   Jan-06-19 G McCarthy vs M Kennefick, 1977 (replies)

Domdaniel: Maurice Kennefick died over the new year, 2018-2019. RIP. It was many years since I spoke to him. He gave up chess, I reckon, towards the end of the 80s, though even after that he was sometimes lured out for club games. I still regard this game, even after so many years, as the ...

   Jan-06-19 Maurice Kennefick (replies)

Domdaniel: Kennefick died over the 2018-19 New Year. Formerly one of the strongest players in Ireland, he was the first winner of the Mulcahy tournament, held in honour of E.N. Mulcahy, a former Irish champion who died in a plane crash. I played Kennefick just once, and had a freakish win, ...

Domdaniel: <NBZ> -- Thanks, NBZ. Enjoy your chortle. Apropos nothing in particular, did you know that the word 'chortle' was coined by Lewis Carroll, author of 'Alice in Wonderland'? I once edited a magazine called Alice, so I can claim a connection. 'Chortle' requires the jamming ...

   Jan-04-19 G Neave vs B Sadiku, 2013 (replies)

Domdaniel: Moral: if you haven't encountered it before, take it seriously. Remember Miles beating Karpov with 1...a6 at Skara. Many so-called 'irregular' openings are quite playable.

   Dec-30-18 Robert Enders vs S H Langer, 1968

Domdaniel: <HMM> - Heh, well, yes. I also remembered that Chuck Berry had a hit with 'My Ding-a-ling' in the 1970s. I'm not sure which is saddest -- that the author of Johnny B. Goode and Memphis Tennessee and Teenage Wedding - among other short masterpieces - should sink to such ...

jessicafischerqueen: Jeez <Eyal> you keep track of the other fora in here. Good work. Someone has to monitor this rabble. I blame lack of standardized government testing in school for the problem.

Jan-26-07  Eyal: Dear Sir, I object strongly to the previous letter on your web page. It is clearly not signed by a genuine person, and is merely posted for a cheap laugh.

Yours sincerely, William Knickers.

Jan-26-07  Eyal: And Now for Something Completely Different.

From the Topalov vs Kramnik page:

<Open Defence: Topalov to Kramnik - is that a Fritz in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?>

  jessicafischerqueen: LOL <Open Defence>.

Well there's another 20 pages of the <Elista> debate up on the <Corus> forum. And somebody has just posted two <German articles> which apparently accuse Topalov of cheating at <Corus>.

It's always a grand idea to put out a fire with petrol.

  jessicafischerqueen: <Das> and <Die>?

Two German Articles!!

HJAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA

Time for my nap now.

Jan-26-07  Eyal: <somebody has just posted two <German articles> which apparently accuse Topalov of cheating at Corus.> And I've just came across a third article, which sheds new light on the whole affair:

"Der..."

(That's the gist of it).

Jan-27-07  twinlark: Here's another German article about the cheating, but it's much more objective: "Den".

jessicafischerqueen: (Cold wind whistles over the Fen, in the absence of <Dom> and <Eyal>).

Without you two, this place is as blasted and desolate as the ominous <Grimpen Moor>...

Don't go out on the Moor after dark, gentlemen!!

Jan-28-07  Eyal: Hi jess, I'm still here. But where IS <Dom>, really?

Anyway, been meaning to ask you:

<anand e4 and this is tremendously exciting folks i haven't been this excited since ali pounded the stuffin outta foreman>

<I haven't been this excited since my sister got her @@@ caught in the Washing machine...>

So what actually was the more exciting: ali pounding the stuffin outta foreman (how old where you then?) or the unfortunate accident which happened to your sister? Inquiring minds want to know...

A rather exciting game today as well, between the Bulgarian Rogue and the Radiator. And a sad day for Tchaikovsky.

jessicafischerqueen: I was 0 years old during the <Rumble in the Jungle>. However, I have this fight as well as <the Thrilla in Manila> in their entirety on videotape. I also have tons of other <Ali> footage on videotape.

The fight was more exciting-- my sister needs a sense of humor, I think.

<Dom> is in a Pub regaling innocent bystanders with anecdotes, or interviewing <Graham Greene> (deceased) I'll betchya.

It's too soon to call INTERPOL, lets give it a few days before we take action.

Domdaniel: Das Schweigen von Marcel Duchamp wird überbewertet.
Jan-29-07  Eyal: Well, I have to say I feel a bit foolish looking at my previous post, which mentions an "exciting game" between Radjabov and Topalov, after having seen the following:

<As you already know, Radjabov and Topalov played 25 moves of analysis and agreed to a draw. The queen sac Topalov offered in the Catalan was analyzed in the German magazine Schach after the Elista match (game 10 was the stem game) and both players get the magazine, sooooo.... Alexander Onischuk, one of Topalov's seconds in Elista, dropped me a note lamenting they hadn't found it in time for Kramnik, who went on to win that game and level the score.> http://www.chessninja.com/dailydirt...

And during the live broadcast, all of us ignorant spectators were thinking the crazy Bulgarian was pulling some amazing queen sacrifice (having had enough of exchange sacrifices, for the time being?) which must be a shock to Radjabov...

Domdaniel: Hi there. <Eyal>, no need to feel foolish, especially for one of your undoubted intellect. I find, however, that if one starts with the premise that all seemingly exciting phenomena are simulacra, then one won't go far wrong. Life, on the other hand, may get rather dull.

Everybody here is so damn smart. I must find a way to harness this potential and take over a galaxy or two.

jessicafischerqueen: Captain has returned. Are there rose petals on the streets? Do you have barbarian capitives in chains walking behind your chsriot?
Jan-29-07

jessicafischerqueen: Yes, the always popular "chsriot."

Not to be confused with "chariot" or "lariat" for than matter.

yikes

jessicafischerqueen: "for that matter" I mean.

OK I'm retiring because I can't spell.

Jan-29-07  Eyal: Hi <Dom>, I have to say I am a bit relieved - I wasn't sure if your last German message wasn't implying, among other things, that your silence is going to be as long as Marcel's.

Which galaxies do you have in mind? I suppose Andromeda would be a natural choice, though I have a special liking to NGC 1300 myself.

Jan-30-07  chesstoplay: Hi Dom,

Glad you're back!

I was worried that you had forgotten all about your fan club here!!!!

Where ever or when ever you've been, hope it was good,

but next time...

take a laptop along and let us know that you're alive and stuff, okay???
