| Nov-08-13 | | dakgootje: If cleaning up is necessary, they shouldn't get any more custard. |
Nov-08-13
 | | Domdaniel: <boz> -- Heh. Of course, any custodians worthy of the name should be able to clean up after themselves. <dak> -- Quite. No more custard -- let the blighters egg *themselves* on. "An egg never dies." -- Flann O'Brien. |
| Nov-08-13 | | boz: eggsactly |

| Nov-09-13 | | Memethecat: Maybe reflective, they guard each other, like that two mirror trick, the watcher watches the other watcher watch it watching it watch the watcher watching it watch the watcher mate... have a banana..knees up mother One things for sure, BBC news didn't let their viewers watch violent clashes and fireworks aimed at QEIIs town house on Guy Fawkes night. Not news worthy? or the revolution really won't be televised.. not by auntie anyway. |
Nov-09-13
 | | Domdaniel: <Meme> Nah, the revolution was never going to be televised ... of course, they'd cash in on in with 'Revolution: the Comedy Series' or whatever... |
| Nov-09-13 | | waustad: Who guards the guardian that guards anyone who doesn't guard himself? |
Nov-10-13
 | | Domdaniel: <waustad> Uh, the barber? |

The best scene in the best sitcom EVER?!!!!!!!!!!! (that's over 10 !) You must love this Dom. When Dr Johnson says "Every word in the English dictionary", and Blackadder says, "Every?"..... you just know what's a coming 😃 Its genius. |
Nov-14-13
 | | Domdaniel: <Annie> -- I just noticed this: < (not that it would mean anything to you anyway...); > Hey, *everything* means something to me ... even if I don't know what ... |
Nov-15-13
 | | Annie K.: Heh, ackshly I remembered the name, and it's totally understandable: Interpress Magazin. Prolly named that because its contents were largely translations of articles from all over the "western" world, both the east and west of it. It was mostly a mix of National Geographic-style writeups and other scientific fields cutting edge research reports, with some novel(ette) installment, and very little, if any, celeb stuff, local, or political news, at least as far as I recall. This is still my idea of what a proper magazine should be like. ;) |
| Nov-15-13 | | Memethecat: When the Boat Comes In, been stuck in me head since your punishing nod.
There's an Aussie lass that plays the folk fest scene, she does a solo version of it, fiddle and singing, brilliant tune and her take on it is great, Cathy something. Good game today, odds on the kid now. |
Nov-15-13
 | | Domdaniel: <Meme> It's been stuck in my head for days, I was just waiting for an opportunity... don't think I know the Aussie version though... |
| Nov-16-13 | | Memethecat: Not an Aussie version, it's the same Northumberland 3/2 ditty, just her choice of chords and notes mixed with vocals (always impressive cos I can't do it) is especially nice. |
Nov-16-13
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Dom> I had no idea you were <Gerald Durrell> in your spare time. I applaud your vigor!
Next you'll be telling me you created "Roger Mellie- the Man on the Telly." |
Nov-17-13
 | | Domdaniel: <Jess> Nah, I don't do vigour. Though I have been on telly a few times... |
Nov-18-13
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Dom> so you are *also* Roger Mellie in your spare time? Good Heavens.
In this case I agree that "vig<o>r" and a quote from JFK is insufficient to the purpose. I'll choose a better word, especially in the light of this stunning new information. What about,
"I applaud your grandiloquence."
I don't know what that word means, exactly, and I'm certainly not going to do anything as jejune, or sensible, as looking it up before using it. I assume it means "eloquent on a grand number of topics." Not to mention, whenever you see this player's name, tell me you don't think of your new word too eh? Nils Grandelius Yow! I never saw his photo before. Bit of all right if you ask me. |
Nov-20-13
 | | Domdaniel: <Jess> -- < Bit of all right if you ask me>
Is it a Scandi-Rasta thang? Or is he a Medusa? Innaresting hair. |
Nov-22-13
 | | jessicafischerqueen: We'd have to check with <dak>- Rasta is a Dutch phenomenon, if I'm not mistaken. |
Nov-22-13
 | | Domdaniel: <Jess> Nah, more a Carib-Ethiopian crossover thang. Like the well-known Jamaican proctologist, Pokémon. I don't think the Dutch *do* phenomenology. |
| Nov-23-13 | | dakgootje: Indeed, we don't do anything with -logy.
We just do. And if it doesn't work we do something else, until that fails. We are the country-equivalent to those chess puzzlesolvers who systematically try out every possible option. |
Nov-23-13
 | | Domdaniel: <dak> -- <We are the country-equivalent to those chess puzzlesolvers who systematically try out every possible option.> Does that mean Nederland = Engine?
Does not compute.
Of course, I live in the country-equivalent of those chess players who drop a piece in the opening and expect everyone to feel sorry for them ... for 1000 years. |
Nov-23-13
 | | Annie K.: Heheh - ouch!! What would that make Israel... the country that keeps taking moves back? ;s |
Nov-23-13
 | | Domdaniel: <A> Or maybe Israel is a country surrounded by checkers/draughts players who believe that chess should be outlawed? |
| Nov-23-13 | | dakgootje: <Does that mean Nederland = Engine? > Sure. Solid, generally hard-working, bit boring.
And occasionally doing things that seem utterly strange - but are done from a pragmatic point of view ;) |
Nov-23-13
 | | Domdaniel: Meanwhile ... aaargh.
< ... 22-year-old Norwegian has broken every pre-conceived notion about the world's nerdiest sport with his youth, good looks, his building himself into a 'marketing juggernaut' and his posts on Facebook and Twitter.
The social media posts contain images, which show him jet-skiing, playing beach volleyball shirtless, hanging upside down from training rods and jumping from five metres into a vast lake at a resort, along with the message that he is 'preparing for his games'>World's nerdiest sport, eh? What about Scrabble? Or, um, rugby? As for shirtless volleyball, hey, I once played blindfold chess without my glasses. There are many ways to be a stripper. |
