I live in Stredokluky (a village near Prague, Czech republic). I play both practical and correspondence chess. My rating in practical chess (Czech national ELO) oscillates somewhere between 2010 and 2060, in correspondence chess I have rating 2155 (my best was 2220 in the middle of 90's). I have no special favorite player but I like to view good games of old masters (Tarrasch, Schlechter, Chigorin etc.)

   Jan-07-26 Short vs Kramnik, 1996

Honza Cervenka: It looks like white forgot to insert 45.Bxg7+ with idea 45...Kh7 46.Qf4 +-. Or did he miss that after 46.Qh6+ black has 46...Qh7? Anyway, instead of 42...Bh6(?) black should have played 42...Qf5 43.Rh2 Bf4 with decisive attack. 41...Bxe3 was also inaccurate for eventual ...

Jan-06-26 Kramnik vs Short, 1995 (replies)

Honza Cervenka: Ugly 20...Bc8 was the only chance to avoid quick disaster, though white's advantage would be still great and probably decisive anyway.

   Jan-06-26 Capablanca vs Lasker, 1924

Honza Cervenka: <which begs the question if Honza was here on the 30th June why did he not wish me a happy birthday?> Mea culpa!

   Jan-06-26 Smyslov vs G Ilivitsky, 1952

Honza Cervenka: Instead of 14...Nd4 it was correct to play 14...gxf5. Also 15...gxf5 would have been a lesser evil. 16...Bxh6 was another mistake but the position of black was then bad anyway.

   Jan-06-26 T Luther vs O Touzane, 1990

Honza Cervenka: This is quite strange coincidence. But first 10 moves are just a standard opening line, and most of moves after black's three consecutive mistakes (14...Nd4, 15...Bxe4 and 16...Bxh6) are more or less forced or at least fairly obvious.

   Jan-05-26 A Pomar vs Hort, 1965

Honza Cervenka: Instead of 15.Nf6+ white should have played 15.Qxf7+ Kxf7 16.Ng5+ Kg8 17.Nxh3 exd4 18.Nxd4 Nxd4 19.exd4 Bxd4 20.Rb1 with roughly equal game.

   Jan-02-26 N Theodorou vs L Dominguez Perez, 2025 (replies)

Honza Cervenka: 37.Rb7! was a lovely shot. But black's position was already precarious anyway. For example, 36...f6 37.Qg3 Rc6 38.h6 Qe7 39.Nxe6 +-, or 36...Nf5 37.Bxf5 exf5 38.h6 f6 39.Qg3 Rb8 40.Nd7!! +-

   Jan-02-26 A Elo vs Fischer, 1957

Honza Cervenka: 42.c4 was absolutely incomprehensible move giving black practical chance to play for win. 46.Kg3 was decisive mistake but it was just a logical consequence of the bad decision made four moves earlier.

   Jan-02-26 Goutham Krishna H vs M A Tabatabaei, 2025 (replies)

Honza Cervenka: 30...Bxc4 was necessary. Black was badly spanked for his too passive approach to this game.

   Dec-29-25 K Tsarouhas vs X Mastalerz, 2016 (replies)

Honza Cervenka: <goodevans><I reckon Black actually played <58...Rf4?>> It looks quite plausible. And the continuation making most sense could be 58...Rf4 59.h7 Kg7 60.h8=Q+ Kxh8 61.Kg6 Kg8 62.c6 Rf2 63.c7 Rg2+ 64.Kf6 Rc2 65.Rxa2 Rc6+ 66.Kg5 Rxc7 etc. In this line 61.Kg6 ...

Honza Cervenka: They are apparently using some multiple IP tool or they have approach to many proxy servers.
Jan-23-11  achieve: Yeah - something's a bit off now for me, so I will not vote anymore, as I feel an unpleasant obsession with the battle of the babies' vote race arise, speaking purely of myself, of course, yet good luck and "good fun" in your further efforts. ;)
Jan-23-11  dakgootje: Down roughly 200 now -- supposing it's all fair games, then that is one big supporting community.
Jan-23-11  chesstoplay: My latest vote was # 770 at 10:20 AM CST USA

Aneta is behind 770 to 865.

We are within 100 again, but losing.

Rally the team!!

Jan-23-11  chesstoplay: My latest vote was # 825 at 11:31 AM CST USA

Aneta is behind 825 to 874.

We are now within 50, but still losing.

Domdaniel: <Honza> I hlasovat whenever I can. Aneta is hanging in there.

I apologize, btw, for that little bit of controversy in the Kib Cafe. Some people object to these competitions as a matter of principle. I was trying to say that this is quite different from so-called beauty contests with professional pre-teen girls being exploited.

I just hope it didn't deter any voters.

