Uncovering the Truth About M61MG

Kibitzer's Corner

Aug-11-09  PinnedPiece: <IMlday:April 2005 UBS strips his account of gold and sends the rest to an Icelandic bank. >

The record shows that the cashed out value of the gold was also sent to the Icelandic bank. Fishcer could have purchased gold through that institution had he seen the increase that was coming. He was never blocked from access to the funds, or the receipts from sale of the gold.

That's from the transcripted accounts, and his own audio-captured dissertation on the subject.

The forword of the book is plainly in error, as was:

1. The "rare books" reviewer who added yet more detail than the foreword contained

2. Ed Trice, in posts directed to me and others

3. <hackmate> in posts directed to the community at large.

Interesting theory about <UBS> revenge tactic, related with your tongue firmly in cheek. They really could care less about a book publication--their goal was to get shut of Fischer, not get yet more involved. Once they transferred the funds & closed the account, there was no place for the funds to be re-transferred back to, despite Fischer's orders to Icelandic bank.

Perhaps you would like to help me flesh out one of these possible conspiracy scenarios:

<GravityWave: Ed,> <You have the same mentality as a cult leader: no matter how much evidence is against you, you still trick yourself into believing in your own divinity. The only difference is that you dont have any followers.>

Jul-26-09

<GravityWave: I can empathize with Trice--the wiki people are ridiculous. About six months ago a friend of mine, who is a reporter, tried to post an article about me. It was quickly denied for lack of citation, yet everything was true. I really did cure cancer. I really did single-handedly fake the moon landing. The Berlin Wall? Yeah, I took that down. They wouldn't even acknowledge my work on taking down the ice queen in narnia. The nerve.>

<So Ed, leave these morons to their bickering, and lets continue with our thankless job of suckling the world with our intelligence. I feel ya brother--my teats are raw too, but somebody has to nourish the children.>

If that's supporting Trice, he's not doing him any favors.

Aug-11-09  JustToClarify: First of all, the documents I have looked at (provided by Mr. Labate) demonstrate that Fischer had a lot of money at his disposal and no financial problems whatsoever.

If Fischer was low on money and needed more money, there are many things he could have done:

* He could have organized a chess tournament. He made millions for his 1992 tournament; he could have easily made enough money to comfortably retire ten times over by doing another tournament in Iceland.

* He could have had the book publishing company of his choice publish a new book. Via legitimate channels.

* He could have sold "limited edition Bobby Fischer" chess sets; this would have made quite a bit of money.

If Fischer needed money, there are a lot of ways he could a lot more money than he would have earned by writing and publishing a book via underground channels.

It's just not logical for Fischer to write a book, tell no one (not even his closest friends) about it, and have it published by underground channels if money was his only concern.

However, it's very logical and consistent with Trice's character to write and publish this book, pretending it was written by Bobby Fischer.

The preface and how it talks about how Fischer wrote the book because he needed the money is a classic Trice fabrication. Trice loves coming up with long explanations and fanciful stories. For example, here is Trice using a sockpuppet to describe how he has had dozens of Gothic Chess tournaments with thousands of people playing Gothic Chess:

http://groups.google.com/group/rec....

Look at how fanciful Trice's story is; look at how much effort Trice went to to create a fiction of Gothic Chess having great popularity (complete with an imaginary magazine extolling Gothic Chess, Gothic Chess Review).

With the number of ways Fischer could have earned money, it makes no sense for Fischer to make a book that is published only via underground channels. On the other hand, with Trice's known history of dishonesty and scams (trying to sell land on Mars, etc.), it makes perfect sense for him to make a book and pretend Fischer wrote it.

Aug-11-09  robmtchl: I had better read more before I post I guess. This was what I was referring to <GravityWave: Thats a wonderful theory. I would love to see more info on it. Where should I go? Do you have anything handy for me to look at?>

In light of the other posts... I retract my statement.

Aug-11-09  Jim Bartle: No Rob, you're missing the point of the "wonderful theory" post. He's challenging Day to come up with the goods. You might notice there's been no reply yet.
Aug-11-09  JustToClarify: Personally, I don't have an issue at this point if Day continues to believe the book is real.

