Reason I think a filter is involved is what reason would they have to just drop in and start reading? Like I said, no one comes here except your friends. |

Censorship made me what I am today: old Ireland notoriously banned everyone, with the most active book and film censors in Europe. But by the 1970s and 80s they concentrated on porn and Chatterlyesque literature. Nobody noticed I was reading Burroughs, Pynchon, Ballard, Dick, weird sci-fi with alien drugs and polysexual lifeforms. Ballard's cool clinical discussion of <intercourse per ashtray> is, er, heady stuff when you're thirteen. If I can't say Philip Dick, his alter ego was Horselover Fat. I contend that this forum - even with us children behaving childishly - is still more mind-expanding than, say, the Fegatello variation of the Two Knights Defence. 24 Hours? If had 2 nights I might mount a defence...