I have confidence in Aneta and her round-the-clock fan club. With a start like this, she will be a true child of the 21st century.

Honza Cervenka: We have a new leader now: one of expected favourites Alex Loukota jumped ahead of us for some 500 votes in just two hours. We desperately need more voters against this machinery. So vote early, vote often!
Jan-24-11  supermexico: We´ve had already voted here in México City(different IPPs) for Aneta 14 votes until now! If we can make the same rate in a week would be about 98 (7x14). It´s not going to be enough to beat automatic machines sending votes every 60 minutes!
Jan-24-11  supermexico: This is what I wrote when we knew in Mexico about your daughter:

I was wondering who the hell (it´s the strongest exclamation I learned at English Institute) is Aneta?

I had to go back some kibitz pages in order to find Pages 1021, 1020 and so found <OhioChessFan> talking about Aneta Cervenkova: Posting a message from Lifetime Achievement winner <Honza Cervenka> Call for Aneta’s voters! Vote early, vote often!

It was a very nice surprise linked to the site
http://kladensky.denik.cz/miminka/m...

just to find a lot of pretty babies!

May I ask, where are they from? We suppose they are all from Checoslovaquian Republic, aren´t they? Ok, all of them are very nice and pretty.

It was difficult to find the best among the best and … Finally we decided, it was exactly:

Aneta Èervenková

Right now 21:00 hrs. time Mexico City, with our vote, punctuation was 419 for her and 290 for 2nd. Kristýna ..ermáková. Well, if you think we voted here just because "Gens una sumus!" You are wrong!

We voted, all 6 Mexicans + wives/girlfriends for Aneta Èervenková because she deserves all the Mexican votes, she looks cute and nice over other also pretty babies! We understand 1 vote each hour, different IPPs, so we have some work to do besides analyzing chess positions!

Congratulations for those families!

jessicafischerqueen: If only there were some way to rally the Mexican vote...
Jan-24-11  dakgootje: Suspect Kristýna might've given up due to the surge of Alex.

Currently Aneta in 2nd place, but a mighty 750 votes behind.

On that point, I agree completely with you.

Honza Cervenka: <Alex must have some automatic voting set up.> I am not IT expert but I guess that he (or his father) has some list of available proxy servers and uses some running script, which sends votes via those proxies automatically. I never saw Alex to get just one vote in a time. He always gets ten or fifteen or even fifty votes at the same time.

Honza Cervenka: Call for Aneta’s voters! Vote early, vote often!

We are losing the race with a great favourite Alex Loukota. Despite of getting in just two days more votes than in both previous one week long rounds the gap between leader and our girl is widening more and more. They are ahead of us for more than one thousand votes now. Your help is much needed! If you want to support Aneta, just click on http://kladensky.denik.cz/miminka/m..., flag the name <Aneta Èervenková> in the grey box on the right side of the screen and hit the <hlasovat> button below. If you see a notification “Dìkujeme za váš hlas” (Thank you for your vote) after that, then you have voted successfully. And if you see a notification “Došlo k opakovanému hlasování” (Repeated voting has occurred), then you should try to vote a bit later again....:-D

Jan-24-11  chesstoplay: Honza,

Below is my latest appeal to the World Team.

OCF and I have been championing your cause on the main thread with the help, comments and support of many, many players.

Do not give up hope!

But, I have to ask if there is some way to question the site hosting the contest on Alex's "bulk" votes?

Keep the faith and do not have any quit in your effort.

Peter

< Aneta is solidly in 2nd place!

Thanks to everyone who has helped, so far!!

We have until 2/5/2011 to catch the leader once again.

Aneta is about 1200 votes out of 1st.

Ask every friend site you are on to jump in and help Aneta!!

Our friend and teammate < Honza > and his family need our help!

Please vote once EVERY hour... Aneta needs you!!

http://kladensky.denik.cz/miminka/m...

Remember, this goes until 2/5/2011. We've time to help our friend.

Honza Cervenka: <chesstoplay> Thanks for your support.

<But, I have to ask if there is some way to question the site hosting the contest on Alex's "bulk" votes?>

Well, the rules of the internet polling contest are very simple. There is only one limitation, i.e. you can send just one vote from one IP address per hour. Using of proxy servers for sending of votes is not prohibited (in fact quite a lot of people especially from Kladno city has no other choice if they want to participate in voting as due to the same internet provider they have the same IP address as many other people living there) and there is also no regulation concerning multiple use of them (as well as any other ways of changing IP address), despite of the fact that organisers must be well aware of this problem, which was discussed many times before. It's "free style" fight and I am not complaining about Alex Loukota's fan(s) behaviour. I see it as challenge...:-D