My issue is with Trice, who forged this book and fooled people like Day; my issue is not with Day.

So, we've chased Trice off of chessgames.com. Where is he going to pop up next? What scam will he come up with this time?

Aug-11-09  robmtchl: Trice may start with "gothic checkers" on a 10x8 board. Has he tried to "patent" that yet?
Aug-11-09  MrMelad: Wait, Jim, you are saying Day was asked to provide sources for his claims and he didn't? What a shock!

chancho: This book fantasy began in 2007. (A year before that, it was the Gothic Fantasy Match.) In all that time, no one, I mean no one, has stepped forward from Fischer's inner circle claiming that he wrote M61MG. (we have Einar Einarsson, who stepped forward to say Fischer DID NOT WRITE THE BOOK.) The people that have made claims: Ed Trice, whose credibility is non existent. Joshka, Trice's #1 cheerleader, who parrots everything Trice says, and IMDay, a well respected player. All three have not furnished any real proof.

OhioChessFan: A while back I read maybe 2 pages of this forum and a page or so of ET's forum. I think I now need a scorecard to know who's who. I didn't realize at first the discussions of _____________ (user name) is ___________ (a different user name)were in fact accusations that people were using fake accounts and fake names to argue on behalf of one side or the other. Some are clearly such different personalities I'd think it would have to be a Cybil like person to do it. But then again I think that is possible too.

OhioChessFan: I don't think it worth my while to search through all this. My first inclination is to say that the whole idea of Fischer writing this book and nobody knowing it is so outrageous I would need huge evidence to make me think it was even remotely possible.
Aug-11-09  MrMelad: <OhioChessFan: My first inclination is to say that the whole idea of Fischer writing this book and nobody knowing it is so outrageous I would need huge evidence to make me think it was even remotely possible.> Exactly what I thought when I heard about it. I didn't even know Trice was such a liar before that. This reminds me of cults, the leader says he saw something in the dark and all of the sudden everyone thinks he is the Messiah.
Aug-11-09  MrMelad: I bet Trice could profit more by publishing the book using legitimate channels. He could of called it "Ed Trice version of M60MG" and he could find the ten suckers to buy it, especially if IM Day would have written a long positive review. Its the lie, the stinking smell of deatheating.
Aug-11-09  Jim Bartle: OCF: As a regular poster here, I can say that most any two pages of kibitzes are very similar to any other two pages. We're like a Mobius strip, going round and round. No need to go back and read everything, unless you want to see Trice's own posts.
Aug-11-09  JustToClarify: OhioChessFan:

To summarize what happened, someone by the name of Ed Trice, who has been dishonest and has told many lies over the years, created this book and tried to pretend that Bobby Fischer wrote it. It is a scam he created to try and earn money.

Most people, like you, have concluded the book is a fraud by Ed Trice. Lawrence Day is the one holdout of note who believes the book was really by Bobby Fischer.

The discussion is usually about why it is the book can not possibly be real. We also sometimes talk about some of the other lies and scams Trice has done over the years (Gothic Chess, etc.)

chancho: Yes, it's basically us repeatedly posting the same posts over and over again.

And no matter how we arranged these posts, the conclusions are about the same.

Trice is full of major grade bullsh*t.

Aug-11-09  MageOfMaple: <robmtchl: Trice may start with "gothic checkers" on a 10x8 board. Has he tried to "patent" that yet?>

Actually, he wore out his welcome with the Checkers community before wearing it out with the chess variants community.

Also, I've recently discovered that people are already playing large-board checkers. I work on Dupont Circle in Washington, DC, which has a well-known speed chess community, and I sometimes see people playing checkers on a 10x10 board. I asked one man about it and he referred to it as "Checkers Level 3". Never bothered to google it though.

Aug-12-09  whiskeyrebel: Hows about "Gothic Candyland"? Perhaps our entrepreneurial pal Ed could get a fresh start trying to breath new life into that great game.

check the link above. One of our CG kibitzers <wordfunph> has "60 memorable games new version of R. Fischer". Is it the same book?
