 | | chancho: I'm number 8 on that list.
Maybe a nice long layoff is in order? |
|
| Dec-19-09 | | mack: <They're watching us now.> Ho hum. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: I made another Prog Rock Video <Dom> I'm addicted. I laughed LONG AND LOUD at the play you dropped at my house- thanks for that! This one is also from <The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway> I'm going to do the whole record- both sides. Could take a year. Anyways here it is-

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Dom>
Did you know that <Malthrope> has one of your quotations at the very top of his Profile? And it's a PRIZE WINNING PROFILE too.
It garnered the coveted and prestigious CAISSAR AWARD for "Best Profile" last year. My early new year's resolution is not to change my vote for <Deffi> for most humorous Kibbutzer just so I can tie the perennial champion <Technical Draw>. My nominations are up at <MannBee's> and that's who I'm voting for straight up. |
|
Dec-20-09
 | | Domdaniel: I don't know which is more painful in this prize hunt thing -- flicking past games that look interesting but not having time to stop, or seeing some of the truly cretinous kibitzes out there ... the ones that go "lol who are these idiot dudes" because some great historic struggle doesn't match their computer line. Oh, they know it all, don't they? I'm convinced it works in inverse proportion: the more scathing the remarks, the worse the player making them. |

 | | Domdaniel: The Wrath of an Atheist's God? Lenin Aguirre If Herzog makes another movie, he could give Richard Dawkins the old Klaus Kinski role. |

You've reminded me of this matchup, yet to be held:
Ioannis Anagnostou v. Ralf Christ Any bets? |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Elvis> has been in the Christmas spirit since at least 2006, when he did this- <Due to an act of kindness on the part of User: OhioChessFan and one other user, we have a special Christmas present. OhioChessFan donated eleven (11) one-year premium memberships to be distributed at random to non-premium members> |

 | | Domdaniel: Think! is driving me crazy.
If I come back here later and I'm crazy, have me shot. Morphine rather than lead (Plum bum), ideally. |
|
| Dec-21-09 | | hms123: <Dom> It is making me nuts as well. I usually don't worry about this contest as I have plenty of t-shirts and already own Grooten's book. I have tried all sorts of bizarre connections. Plain disappointment is my only man. |
|
Dec-21-09
 | | Domdaniel: <hms> Every so often I stop and realize I'm about ten crypto-steps away from the actual clue ... aaargh. Back to basics. I have this horrible feeling that the clue points to a move/game, not to player(s). For instance, Nimzo's Nh1! vs Rubinstein: Think is knight reversed, or going backwards, less g. The next letters are 'HI' in hint: so a knight going backwards to h1 to reach the g-file ... ? Well, something like that. |
|
| Dec-21-09 | | hms123: <Dom> You may well be right, in which case I should give up now. I hope we don't all feel really stupid when the truth is revealed. |

Simply the pimply
Know the way that I feel
Simply the pimply
See spots that ain't real

All covered in pits
I have simply what the pimply call the zits. |

 | | Domdaniel: Demmit. I tried a lot of ninths, but I just wasn't sufficiently self-referential to go back to the 9th clue. The Borges one, where the CG bug tried to disqualify me. And today <Jim B> moved up to 9th on the kibitzer list. I feel pretty vacant. |
|
| Dec-21-09 | | crawfb5: I hear a good fifth can chase away the ninths... |
|
Dec-22-09
 | | jessicafischerqueen: I'd just like to add this to <Big Crawdaddy's> recommendation. Reduce puzzle anxiety even further by listening to this groovy Christmas trance music while quaffing your Jack Daniel's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o58X... |
|
Dec-22-09
 | | jessicafischerqueen: And a very merry Christmas to you, <mack>! I really wish you'd open your forum again.
I need a place to post my Christmas drink recipes.
I'm working on one right now- it's a combination of a fine Cabernet with antifreeze. I call it "Red Wallop" |
|
Dec-22-09
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Dom> speaking of Herzog, I've just now downloaded his latest film. I am just psyching up for it by vowing not to compare it to <Abel Ferara's> masterpiece "The Bad Lieutenant", and by vowing not to compare the acting talent of <Harvey Keitel> to <Nicolas Cage>. I will deliver a BATCHIMEG AT THE MOVIES after.
Have you seen it yet? |
|
Dec-22-09
 | | Domdaniel: <Jess> Is that the Bad Lieutenant remake? Haven't seen it. And shouldn't he be demoted to Bad Sergeant by now? Or kicked upstairs to *Bad Commissioner*, with his own office for drinking, stripping nekkid, and swearing at Jesus? Well, getting cross with Jesus.
Hey, if you put 'u' into 'Jess' you get ... Jeuss. Hmm. |
|
Dec-22-09
 | | Domdaniel: <Calloo Callay> I can *see* again, after almost two weeks of one-eyed one-legged broken glasses ... a cyclops and a monopod ... caused by running into a steel pole while wearing retro tinted shades. In the dark. My first set of new glasses is here. I can *see*. I can go back to playing chess. Back to poker, which I gave up when I realized I couldn't see the flop at the far end of the table. I may even turn pro.
Pro *what*, though? Phet, maybe.
Pro seeds to Clarity. |
|
| Dec-22-09 | | achieve: <Jeuss> I thought the worst was now behind us. The sheer ignorance and infantile wordplay is worse than torture. Is it something in the water?
"Cut through the outer shell and find a meaning; cut through that meaning and find another; under it, if you dig deep enough, you may
find a third, a fourth -- who shall say how many teachings?" Good luck. |
|
Dec-22-09
 | | Domdaniel: <Niels> Thank you. Of course, if I took you *literally* ... it'd all be Double Dutch. |
|
Dec-22-09
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Steady on <Dom>, you still have teeth. Which is more than could be said for the Obama administration. |
|
| Dec-22-09 | | Jim Bartle: That would really, really, really irritate me, if it weren't true. I posted on another page a comment on a radio show today from a black guy: "If Obama had been leading the civil rights movement instead of King, I could sit in the middle of the bus today." |
|
Dec-22-09
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Jim> I am Canadian but I am equally disappointed with the lack of effective leadership offered by President Obama. No matter how thrilling a mandate behind a new president, at the end of the day- in the light of history- that president will be judged solely on his/her leadership abilities. Obama does not need to lead by committee or by consensus. Somebody on his staff should mention that this kind of leadership is doomed to failure from the outset. This is the leadership style of a Giant Waffle. He has a four year dictatorship in the executive office, and a Democratic majority in both Houses. He has no excuse whatsoever for failure at the helm.
One of the things that irritates me most is to have heard that simpering eternal debutante Nazi <Ann Coulter> laughing on a talk show before the election, accurately predicting that Obama would not "close Guantanamo Bay". Overpromising followed by underachieving is a recipe for the quick return of a Republican administration. However, four years hence- if the economy is booming (likely) and Sarah Palin is chosen as the Republican candidate (unlikely), then I think Obama will get even more time to actually accomplish some of the goals of the American left who elected him. |
