| May-20-07 | | Elixir of Life: <twinlark> I am <overjoyed> to see you back!! How's life going!! We'll be needing you in <The world vs Gert Jan Timmerman>. He is the toughest opponent yet, he's an ex World CC-champion, and he probably doesn't have much simultaneous games going on at the same time, so we'll need your help! We're also very close to finishing Yury Shulman off! |
|
| May-20-07 | | WBP: Morning, <DOM>. Yeah, great acronym work. Sorry to hear about the Black Widow! I may be wrong, but I seem to notice that a post of mine (and at least one of yours) from yesterday has been deleted. Hope I didn't say anything out of turn, and I apologize if I did. Trying To Be A Good Citizen In Spite Of Himself |
|
| May-20-07 | | TheSlid: Tut tut, <Dom> everyone knows the said gentleman has an excellent SoH in one direction - and none whatsoever in the other. |
|
May-20-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: hey <twinlark> WELCOME BACK!!! WE all missed you terribly.
Hope all is well man.
Jess |
|
May-20-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Hey <Elixir>
Where is my move?
Heh.
All is updated and our game awaits your next move.
BTW this is your best game of the three so far- I'd say Black is equal or very close to it. |
|
May-20-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Bill> there's no way <Dom> deleted your posts. The only time he deleted posts was when they forced him to by shutting his forum down. So be careful...
Jess of the warnings (although I'm not careful either- in fact I think it was mainly me who got <dom> in trouble.) CG.com: "If you and JFQ want to trade dirty limericks there are plenty of sites on the net for that." Good news is that the people at <CG.com> are totally reasonable, forgiving, etc. and they want all of us here. They are very good people. Then, of course, there's us...
heh |
|
| May-20-07 | | WBP: <Jess> Thanks. I don't think there was anything in the post to cause any concern for <Cessagames.com> (it had to do with William Burroughs and language), but who knows? BTW, I have found this <Good news is that the people at <CG.com> are totally reasonable, forgiving, etc. and they want all of us here> to be very true. Looks like things are heating up big time in your forum twixt <Plato> and you! Your curt refusal of his basketball side-bet was hilarious. (Good to see you turning down a bet!)When is Dortmund? Is Moro playing? I'd have chosen Moro as well, though one can't count out Kramnik. |
|
May-20-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Dortmund soon.
No Moro
Kramnik, Marmduke, Naitditsch, Akenjew, Leko, Carlsen and two more I think. |
|
May-20-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Dom> I have to say I am heartily enjoying <Mack's> "book" game. I think that your lists are certainly representative of your personality, which I think is one of the points of the game. I put my list (following all Mack's instructions on how the game is played) in <Eyal's> forum. Do you think it is representative of what you know of me, or does it look like the list of an imposter? |
|
May-21-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Dom>
You realize that when you scarper that the rest of us can't fill up our pages/posts/fora counts, as maybe 75% of all that action in this neck of hte woods stems from your apparent ablility to read 8,000 posts in three hours and respond to them all. Plus the funny nad frequently insane/andor arcane and/or incomprehensible and/or profound content of your actual posts. Just saying.
I'm trying to catch <Wilson> on the stats page and he has offically declared war on me. And <slomarko> rose to the bait so now I have <two mortal enemies> again!! Unfortunately, one of them is one of my best friends <Wilson> Ah, the fortunes of War... |
|
May-21-07
 | | Domdaniel: elixir said it ... we're overjoyed to have doublebird-of-larks back among us. And he's been taking unspelling lessons. There *is* a southern hemisphere, there <is>. |
|
May-21-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Major Domo> You have returned!! Thank God, and just in time.
The <Doggy> dropped by while you weren't here, as you know, so I had to welcome him by myself. He sounds in good form!!
Drop by today and join in on the entirely inconsequential discussion in my forum. You'll be pleased to know I have a new <mortal enemy>!! |
|
May-21-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: OH Dom when you get a chance will you take a look at my book list in <Eyal's> forum and see if it matches my "personality" or not? There's a good list in <Ziggurat's> forum as well. I don't think my list matches my personality.
Do you think this means I am insane?
Dim of the Yard |
|
May-21-07
 | | Domdaniel: <Jess, Bill> Yep, there seem to have been some deletions from above -- some of the Burroughs stuff, I think, despite my carefully delicate translations. I confess I don't really see a pattern to it. Or rhyme, reason, etc. |
|
May-21-07
 | | Domdaniel: <Jess> Other people have personalities. What you have is several orders of magnitude more complex, like a medium-sized galactic civilization, with jokes. Just saying. |
|
May-21-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Dominus> thanks kindly for the props, but you really are needed at my gaff. The inanity factor is approaching critical mass, if you don't step in soon I think <MannBee> might well fly to the rescue... |
|
May-21-07
 | | Domdaniel: On my way...
(Well, actually, I've already been, but I thought I'd better say 'On my way...' just to keep the record straight...) |
|
May-21-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <to keep the record straight> Is this some kind of veiled reference to the propensity of vinal to warp due to temperature changes, or to using the records as Frisbees? |
|
May-21-07
 | | Domdaniel: <Jess> -- <using the records as Frisbees?> Hmm, haven't tried that. CDs make innaresting reflectors, when glued in random patterns in spooky dark places. You then shine a torch (or laser, or car headlamp etc) on them. Vinyl makes nice shapes when melted.
But, anyway, no, it wasn't. Would I make a veiled reference? All our references here are modern, liberated types. Some wear make-up, but that's their business. No stoning, please. |
|
May-21-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Heh- there was a guy I knew in Montreal, a Grad Student no less, who claimed he actually smoked vinyl records in a pipe to get blasted. Not sure If he was kidding or not...
Jess of the wearing body armor and full <chador> gear, "just in case" |
|
May-21-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: btw if it seems like I'm sitting in front of my computer all day checking the fora every ten minutes, it's only because it's true. I'm "working" for money on this second and last "content editing" assignment which involves checking all references in a thesis and making sure the page numbers and quotations are accurate. If you had to do that, wouldn't YOU check here every ten minutes? Jess of the would make a TERRRIBLE office worker.
"She's spending all day downloading Gay Porn!"
"She's spending all day in a chess chat room!"
Which of these costs the "economy" more I don't know. Don't care, either!!
Heh |
|
May-22-07
 | | Domdaniel: Ah, the Economy. Is it
(a) A large body of knowledge about which I know almost nothing (b) A virtual space populated by people who don't understand that money is just a metaphor (c) both of the above? |
|
May-22-07
 | | Domdaniel: <the bookshelf game> I seem to have accidentally invented a new form of social networking for literate people. Maybe someone can get rich with it and explain what economics is/are. Then again, there can't be that many literate people left, can there? Just us throwbacks, rilly. |
|
May-22-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: OMIGOD <Dom> the bookshelf game was YOUR idea!! and I've been attributing it to <Mack>. Apologies, apologies.
I'm not really a "reader" per se.
I usually have to have things repeated many times before I learns them. |
|
May-22-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Dom> THe <economy> is just a myth, like <Goblns> or <Eskimos>. Nay worries, lad, nay worries.
Life will take care of itself.
Or, as the Black guys who run inner-city blocks say, "Bidness take care a Bidness" |
