 | | Fusilli: <chancho> Gente que no tiene nada que hacer. Once you see that @#$%*&!# posts occupy many times the space that chess posts occupy, you've got a problem! I took a quick look at Freeman's page and felt very sad at the mess it's become. |

Daniel's death must have been totally unexpected. I imagine he would have made minimal provisions for the survival of his website had he seen it coming. But who knows, just speculating here. It always feels more personal when someone who shares my birth year dies. Thankfully, it doesn't happen often. Yet. |

 | | OhioChessFan: <(Yes, the king is safe there)> Kind of hard to believe on the wide open board. 31..Qd1+ would have been a bit of a snarky move but I guess not as objectively good as Rgh8, which is probably the "right" move. |

 | | Richard Taylor: Dear Fusilli, I noticed you are about to be espoused...as an ex-expousee, I tend my deepest sympathy and condolences.... ...I jest of course.
A man has three options in life:
1 to get a-married
2 to stay a-single
3 to do either or neither and still go a-crazy |

Feb-12-19
 | | Richard Taylor: In your game White should play 9 fxe5 then I think Black maybe plays Nb6... 6... e6 is good but your e5 seems to have unsettled your opponent... The Austrian Attack is mostly what I play against the Pirc I have got some good wins with it but lost some also. Perhaps 4 Nf3 is better overall. The other one is to play 3 f3 ...
Chess is a difficult game. But a good scalp by you! |

Feb-23-19 | | thegoodanarchist: <Fusilli: Dear <OCF> and other men and women of faith that visit your page: My oldest step-son, Tristan (16), was diagnosed brain cancer back in October. Since then, it's been an ordeal, involving so far two brain surgeries and one more to come soon. At this point, he has finished his 30-odd radiation sessions, has daily fevers, a weakened immune system, chemo lies ahead, and this year will be, well, tough. Really tough.> I am sorry to learn of this.
Here is one man's experience with brain cancer:

 | | Fusilli: <thegoodanarchist> Thank you, quite interesting. One more example of the power of diets when they strike the right note (and I suspect, on the right person, since hardly anything works on two people the same way). Tristan, unfortunately, has a severe allergy to red meat so a diet like this sounds impossible for him. Also, his cancer is a glioblastoma. I am sharing your link with my wife. It is surely an inspirational story. I myself have multiple sclerosis, though thankfully with almost no symptoms. I was diagnosed in 2011 and, at present, all I have is some weakness on my right leg. I'd say my right leg has 80% of the (normal) strength of my left leg. So, I have some foot drop and trip a number of times a day (though have never fallen), and I have some difficulty putting on/taking off socks (on my right foot). There are recommended diets for people with MS that sometimes seem to operate miracles (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fs7...). Often, they require extremely intensive management! |

Feb-23-19 | | thegoodanarchist: < Fusilli: Tristan, unfortunately, has a severe allergy to red meat so a diet like this sounds impossible for him.> Hi <Fusilli>
Since red meat is the perfect food for humans, I seriously doubt he is allergic to it. Most likely, his allergic reaction is to histamines on the meat. These are a product of aging, and nearly all commercially available red meat is aged, unfortunately. Since I don't have much of an problem with food histamines (Seasonal pollen is a different story), I don't really have much experience in how to deal with this issue. But I know of a blogger who does: <Finally, thanks again to Amber, I discovered that some people also have a difficult time breaking down and detoxifying histamines. Histamines are present in aged and fermented foods, such as cheese, wine, meat, and sauerkraut, as well as in foods that have been cryovac’d in plastic. Most of the meats sold in the big supermarkets have been both aged and cryovac’d and – therefore – contain very high levels of histamines. Now I finally understood why the beef and other meats – as well as the cheese and sour cream – I tried were making me feel bad. Incidentally, I know from past experiments that wine and sauerkraut also affect me negatively. Finding fresh, unaged, non-cryovac’d meat is a bit of a challenge, and it took me several weeks to secure a local source.I finally found some some unaged meat at a small independent butcher shop. However, it has been cryovac’d for shipping purposes. Nevertheless, I felt it was worth a try and the difference in how I felt after eating it – compared to it’s aged counterpart – was significant enough that I knew I discovered another piece to the puzzle of my strange food sensitivities. It turns out that healthy mitochondrial function is also needed to breakdown and detoxify the histamines present in aged and fermented foods.> https://zerocarbzen.com/about-me/
I think aging is mainly done with beef, and not so much with lamb. Might try a Whole Foods in your area. They usually carry fresh lamb. |

Feb-23-19 | | thegoodanarchist: <Fusilli: <thegoodanarchist> I myself have multiple sclerosis, though thankfully with almost no symptoms.> Sorry to hear that. You and your family sure have a full plate of life challenges. This fellow also has MS, and says he is in remisssion: https://zerocarbzen.com/2017/02/20/... And in his interview, he says that grain-fed animals cause him problems, and recommends grass-fed. Unfortunately, grass-fed beef is no exception to the standard aging practice and histamine generation. |

 | | Fusilli: <tga> It's called Alpha-gal allergy. It's caused by a tick bite. It's very real! He has had huge and sudden rash eruptions from red meat. The good news is that it tends to go away after some years. He's had it for three years so far. About MS, the large majority of people with MS have "relapsing-remitting" MS, including me and the fellow you cite. At advanced stages, MS can become progressive, and then it gets worrisome. I'm not too worried about it. The usual medication therapy has worked just fine on me. Cheers! |

Feb-23-19 | | thegoodanarchist: <Fusilli: <tga> It's called Alpha-gal allergy. It's caused by a tick bite. It's very real! > I've read of that! I didn't think that was the cause, of course, because it is rare and aging beef is standard procedure. Thank you for explaining. When I learned about Alpha-gal I was living in upstate NY, which is the most tick-infested area of America. I quit going hiking in the woods after that, and kept my hikes confined to urban areas, simply to avoid such a possibility. |
