Domdaniel: Maurice Kennefick died over the new year, 2018-2019. RIP. It was many years since I spoke to him. He gave up chess, I reckon, towards the end of the 80s, though even after that he was sometimes lured out for club games. I still regard this game, even after so many years, as the ...

   Jan-06-19 Maurice Kennefick (replies)

Domdaniel: Kennefick died over the 2018-19 New Year. Formerly one of the strongest players in Ireland, he was the first winner of the Mulcahy tournament, held in honour of E.N. Mulcahy, a former Irish champion who died in a plane crash. I played Kennefick just once, and had a freakish win, ...

Domdaniel: <NBZ> -- Thanks, NBZ. Enjoy your chortle. Apropos nothing in particular, did you know that the word 'chortle' was coined by Lewis Carroll, author of 'Alice in Wonderland'? I once edited a magazine called Alice, so I can claim a connection. 'Chortle' requires the jamming ...

   Jan-04-19 G Neave vs B Sadiku, 2013 (replies)

Domdaniel: Moral: if you haven't encountered it before, take it seriously. Remember Miles beating Karpov with 1...a6 at Skara. Many so-called 'irregular' openings are quite playable.

   Dec-30-18 Robert Enders vs S H Langer, 1968

Domdaniel: <HMM> - Heh, well, yes. I also remembered that Chuck Berry had a hit with 'My Ding-a-ling' in the 1970s. I'm not sure which is saddest -- that the author of Johnny B. Goode and Memphis Tennessee and Teenage Wedding - among other short masterpieces - should sink to such ...

Domdaniel: <Hopefully the sentience will be reduced for good behavior.>

I was half-hoping somebody might say that, too.

You don't wanna know what the *other* half was doing.

Good behavior, however, is not to be expected from this quarter - yeah, this *quarter*: when you multiply two halves, you get ...

Dunno, boss. A dime?

Domdaniel: And today's game is <The Libyan Immortal> ... from a pseudo-olympiad once organized by the late Colonel Ghaddafi, for people who couldn't go to the real olympiad in Israel for political reasons. To their credit, most of the countries boycotting Israel also boycotted Libya. And most of those who turned up were weak players on a chess holiday.

Still, some gems ensued.

LIFE Master AJ: "You-know-who" (lemmingfan) got so nasty, I had to block him on my You-Tube channel as well.

What a loser.

Domdaniel: <AJ> Sorry to hear that. The guy's a monomaniac with the emphasis on maniac.

I just hope we don't all end up in some horrible situation, wishing we'd alerted the cops sooner. His obsession with CG and his potential danger to its denizens should not be underestimated.

Like a poisoned fruitcake.

Domdaniel: <AJ> I don't know what's going on, I'm afraid. I don't know much about the inner workings of Youtube, but what you describe sounds very plausible.

As for Jess, I dunno. I think maybe she has a soft spot for people she thinks are being victimized - as you say, she stood by you when few others did. And she defended the Lemming once before -- but that was before his final round of sockpuppet atrocity, which I thought would have put him beyond the pale.

We could try asking her, I suppose.

Yo, Jess? Is this true? Or what?

Please don't repost anything from him for my benefit either.

Also, I'm no longer interested in discussing anything <AJ> might have to say, with you or anyone else, so I shan't be doing that.

Therefore, kindly refrain from involving me- in any way whatsoever- in your discussions with <AJ>.

Thanks in advance.

Oct-21-11  catsfaith: <jessicafischerquee> Offer sorrow to intrude, her comment noted and~

Right after I posted the Morphy video, it was - for several hours - "temporarily unavailable, sorry check back later." (The message on the screen.) At least once, I got the message that it had been flagged as inappropriate, a former chess student in Destin also had the same problem.

Anh slept soon before, so notes of how to explain were few, able explain in the later whiles if need, them should awake by now

Domdaniel: <catsfaith> Oh, that's clever. I haven't seen such an innovative use of cut'n'paste since Burroughs and Gysin invented cut-ups.

Of course, you have the advantage of passing stuff through a dodgy translator.

Domdaniel: Why has *everything* flipped? Note I didn't say "everyone".

This is starting to remind me of Alice in Wonderland. Down the digestive tract and into the cosmos with mantra, tantra and specklebang.

I am understanding less and less.

Domdaniel: <A Reading from the Book of Dom>

1. And in that year, Lemming did poison the water.

2. And though he had no head, he had many names, as befits a spawn of the Great Rodent.

3. And lemming was slain. And the coroner duly returned a verdict, saying "It was an Act of God under highly suspicious circumstances".

4. Meanwhile, the water stayed poisoned.

5. And those heavy metals play merry hell with the nervous system.

6. And lo, almost everyone became fearful, suspicious, paranoid, or deeply neurotic.

7. And those who did did not drink of the tainted wells looked around in puzzlement, saying, Is everybody Mad or what?

8. And the Lord said, Good question. A good question that deserves a statistical answer. Our computers here say it's 20% *mad* and 80% *what*. Allowing for windspeed.

9. And deep in the vitriol mines, the Lemming laughed.

LIFE Master AJ: Of course ... long before any of this "other stuff," a certain someone was running a round this site. The admins had to go so far as to have him muzzled, (several times); he then resorted to creating obscene game collections (with me as the target); ... I don't know how ANY reasonable person buys into what a character like this would say ...

Of course, if there is ANY silver lining in the black cloud of this whole affair, it would be that after we were (both) sprayed by the skunk, we found company in misery.
