust and Honey, my sasquatch-hunter gerbils. |

| May-09-07 | | mckmac: <Domdaniel: <mckmac> In fact the double digit 'master number' thing *is* helpful - I see how it works now. I'm more familiar with a version that just reduces everything to single digits.> P.S... just in case you are still a tad confused, <Domdaniel>:The brilliant, erudite, inspiratioal, but questionable Irish writer Mr. Gerry McCarthy clocks in like this: G7e5r9r9y7=37=1 :M4c3C3a1r9t2h8y7=37=1 : 1+1=2
2=The Empress;The Queen;Partnership.
37+37=74=11.

| May-10-07 | | WBP: <Dom> How are you, sir? I have been monstrously busy killing monsters. <All French films feature hermaphrodites and this [the fine French nature film on bugs] is no exception> Let me begin by saying that this was a big laugh (trying to quit the LOL stuff--going cold turkey. I'm in a recovery group for it. "Hi. I'm Bill. I use LOL." Really twisted folks in that group--nudity's an option.) And--sorry to say this--I am also vastly amused by your slimy things phobia. I can relate, though. I have--and I am being very, very serious here, an intense phobia about underwater pictures, movies, videos, cave paintings, etc. Clear turquoise-blue water stuff (read: Caribbean) is OK; otherwise, it's frightening (seriously!). Especially so are murky or black and white underwater water shots and most especially...submarines (very serious here!). Submarine movies are a big no-no with me (this probably dates back to a childhood viewing of The Incredible Mister Limpett, surely one of the most profoundly terrifying pieces ever set on film--scenes from that rank right up there with the unmasking sequence in Lon Chaney's Phantom of the Opera [BTW--haven't dropped that one yet--L.C. is of my very favorite actors]). <Are there more of them [answers that make sense] in your forum?> Are you serious? Despite the earnest and worthy efforts of several fine posters, I've done everything in my power to render my forum a senseless and unjustifiable exercise in language. After all, we're all post-modernists now, aren't we? (heheheheheh!) (Also, as I wrote <JFQ> I hope I have not violated any cyberspace rules of etiquette by not formally inviting you to drop in. Drop in--or don't drop in--anytime you wish.) |

| May-10-07 | | Aunt Bob: <Domdaniel> Hello Mr.Domdaniel.The following is a message addressed to you from young mckmac.Best Wishes from Aunt Bob. <Dom> Apologies. My 'reading' of <2> is way *way* off.Did a bit of research: Keyword=*Union* ; Tarot Card= *The High Priestess* (3=The Empress[The Queen]);also,*The Receptive Principle* and *The Moon*. |
|
May-10-07
 | | Domdaniel: <Aunt Bob> Delighted to meet you, ma'am. Priests, Queens, Empresses - bring 'em on. But I'm afraid the Moon is just a hologram, installed by alien beings to make us worship the false god of gravity. As the other Bob once wrote:
"And she takes your voice and leaves you howling at the moon..." |
|
May-10-07
 | | Domdaniel: <mckmac> See, now, I'd call 11 a repunit -- a number composed of repeated ones. Quite interesting things, repunits. R2 = 11, one of relatively few primes (I think R19 and maybe R23 might be prime, but I'd have to check).
For example,
R6 = 111111 = 3 x 7 x 11 x 13 x 37
This can be used as the basis for a quick way of telling if a number is divisible by 7,11 or 13 ... but I couldn't be bothered explaining. It's restricted to level 23 adepts anyway. "The numbers add up to nothing" |
|
May-10-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <the numbers add up to nothing> <Dom> where has this appeared before? It is a line from <Niel Young's> fine song <Powderfinger>, but I'm sure it has other appearances in the <intertext> (which still doesn't exist, btw). Jessica Barthes
|
|
May-10-07
 | | Domdaniel: <Jess> You got me there: I was quoting Powderfinger. It's one of Young's greatest lines, I think. Wouldn't be surprised to find it at large in the intertext (which I thought you didn't believe in?) ... Zuma Shakey |
|
May-10-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Big John's been drinking since the river took Emmy Lou. I haven't got any farther than that in my "analysis" of the intertext. |

May-10-07
 | | Domdaniel: <WBP> Your phobia might just be a vital scientific discovery. Most phobias, like snakes and spiders, are just simple things our distant ancestors were hardwired to be afraid of. But submarines? There's a controversial theory that proto-humans evolved on the seashore -- which would explain why we're good swimmers, mostly hairless, with subcutaneous fat -- unlike other primates. A fear of submarines could suggest that a million years back the human lineage swam in the ocean depths. Our ancestors were happily evolving towards dolphinhood, when they were scared back onto dry land by submarines. And who was in the subs? Proto-dolphins, probably. It all fits. |
|
May-10-07
 | | Domdaniel: <submarines> ... or maybe it's just another boring phallic symbol ... "A thing's a phallic symbol if it's longer than it's wide" |
|
May-10-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: slugs is hermaphrodites.
So is <Cartman's> mom on <Southpark>, in fact she impregnated herself, making her both <Cartman's> mom AND dad. Also, <Bill> may be referring to a fear of seeing a sodden submarine sandwich floating, bloated and ominous, just under the surface. When you find yourself blessing slugs <unawares>, <major domo>, perhaps only then will you achieve enlightenment. Jess of the Panophobia. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <DUS> Intrigued by the rather hysterical tone of the last two <chessbase> reports on Mr. <Short's> current plight, I took a tour through the last few pages of his forum. LOL says it all, I guess.
<DUS> if you go back carefully through the pages you will see that <GMNS> rarely addresses anyone who isn't a total <suckup> or a total <troll>. <Dom> is neither, which is why <Short> never acknowledges his posts, which are always interesting, on topic, respectful, and pertinent. These, of course, are all terrible character flaws according to the <Nicomachean Ethics> (or was it virtues?). As for you and <Donliav> I found your comments hilarious. I wouldn't take getting "zapped" personally especially on that page. Briefly; I posted there in support of <short> once and he promptly deleted my post. So don't take it bad.
Rejoice that the page is so hilarious (it is).
And, in defence of GMNS, he's certainly not makng any attempt whatsoever to hide his actual personality from us. This, I believe, is a virtue. (and so funny)
LOL

| May-10-07 | | whiteshark: <DUS> fyg.: the <Armenian theme> is now on mckmac chessforum
There you can do accusing, rude wording etc, or even sing with me. I C U there... |

May-10-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <DUS> speaking of deletions, sometimes you never know who did the deleting as well. Example: I saw a post by <whiteshark> in here a few weeks ago that was only up for a few hours, and NOBODY bothered to tell me how or why it disappeared even though I was curious and asked like about 200 times. Enigmatic, this large quasi-fish (not a true fish, has no bone, only cartlidge). <fyg>??
